    I come in peace.

Is he not good enough for the premiership that he knows that ToMo will sign replacements and he won’t be first choice?

Paddy doodar to Celtic I can understand, but him to Derby at this time, I’m afraid I don’t.

  2. TonyWBA said:

All the best to Albe, when signed was big promise, IMO don’t quite think he managed them standards what was expected but never the less did okay with us.

old news knew that at 9.00am this morning!!!! He has been at Derby most of the day!

  4. Nedball said:

This means either we’re trying to pay ridiculously low wages; he’s looking for a ridiculous pay increase or he’s been told he’s not going to feature in TM’s 1st team plans, so he’s off to play for good old Derby.

At least we know now that he’s off and I’m sure he’ll be replaced by a better player, as is the style that TM does his transfer dealings…..just waiting for the Dingles to start with their sinking ship nonsense again now.

    Yet another greedy footballer

His versatility to be able to play any position across the back 4 make him a useful player for almost anyones squad, but i couldn’t really see him figuring much in the first team next season unless injuries & suspensions hit hard. Pity we couldn’t have hung on to him as back-up but he’ll hardly be missed if truth be told!

You cant stand still in football, and defence is one area we need to improve so the odd defender or two were always gonna be on their way out, with Alby umming and arring over terms, its no great surprise he’s one of the “outs”.

Can’t really blame him for going, he could go to Derby for more £ a week playing in the first team at a level for which he has shown he is more than accomplished at, OR stay at Albion on same £ knowing he was gonna be at best sat on the bench the majority of the time in a league he had previously looked out of his depth in!

  7. Spuggy Baggie said:

Of the three that were out of contract, this is the one that is least painful to lose. In all honesty he would be a useful squad player this season due to his ability to play anywhere along the back four but that’s all. Need better than him now.

Thanks for everything Alby and good luck.

  8. Happy_baggie said:

Get the feeling we didn’t fight too hard to keep him - but I hope to god TM has got someone lined up at the back - with Albre and Cesar gone we are down to just 2 CB’s - clem and Barnett.

I hope the rumours about the arsenal defenders are true - we are gonna need them at this rate.

I think the CCC is just about Albre’s level - I couldn’t see him doing that well against top forwards next season - but i still wish him all the best, he’s been here a while and done ok.

  9. wbabomber said:

Personally i rate him, but as a centre half.

My concern is that if the team spirit is so good and we are offering these players the best deals we can, why are they all leaving??
Derby and Fulham offering more money??
No confidence in us stopping up??
No confidence of them keeping their places in the team??
In Martins case i think it is the latter, having been dropped for the last half a dozen games last season and seeing Clement play extemely well alongside Barnett he probably appreciates with new signings he may struggle to make anything other than the bench.

    So will Phillips stay??

  10. The Hoff said:

Poor piece of business by the Albion I think. By no means an automatic first choice, but a very handy, versatile player who could slot into several positions if needed (which he would be over the course of 38 games). His pace at the back will be missed. Let’s hope he is replaced by somebody decent.

shame realy, good in my eyes

No great loss really, only a squad player like gera was, just frees up more wages for tm to pay phillips lol.

WHY ARE ALL OF OUR PLAYERS GOING.WE SHOULD BE STRENTHENING OUR SQUAD.HEARD ROBO MIGHT BE ON HIS WAY TO FULHAM AND PHILLIPS TO BLUES ,WEVE LOST GERA ALREADY.WERE STRUGGLEING TO SIGN A SWANSEA PLAYER ETC ( NOT LOOKING GOOD AT ALL ).DON’T WANT TO BE NEGATIVE BUT………….

Obviously not in TM’s plans!! Had some decent years at albion so good luck and hope to see you in prem soon!

    Good ridance!

So far, although we must admit you had a better Autumn, Winter and Spring, we have had much the better Summer. We have made three good signings with hopefully more to come and so far you have not strengthened at all, with a few gone or going I have no doubt that TM is working hard and will make some signings soon but so far we are ahead in the gap between seasons. Any thoughts my Baggie friends?

IAM SORRY`BUT THE ALBION ARE BECOMING A JOKE!
I`d like to know why we cant even match Derbys
contract offer,we have already lost our best
player in ZOLTAN GERA and now in losing MARTIN
ALBRECHSTEN its just going from bad to
worse, whats the betting we`ll be saying
goodbye to KEVIN PHILLIPS with PAUL ROBINSON
to follow, and then GREENING after him.

