Barnsley manager Simon Davey has claimed that he beat Wolves to the signature of Leicester striker Iain Hume.
Hume signed for the Tykes in a £1.2million move, on the same day his former team mate Richard Stearman left the Foxes to move to Molineux on a four-year deal.
Davey’s move for the Canada international is the highest fee the club have paid for a player in nine years and he insists Wolves, who are known to be looking for another striker, were also in the race.
He said: “Wolves and Preston were interested and Norwich came in at the death.
“It is a significant coup for Barnsley. The fact he chose to come here is fantastic.”
