Coventry boss Chris Coleman has broken his silence on the Freddy Eastwood saga by telling the Wolves misfit striker: “I still want to sign you”.
Eastwood’s future remains in deadlock over the Sky Blues’ refusal to meet Wolves’ £1.5m asking price.
The Ricoh Arena outfit are prepared to pay £1m, with more to follow in add-ons, but as the only club to have stated their intentions to buy Eastwood, they remain the favourites to sign him.
Coleman has already made three signings this summer in Keiron Westwood, Guillaume Beuzelin and Aron Einir Gunnarsson.
He admits that he would relish the chance to make Eastwood the fourth.
He said: “A striker is my priority and I would be a hypocrite if I said Freddy Eastwood wasn’t in our sights any more.
“Just because it didn’t work out when we tried to sign him last season doesn’t mean I still don’t think he’s a good player.
“He’s number nine for his country [Wales] and he’s a player I like.
“Whether or not we can take it further and do a deal with his club, I don’t know.”
Moneybags QPR are also thought to be interested in Eastwood but it is understood they have yet to solidify their interest with a firm bid.
But Eastwood is believed to favour a move within the Midlands, having settled well in the area since his £1.5m arrival last summer.

On his day,George has been called the Championships Vierra & Freddie will score goals for fun again in another team.He wasn’t given the best of chances & I would’ve loved to have seen him & S.E.B. given an extended run together.

Get rid and get in Clinton Morrison. Out of contract and has a good relationship with McCarthy from their Ireland days together. I’d much prefer we get him in on a free transfer with a signing-on fee as opposed to £5million for Maclean. Didn’t Clinton once say he hated the Albion as well!

Kightly is not happy about being refused a pay rise and a guarenteed exit should wolves not get promoted next summer. He was also unhappy about the treatemnt of his injury last season when he waited 3 months for an operation after being wrongly diagnosed by the club physio.
