Brummies to mark 80-year birthday

brummies.jpegThe Birmingham Speedway Club are organising a “Grand Celebration” on July 12 to mark 80 years of speedway in the city.

The first racing took place in the city on that date in 1928. This year it lands on a Saturday.

To take advantage of that, the celebration of speedway will take the form of an afternoon and evening of activities, designed to provide something for everyone to enjoy.

The decision was to keep the event in Perry Barr, by staging the event at one of the landmark pubs in the area barely half a mile from the current stadium, the Tennis Courts.
