Wolves’ new boy David Jones believes he can relive ‘the Manchester United experience’ at Molineux.
The 23-year-old midfielder bumped into a familiar face as he checked into his new surroundings yesterday - Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.
The pair were team-mates in United’s all-conquering FA Youth Cup side of 2003, beating Middlesbrough 3-1 on aggregate.
Jones captained a side containing current Sunderland stars Phil Bardsley, Paul McShane and ex-Albion loanee Kieron Richardson, while Ebanks-Blake had a goal disallowed in the second leg.
Although the Southport-born schemer failed to establish himself at Old Trafford - he played just four cup games in four years - he relished his time there, revelling in the intense togetherness that comes from being part of a successful club.
It’s something he can sniff in the air at Molineux now.
“I know Sylvan very well and it will be nice to be linking up with him again,” said Jones.
“We played for a few seasons together. We won the FA Youth Cup together - that was a great season because we were successful and we got really close as a group.
“We played in the reserves for a few years and there was a really good team spirit.
“Obviously United’s first team have a great team spirit with all the success they have, but I’ve been really impressed by everything I’ve seen about Wolves and I’m really looking forward to being part of this team.
“It’s a chance for us to establish a really good team spirit because since I’ve been in first teams, I haven’t felt the same team spirit as when I was in a youth team.
“When I was at Manchester United, we won the FA Youth Cup and we were all mates and maybe that’s going to be the thing here.
“I could tell that from yesterday - I’ve only met 10 of the lads but there seems to be a really good team spirit already. I’m looking forward to being part of that.
“Hopefully we can take that team spirit onto the pitch and show it in our performances.”
Ebanks-Blake was the Championship’s Golden Boot winner last season, hitting 23 goals for Plymouth and Wolves.
As a creative midfielder, Jones believes he can get even more out of the powerful striker.
“He did really well last season, both for Plymouth and then when he moved to Wolves,” he said.
“He’s a quality player and hopefully he can push on and improve.
“That will be hard because he did really well but he has the capabilities to do that and I’m looking forward to supplying him with a few chances.”

McCarthy is absolutely right to build the team spirit, that will make the difference between success and failure. We saw glimpses of it in his first season, built out of the adversity of a limited squad. Hopefully the players bought in wil add to it and maybe the atmosphere will improve without a certain welsh centre forward.
Sounds good to me.
If you are a so called “happyclapper” Mick really seems to be pulling some good players in.
If you are a “moaner” Mick should have bought Ballack on loan!!!
As captain of the UTD youth team he must have impressed someone with his abilities, lets hope he brings that to wolves
hang on whats this im reading from the fans??? not a person moaning and its brill, look its a new season so lets get behind the boys
Hope he is prepared to put a shift in…
its so much better without the big egos( freddy, oli)
6. How can you say Oli has a big ego, imo hes been a great servant to the club and not caused any trouble or ever complained. If he had wanted he could have not signed the contract and left us for nothing! You cant put him even close to the same bracket as freddy
If he was any good dont you think our gaffa would have had a punt, could be a second relagation for the young kid.ONLY PLACE TO SEE TOP CLASS FOOTBALL IS AT THE BAGGIES.
Now we just need a good fan spirit without the constant moaning then maybe we can look forward to a great season. Wishful thinking? I hope not.
Get the big-ego’s out of our club.
What a waste of time last season.
Get another centre-half.
Get another midfielder.
Get ourselves down the bookies for them 14/1 odds……..luvly,jubly!!!!
The players we are bringing in seem fine. A good defender, a creative midfielder, and promising striker. As usual, though, we have a stockpile of “talent” that nobody really wants placing a drain on our books. What possessed us to get Potter in the first place ? Mulgrew is a waste of time and Darren Ward was supposed to be OK a year ago. And why would you sell Rob Edwards ? As for Freddy, well, I think, it’s all a bit embarassing for all concerned. Fancy, spending 1.5m on a striker and then leave him on the bench. Bizarre. I really do hope it turns for us, but I wouldn’t hold my breathe.
Loaned to Preston 2005. Returned, unwanted.
Loaned to Nijmegen 2006. Returned, unwanted.
Bought by Derby 2007. Dropped for the business end of their promotion season.
Summer 2008. Found a sucker to buy their unwanted lightweight.
lol,no 7,your making so many signings arnt ya?your top class team!!nobody wants to come to u!!!
Why are we playing a friendly at WBA? LOL
MM has done some cracking signings (and a lot bad ones) lets see how this one runs out!
Let the kid smell it, because it will be gone away 2 weeks after the start of the season , when reality take over from the happy-clappers visions of nothingness!

Just when I thought the moaners were becoming optimistic…
“Jones senses united Molineux”
Nothing has changed from the end of the season. The majority of the fans are united in wanting rid of Mad Mick. There have been attempts by happy-clappers, obviously M&M coherts, to try and make it appear that Wolves fans are happy. However, they are not happy!
Moxey has now irrevocably aligned himself alongside this sad management failure, so he must be considered disposable as well.
The comments from Mad Mick on other recent articles do nothing to alter the opinion that he just makes it up as he goes along!
