Freddy so close to Coventry deal

freddy.jpgCoventry are inching towards sealing the £1m-plus signing of Wolves striker Freddy Eastwood.

Agreement still has to be formally agreed between the clubs, but it is believed Sky Blues boss Chris Coleman has arranged for Eastwood at some stage to join the club’s pre-season tour of Austria, which leaves on Monday.

Rumours have suggested a deal has been done and the 24-year-old will be joining the Ricoh Arena outfit on Monday to travel to Austria.

That is unlikely to happen, but sources say Coleman has reserved a place for Eastwood to join the trip. Wolves have been haggling with Coventry all summer over the fee, with Molineux chief executive Jez Moxey holding out for the £1.5m fee they paid Southend a year ago. A breakthrough now appears to be close.

Wolves players all report back on Monday for the start of pre-season training and it seems unlikely that Eastwood will be there.

He said recently: “I don’t want to be going back to Wolves knowing I’m not going to play.”

Coleman said on Monday: “A striker is my priority now and I would be a hyprocrite if I said Freddy Eastwood wasn’t in our sights any more. He is number nine for his country and he’s a player I like.”

It is also doubtful whether transfer-listed Seyi Olofinjana, will be at Compton on Monday after action for Nigeria, who have just played four World Cup qualifiers.

The imminent departure of Eastwood could signal the start of a mini-clearout at Molineux. Swindon are waiting to hear if they have been successful with a £125,000 bid for full-back Charlie Mulgrew.

Wolves have released skipper Gary Breen, defender Keith Lowe and midfielder Kevin O’Connor, and still have Rob Edwards, Darren Ward, Darren Potter, Jay Bothroyd and Stephen Elliott listed.

Freddy, good luck mate, still can’t believe you’re going, you deserve better from our club, watch out MM, next season, he might be the played that scores 23 goals a season instead of SEB!

You will see the players moving around now that pre season is about to start. Looking at what we have bought and the money we can recruit from our sales I think the club are being prudent which cant be said about our banks and building societies. Some deals are already finalised and you will see four leave quite quickly.

Don’t get greedy Moxey - to not play him for a year then ask for the same fee is not reasonable. If they are up for paying £1m plus add ons for goals then let him go.

Good Luck Freddy, your a top striker, shame your going to a rubbish club with no fan base though…

  26. Wulf said:

Good Luck Freddy but you just didn’t cut at this level in our set up. Hopefully Coventry can build the whole team around you like at Southend and then when you can’t be dropped you will score goals.

  27. DudzieWolf said:

Good luck Freddy, you were treated really badly by the Muppet. All the above who say the likes of, get rid, waste of space, thank god etc…you’ll be eating your words and some humble pie. At least Freddy will have a manager that actually believes in him and will play him week in week out. He’ll top score in CCC and he’ll score against us home and away

its time for freddy to move on, we’ve talked about it far to long already. it split everybody in two last season and contributed to a poor season, so we cant afford to let it spoil the start of this season. good luck freddy !

  31. dswolves89 said:

Good that he’s going, now all the talk wont be about freddy and people chanting his game everytime someone does something wrong, cuase he never proved he was good whenever he came on. Just hope this is the start of our deadwood going.

  32. Tarbster said:

we all know freddy should have had a chance, he didn’t, he’s going, get over it. we should be up there next season, ignore all these boggies trying to wind us up - we’ll have the last laugh again. Sign Bobbo Balde, job’s a gud’n.

  33. wolves4eva said:

    14. its common sense to sell him for some decent money

He did less in a box than david blaine !!!!!!

  38. Old Timer Wolf said:

What a pity it is not the mad muppet going - I suppose we will have to wait until about November when some common sense will be shown and our great club will be rid of the biggest divisive influence ever to darken the doors of the great Mol.
Good luck Freddy with a half decent manager you will soon be banging them in again - just not too many against us please.

  39. Billy Wrights curls said:

Rob Edwards, Darren Ward, Darren Potter, Jay Bothroyd and Stephen Elliott, all listed. But nobody is remotely interested in any of them.

We have so much rubbish to dispose of, all bought by Mad Mick, but nobody other than Mad Mick would want them in the first place.

No bids on any of this dross that last season the Moron Mick said were his first team automatic choices!

This club is dysfunctional! It all can be trace d back to Moxey…

If anybody is interested, I have a slide presentation that shows how the accountant Moxey has taken over the Wolves and used it as his total career exploitation. Moxey is a millionaire, but we are still in the Championship. The two facts are directly connected. However, the happy-clappers will still continue supporting the great provider, Mr Moxey!

Buy your pies from the *MAIN* pie consumer! You know it makes sense…

  40. 53 years, man & boy said:

And no mention made of Rosa. Our highest scorer last season, but Mad Mick never gave him a first team chance…

    More Mick madness!

  41. 53 years, man & boy said:

    14 Jonathan

Your naive expectations are destined to be demolished once the bgig-boys report back to duty and the summer deals are done.

Look at the teams in the Championship, and it is obvious that we will be lucky to get to the play-offs. Only a happy-clapping moron would argue with that fact.

Sell-on clauses cover profit only. If we sell him for £1.5m (which is what we paid for him) then Southend get NOTHING.

  44. wolfmanmac said:

Quite frankly we failed him, he had the potential , in fact still has, I hope he doesn’t come back to haunt us as so many have.

9 simmo. So is your spelling ability pal!
With the new team more or less in place now. I think Freddy would have been too old at 24.
What a great few signing’s this last week a team on which to build a long term stay in the Prem. when we are promoted this season. Young fit players with the playing ability in place to take us forward. At Last. Thank you the management team, at last forward planning.
    Up The Wolves

  49. E11 Wolf said:

Good luck Freddy. you deserved a chance and you didn’t really get one. However the quality of yourt play when you did ‘come on’ convinces me that Coventry will have a very good player. Chris Coileman will get the best out of Freddy and sods law says that he’s a cert to score against us..

  50. Golden Blood said:

How can some of you rate him so highly. Lets have a reality check here. He scored 4 goals all season, 1 against Bradford, 1 against Morcambe and 2 against Blackpool. Followed by nearly 3000 minutes of football without a goal.

Why oh why is this guy rated as a goalscorer.

Some fans use the excuse, he may have had those minutes but he started only 10 games. 1) 4goals in10 games is not a good return. 2) other players scored more goals per minutes ration from defence. 3) Kyle has a better ration for goals and added a new dimension.

Eastwood was distinclty average and some of the fans really did have rose tinted glasses onwhen it came to Freddy, due to there hatred of Mick.

I understand the critisism of Mick but I never understood this eastwood loving.

Stroll on a new season with fresh faces and fresh ideas. And good riddence to Eastwood, Kyle, Eliott and Potter.

    Few Questions.

    Why did Mick sign him?
Did he not watch him and realise he’s not the hardest working c/f about!!??
#Why are most you fools slagging him off??
He wants to play football and that idiot keeps him on the bench because his poor ‘work rate’… Lineker, rushie to name a few never ran their balls off!!!!

I can’t wait until he comes back to haunt you…

  54. katy said:

SEB can only “bang them in” if he’s not banged up himself! Better cross everything this week - he’s in court!

Good luck, Freddy - hope you get a manager who let’s you play the way you can, not the way he wants (as if MM knows anything about strkers!!)
