Teixeira on way back in boost for Baggies

tiexieragoal2.jpgWest Brom report back to training next week lifted by the news that playmaker Filipe Teixeira is on course for his first taste of Premiership football.

Teixeira hasn’t played since suffering cruciate ligament damage to his left knee in March’s 3-0 win over Plymouth.

The Portuguese player has conducted his recovery with the help of the physio and doctor at his former club Academica de Coimbra following an operation in his homeland and is now back on his feet doing light jogging and strength work.

And Teixeira will return to England next week to continue his rehabilitation with the Baggies’ medical staff when Tony Mowbray’s squad reassembles to start pre-season training on Thursday.

Teixeira is a popular figure in the dressing room and his team-mates dedicated their promotion-clinching performance to the stricken midfielder who quickly became a big hit among Albion fans.

Albion physio Richie Rawlins is refusing to put a date on the 27-year-old’s first-team return, but the autumn schedule will be in the player’s sights as Rawlins says: “I’ve been speaking to Filipe throughout the summer and he seems very optimistic and happy with how things are going.

“The operation was a success. The swelling has all gone down and the knee is a lot stronger.

“There have been no set-backs, he is progressing really well and everything is going according to plan.

“While the rest of the boys head off to Holland and Germany on pre-season tour he’ll be staying here and doing rehab work with us.”

And skipper Jonathan Greening and striker Roman Bednar will also be fit after hernia operations during the summer break.

The summer-long contract issue involving Kevin Phillips and Martin Albrechtsen is still rumbling on.

Phillips is expected to reach a compromise with chairman Jeremy Peace over his demand for a two-year deal, but Albrechtsen’s agent Michael Johansen admits the Danish defender is still in deadlock.

Asked if the out-of-contract defender was likely to be at The Hawthorns next season Johansen said: “I have no idea. There has been no progress and that’s all I have to say on the matter.”

You are all so deluded it’s untrue. Will be loving the last 5 mins of MOTD this year, watching you lot getting hammered on a weekly basis…in style of course!

Instead of making signings your manager is out

13 Great Big Boggie - I’m only seeing permanent signings of players there last year. You da fool (and 20,000 others who think you have a prayer)

  16. Villa Boy said:

14 - hmm do you think O’Neill might just be out there looking at players as well? But then seeing as you can’t even lure a League of Ireland player, I expect Mowbury gave the Euros a miss to leave the pick of the players to the big boys

  17. Jacko said:

    5. If Tex had played for Portugal that would mean that 2,000 other decent Portuguese players had been injured. Dream on, he wouldn’t get in a Portuguese waiters eleven. But if that’s the standard that makes you happy, enjoy your time up to the kick-off.

  18. WORCESTERBAGGIE said:

villaboy,,,,villa think there one of the big boys but you aint,,never will be good enough to challenge the top four and ya know it.so dont get to cocky cos the baggies are coming to turn ya over just like the blues did ,,,PLAYING IN THE PREM THE MOWBRAY WAY,,IN STYLE OF COURSE,,OOOOOOOOOH YES.

Welcome Villa Boy to the arid pages of the E&S in June. Not many of your ilk on here. Good of you to try to entertain us all with your harmless taunts. What do you think of Luke Moore? Why didn’t he hack it at your place?

  20. Jacko said:

    18. Yeah you’ll be just like the blues how did their season finish. Even Derby gave Utd a decent game, I wonder what your one decent result will be?

  21. Asa Hartford # 10 said:

Hello Jacko. What is your motivation today? Whats in it for you? Your prediction looks very unlikely.Do you usually exaggerate?

  22. Jacko said:

Hello Asa I feel confident in my predictions thankyou and how confident are you of the forthcomming season? I wonder why you ask such questions can you only manage a tentative grip on reality?

    Villa Boys

Why the hell are you even on the E&S website? Yet agin no news other than your captain wanting to go and play for a big club so you have to come and check out whtas going on with Albion and Wolves. Get a life fool!

haha nice to see the baggies havin a go at euro bound villa! Good one hodgkinson! Tex is a good champ player but a below average prem squad member, which is better than luke moore i suppose! BOING BOING!

Nice to see in an earlier article Mowbray going for the young Irish talent. mmmm sounds familiar?

Hang on, is Mowbray running out of idea’s, it was only a matter of time before he copied McCarthy! All those times you poked at us dingles for going Irish!

COMING DOWN THE MOWBURY WAY OH YES OH YES.

