Walsall boss Jimmy Mullen has insisted the Saddlers have extra pulling power in the transfer market this summer.
The Saddlers are deciding to focus on a larger wage structure with the funds they have in place, in order to attract players to the Banks’s Stadium.
He said: “I have a bigger budget to work with than was in place last year and this means I can be more competitive in the transfer market.
“There have been reports that I have ‘no choice’ but to look at the free transfer market. This is not the case.
“With an increased budget, I am in a good position when it comes to talking to players about joining Walsall Football Club.”
