The clock is ticking on one of Wolverhampton’s most famous landmarks, which will be erased from the skyline in less than 48 hours.
On Sunday, the Goodyear chimney will become last the remaining building on the Stafford Road redevelopment site to be demolished.
Up to 1,000 spectators are expected to turn out to see the chimney stack fall in a controlled explosion at 11am.
Demolition experts were at the site today checking the 20 holes which have been drilled around the bottom of the chimney stack ready for the blast.
The clearance will make way for a new £150 million new development.
Residents wishing to witness the event from a special viewing area should arrive at the factory between 9.30-10.30am. Gates will be locked 30 minutes before the blast and people are being asked to walk there.
