Fire hits scrapyard

A total of 50 firefighters from across the West Midlands were needed to battle a severe blaze after tonnes of scrap metal caught fire with flames leaping into the air.

Crews were called to R. Davies scrap merchants, in Oak Lane, Kingswinford yesterday.The blaze is not being treated as suspicious.

Crews, from stations including Dudley, Wolverhampton, Tipton, Perry Bar and Woodgate Valley, remained at the scene until 7.30pm.
