Two remorseless yobs who terrorised residents on a Wolverhampton estate were given an extra year on their Asbos after telling a judge: “We don’t care”.
Ben Lawless, aged 15, and Sam Rogers, 16, waged an “appalling” campaign of crime and abuse around The Scotlands, Bushbury and Low Hill, Wolverhampton Magistrates Court was told.
Council wardens were also abused and harassed in a year-long bullying campaign.
They have now been banned from abusing people, throwing stones and bricks and sneaking into people’s gardens.
And a judge branded a letter from Lawless claiming he wanted to turn his life around as “clearly a pack of lies”.
Lawless, of Dryden Road, The Scotlands, and Rogers, of Neve Avenue, Low Hill, had been due to face a trial but eventually accepted the orders without any evidence being given.
Lawless has been banned from having alcohol or being drunk in public and both face being locked up if they breach their orders.
District Judge Martin Brown was about to give the pair orders lasting two years yesterday for what he called their “appalling behaviour”.
When asked if he had anything to say, Lawless replied “No”. Mr Brown continued: “There’s no promises you can give that this is going to stop now?” Again Lawless gave the same response.
Turning to both boys, he asked: “Do either of you have the first notion as to the sort of experience you have put some of these witnesses through? Do you care? They both replied: “No”.
Mr Brown, who lifted reporting restrictions preventing the pair being named in the Express & Star, issued them both with three-year orders and said there was “every likelihood” that they would be locked up if they breached the terms.
A joint statement from police and Wolverhampton Homes said: “Sam and Ben’s behaviour has deteriorated to becoming the insolent and premeditated actions of criminals, who have no respect for victims.”