  19. Wiseguy said:

Nice one he aint prem class

  20. madgarry said:

Good luck to him if he goes, he has been a good servant to the club, but he isnt good enough for the prem, now ide like to see some news on us signing some defenders, all we seem to hear is rumours about midfielders and strikers…

  21. baggies said:

HERE WE GO AGAIN, dingles will come on and say more sinking ship ect..
we will still be higher than dingles were ever we finish next season

  22. Alex said:

What is going on here? I rated Alby. Not the most consistent defender but he was good. Must be personal between him and TM…or we have offered him a derisory deal? Can’t believe Derby would pay him more dosh - if it came down to that.

I know its early days but I’m starting to get a tad concerned now. First Gera, now this.

  23. baggie_kez said:

    good

get rid of more of the players that we’re messing us around over contracts!

bye bye, mr Alby, hope the money is worth it!

  24. Cyril Randle said:

I’ll be sorry to see him go. He was a brave defender and improved no end under Mowbray.

  25. bassbaby said:

Like Gera, he has left for money rather than footballing reasons. Shame to see greed from such a wealthy individual, but we move on

  26. S Briscoe said:

another player leaves wheels are coming off before
we have started the season please Mr Peace find a buyer for the fans sake

  27. AMS said:

I just hope this will be the trigger for Mowbray and Venus to focus on the strengthening of a back 4 that is already suspect at Championship level and lacking in depth.
On the fact Albrechtson’s going well its the same as Gera and Phillips. We will not be held to ransom. Albi has not had the best of luck with injury and selection over his time here and has not been all he was billed to be. Possibly because he never really got a long run in the team, possibly because he was not quite good enough. Still he has always given his all for the cause when it has been asked of him. Thanks Martin and Good luck at Derby.
Derby have got some American backing which financially gets them in a position to compete favourably even from a Championship level and lets face it he’d be sure to start ahead of any of their defence from last season.
Before we all start having a go at JP for a lack of ambition etc etc, lets not forget he has managed to steer us back into the Prem and that that has been done with a Plan. He has invited investment (I doubt he’ll get it) and then will use a lack of investment as an excuse but he has laid his cards on the table and he has got Albion’s interests at heart. He will have a Plan B without investment and I also would expect ToMo to be operating to that already.
It’s all to easy to comment about what should be done but I think maintaining a secure business model in the midst of the pressure is not an easy or popular road to take but reality begins to bite here on the Premiership gameboard now and we need to take one step at a time and also believe in the value built into our Scouting and academy programmes and that it will return dividends.

    17. Malvern Wulf. Yes, we had the better autumn, winter & spring. This was when the football on the pitch did the talking. Your summer signings show that you can talk the talk but when it comes down to it you can’t walk the walk!. Good luck in trying to finish ahead of Derby, Reading, Blues, Crystal Palace, Ipswich, Watford (& one or two others!) next season.

  29. howardwednesburybaggie said:

heard that phillips has gone to blues and will sign today at noon. 2year deal,15grand aweek 150grand signing on fee… off agood contact.

    17. Malvern Wulf. Yes, we had the better autumn, winter & spring - this was because the football on the pitch did the talking. It’s all well crowing about the fantastic? signings you have made in the summer, lets see what happens when the business end of the season kicks in. I think that you are going to fall a little short of your expectations. It will be a hard division to get out this season, not only do you have to contend with the teams that finished above you last year you will have Derby, Reading & the Bluenoses to contend with. Good luck my friend cos, lets face it, you’re gonna need it!.

    18 Andrew

Are you familiar with the widely known phenomenon of “the power of positive thought” ?………
if you have, then may i suggest you apply it to the club you purport to be a fan of.

The negativity that accompanies your every post is somewhat bemusing.
Ok, Gera left for Fulham, and immediately doubled his pay packet, do you opine we should have matched those terms ?

Our failed playoff season versus our successful championship campaign…..what was the fundamental difference ?

big ego`s versus a one for all mentality is the answer,
and i personally am with the club all the way, in their desire to keep it that way.

Do you rate Albrechtsen THAT highly ?
if so that is fair enough, your opinion is as valid as anyone else`s, but i have a feeling, you may be alone.

Andrew, let the manager and chairman do their jobs, i`m sure you will not be disappointed.

27 - secure business model to sell the club, not stay in the prem, sound like Moxey.

  33. Wednesbury_Albion said:

    Best news of the summer.