Blimey, I thought the one or two daft Wulfies their supporters have to bear was bad enough but where on Earth did these Villa idiots come from?
Kindergarten? You are VERY fortunate to have Martin O’Neill as your manager, he performed miracles last season. If he loses his wand, you could be in DEEP trouble.

  28. WakeyBaggie said:

It will be good to have him back a player capable of playing in the prem and do well. These dumb wolfs and Seals really make me laugh. Was it Molineux were the home fans were fighting each other!!!! did they finish in the top 6????? As for Vila, big ground big fan base, what did they win? oh yes absolutely nothing.

  30. DebenhamWolf said:

Good to see the lad on the mend. I’m fairly sure you’ll get at least 3 points from the Villa but hope you can make the Hawthorns a fortress next season. Hope you are doing the deals needed as you will need 4 or 5 good signings to ensure survival. Really want to be up there with you and Villa the following season, then the big three from the West Midlands can progress as they ought. Good luck Baggies, some of we Wulfrunians will be shouting for you.

and remember we wont have TEIXEIRA or KIM.
    MICHAEL DANEK/CARL HOEFKENS/LEON BARNETT/
    NEIL CLEMENT/PAUL ROBINSON/CHRIS BRUNT/
    ROBERT KOREN/JONATHAN GREENING/JAMES MORRISON/
    ROMAN BEDNAR/LUKE MOORE.

Its plain to see that we need more players,
so MR PEACE get your cheque book out and stop
    being a scrooge.

Hey Villa boys, I live in Glasgow and I read the following article in a Glasgow newspaper.

‘Martin O’Neill is favourite to replace Gordon Strachan as manager of Celtic. Strachan is falling out of favour at Park Head and the Celtic board see their former manager as the ideal replacement, the bookies also make him a firm favourite to take over from Strachan.

He could also raid his former club Aston Villa for new signings as he looks to take a stranglehold on the SPL.’

27, its a little soon to say Teixeira is awesome, he cut it in a very average championship last season so lets see if hes “awesome” in the premiership. Doubt it somehow, yes you won the league but it amounts to nothing unless you stay up. The lack of transfer activity and the fact you couldn’t even sign a Rochdale reject doesn’t exactly suggest that you’ll stay up easily this time. I hope you stay up because we need midlands clubs in the prem but if i was a tesco bag which fortunatley i ain’t, i would be concerned. If all the tesco bags were being honest, i reckon they would admit to being a little worried. Pathetic? Even the Villa fans are starting to take the mickey pal!

  38. BaggyBasha said:

Teixeira?! LOL “if tex had played for portugal…” they wudn’t of got out the groups, Wacko. Championship player at best. Well, ‘least you’ll get 6 points from Hull…good luck!

  39. Michael said:

    5. i suppose if Phillips was in the England team we would have qualified for Euro 2008.
at least having Tex back will seem like having a new signing.
because you obviously aint interested in signing any new players still i suppose you will have plenty of money when you get relegated.

You`re post is a contradiction, the fact that i disagree with the views you hold is irrelevant, at least they have been constructed intelligently.

Why then, have you deemed it necessary to revert to the childish “tesco bags” riposte,
it has completely ruined the credibility of your offering.

    Anyone else.

Tiexeria, is an unproven quantity at premiership level, us Baggie fans honestly believe he can make the step up, many of you Wolves fans reckon he has no chance……….
on what do you base this notion ?

Michael Kightly is also unproven at the top level, however you are all confident that the step up is a mere formality in his case…….
on what do you base this notion ?

Is it just possible that the reason you think that is Tiexeria plays for us and Kightly plays for you ?

Just another opinion but good to see netural with positive view on our boys….

Can any Wolves fan give a solid arguement for suggesting that the Albion are sh1te considering the football lessons they have received the past few years and the fact we won the league, scoring the most goals and the Wolves not even getting in the play-offs? There was only 2 team in the division that didn;t score past us last season, have a guess who that was…….. I’d love a direct response to this from one of your lot

46 i respect what you say and the tesco thing is a dig at the likes of Terry the thicko, Wiseguy and all the other Albion fans who write the crap that they write constantly on our pages to try and wind us up. Agree about Kightly, until they’ve played a sustained amount in the prem its impossible to say. I would honestly say the same if Teixeria played for us, what i wouldn’t do is claim that a player was awesome before he played there.

  54. Wbaforever said:

    Loffinwolf

    Thanks for the reply.
The Teixeria thing was not directly aimed at yourself, and i`m sure you know there are plenty of Wolves fans out there will say he is useless by virtue of who he plays for, and i am also sure you know regarding people winding up their rivals is not a one way street.