Martin Albrechtsen was responsible for at least 20 goals last season. He’s an absolutely woeful defender, his positional sense is awful, he can’t tackle and he’s not the biggest is he?

I’m so glad we’ve finally managed to get rid of this muppet.

    Ta ra, and good riddance.

  34. terryOXYMORONbaggie said:

I am very concerned with what is happening at the club, no new signings, best players leaving, no sponsor and worst of all no new owner/s.

Peace will not commit any major funds until a sale goes through and by that time we could already be half way through the season.

This is not what I expected so far this summer.

  36. Nedball said:

I liked Albert because of his versatility to play anywhere across the back 4.
However, I understand why others didn’t as he was a jack of all trades, but a master of none.

Good luck to him, I’m certain we’ll be getting better players in to replace the outgoings, the same as we did last year.
Out went McShane, in came the Hoef
Out went Koumas in came Tex
Out went Kamara in came Bednar and Miller
Give them time and it’ll all be that good even Mr Hodgkinson may crack a smile?!?!

Hi Malvern (17),good post True at the moment Wolves seem to be doing the buisness off the pitch and to be honest it was needed Wolves lacked ideas and depth of squad last season (just my opinion) but I am sure that Peace and TM have got a few targets that are not far away from signing we all know how good west brom are at quick signings !!!!(I am of course being flipant lol).

Dont take this the wrong way but I think its far easier to sign players for Championship football than to sign players that can keep you in the premiership
    Regards

    Baggie Boy

another player leaves to join a better club, you already had an awful defence and now you got 1 less, cant wait to see arsenal rip you too pieces. I think the players know you are destined for relegation and are going to clubs with better prospects.

  39. London Baggie said:

wolvesforever..we struggled last season in finding the right central defenders for the team, there was not the same pairing throughout the Season and their inconsistency cost us loads of goals, which were mainly from set pieces. At the start of this Season I wanted us to sign two new central defenders and I think losing Abby is no big deal. We may have been the best team in the CCC last season but our defence were found wanting hence the goals against being worse than yours. Like you say we had an awful defence and we are now moving on and will improve it !!

Driving to work this morning, i saw in the sunny horizon the floodlights at the shrine, it made me think that we are now in July and the new season is coming upon us, then i realised……we’ll be playing Premiership football….Oh the joys of summer, HAVE A GOOD DAY ALL!!!

    40) Tony mate, ive just got back off holiday, having a crap day of it…and your comment has put a smile on my face, You have a good one aswell pal!

    38. wolvesfornever. Yes, we had a poor(ish) defence last year, it was a good job that we had loads of firepower up front, wasn’t it?. I notice that wulfs didn’t manage to trouble the poor defence too much did you?. As far players moving to clubs with better prospects you may be right, I reckon Derby will turn your shabby lot over with ease!. Playing in the premiership the Mowbray way, with a swagger & a smile.

  43. Baggie Boy said:

38.. Grow up you idiot… are you Arsenal fan with so much interst in them.

I dont want to keep harping on about last season but if we had such a poor defence how come your “mighty” wolfies never scored against us.

I know this argument is wasted on people like yourself that cant have a decent debate on football related items but, dont you think the contract that albion offered him was based on him only being a squad player do you think if he was a real important defender that the club would not have fought to keep him

  44. Baggie Boy said:

Just read that albion are trying to secure Louis Saha load of rubbish in my opinion but just thought I would post it

  45. TonyWBA said:

Hope you had a good holiday mate.
I cannot always post comments that will make you smile but on the days that I cannot just smile when you read tripe like post 38, it’s always a pleasure when our lovely neighbours from down the road even try to belittle our beloved baggies just to hide their own personal dissapointment of the season just passed.
As the history books will always say WEST BROMWICH ALBION CHAMPIONSHIP CHAMPIONS 2007/8

  46. Cannock Baggie said:

    It’s all about money !
1 year in the premier with Premier money and 2 years ‘umberella ‘ payments .That means
2 years to get promoted and to start the roundabout again

  47. Warren (Albion) said:

I personally think this is good news. At least now, we know TM will be focusing on improving the back 4, which is where we need improvement.

We have some fantastic players who deserve to playing Premiership football, Albrechtsen, for all his heart and endeavour, wasn’t one of them. Bring on the summer signings.

Wolves fans, you’re sad and pathetic, you’re like the obese, ugly sister. Why don’t you go back to your own room and concentrate on making yourself look more attractive. Jealousy will get you nowhere!!

  48. E11 Wolf said:
