Coventry remain keen on Wolves striker Freddy Eastwood – despite the player declaring he would relish moving to Cardiff.
Eastwood’s future remains deadlocked, with Wolves believed to be seeking their £1.5m investment back on what they paid a year ago.
The Sky Blues are at this stage only prepared to offer around £1m up front for the former Southend marksman, in the hope of cashing in on his controversial spell at Molineux.
Wolves are thought to be playing hardball at the moment, so no breakthrough appears to be imminent.
Eastwood expressed his desperation for a move to a Welsh Sunday paper last weekend, where he declared his desire to move to Cardiff.
Yet there are no signs of any interest from the Bluebirds’ former Wolves boss Dave Jones, who is believed to only have a limited budget at his disposal anyway.
Despite his south east roots, Eastwood has settled well in the Midlands and is believed to favour prolonging his stay in the area.
Eastwood is keen to join Coventry but appeared to back Wolves’ stance on his value, declaring: “They will probably want their money back, but having said that I don’t think I am a player who has lost any value.
“I have played well when I have played.
“I was going to go out on loan at one point so it shows there is interest and when I have come off the bench I’ve done well – but the gaffer still said he’s willing to let me go.”
“So far there’s been bits and pieces of interest but hopefully over the next few weeks someone will be knocking on the door.
“I can’t see me being there in August.”

Good, can’t wait to see you go
Knowing Moxey, he’ll be looking to make a profit on Eastwood. What a PR diaster, sick of hearing about it to be honest.
McArthy can’t have it both ways, either Freddy is a rubbish player and if so we should snap Cov’s hand off at £1m or he is a good player worth more in which case wtf did’nt he give him more games? We can hardly hold out for a big fee when our own manager says he is no good.
Without talent joining WW - can anyone remind me why are we still selling?
Why should we lose £500,000 on him. He may not be everyone’s cup of tea at Wolves but is first choice in the Wales side. Before anyone start Knocking that statement, Wales are getting a good young team together and I will just mention Northern Ireland and Scotland for that matter. England struggle to beat them!
There is a differnce between saying he is no good and saying that he doesn’t fit….a BIG difference! I think Barcelona want to sell Ronaldinho don’t they….so he is RUBBISH then???
3- Spot on!!!
its all so boring!!!!
2 and 3 - you’re both idiots.
You wouldn’t sell your car on the cheap if you decided you didn’t like it would you? So why sell Eastwood at less than the going rate?
You’re exactly the type of people who complain that we’re not signing anyone. Just because we’ve got Steve Morgan’s money doesn’t mean we have to give players away or pay over the odds.
Jez isn’t very popular with fans because of his job. But it’s a job he does very well.
Shut your mouths and start backing Jez and Mick.
I think Mick realised how good a player Eastwood actually is but he’d gone beyond the point of no return so he had to keep him out of the side to protect his own appearance (fat lot of good thats done). Eastwood was a snip at 1.5million so is worth more but Coventry know we’re desperate to sell so we’ll be lucky to get the same amount back. Possibly say 1.2million + a sell on clause. Or Michael Mifsud? (not sure if he’s still there). Just please don’t take Kyle in any part ex deal with Mick saying he’s worth a lot more than he is to show we’re getting 1.5million in value.
Good player who doesnt fit with MM, hes worth 1.5million and wolves should hold out, they will get the 1.5 million.
No 3–MM didnt say FE was no good, just that he didnt fit in with the way he wanted the team to play.
I like Freddy but even Im sick of reading about this everyday! I agree with 3!!!
this timelast year wasnt moxley stating we did not pay £1.5 for him it was much less??? so even at £1.5 mill we would be making money. i think its got to be be a cash deal because we would get nothing from app & Goal scoring add-on’s …..lol…
MAKE YOUR MIND UP WOLVES………IF HES WORTH 1.5MIL THEN KEEP HIM, IF HES NOT THEN SELL HIM FOR 1MIL
GREEDY AND BAD MANAGMENT
3# When has McCarthy ever said that Eastwood is no good? He said that they way he plays doesnt suit us and we dont suit him. Which does not mean he is no good.
3 - it’s a commercial decision to get as much as money as we can for a player - irrevelant of how good or bad the manager thinks he is
same picture , same story , and this is call news from the camp ?????????? more like chinese whispers
In my opinion, Freddy has not done particularly well when he’s come on. Okay, he’s shown some good touches and has set up one or two goals for others but he has never even looked like scoring.. people were criticising the fact that we were after Lafferty despite his poor strike rate - well Freddy’s was rubbish as well!! I don’t think he has been treated particularly fairly by MM but this does not disguise the fact that he is not actually that great a striker when it comes to putting the ball in the net. Ebanks-Blake, on the other hand, has taken his opportunities and made himself an automatic first choice as a result. So stop feeling sorry for yourself Fred - okay, you’ve been given a bit of a raw deal by the manager, but isn’t it time you kept your mouth shut and moved on gracefully?
This sad sorry saga will continue to rumble on due in part to Mick’s treatment of the player, the rumours that have been forthcoming from internet sites and the fairly obvious fact that “mud sticks” and very few clubs are now willing to take a chance on Freddy Eastwood. Altogether a Public Relations disaster for Wolverhampton Wanderers and what is probably going to be a Financial Disaster as we will have to offload him for considerably less than we anticipate.
Mick has obviously made his mind up that FE is no longer part of his long-term plans and my solution would be to loan him out for a season (similar to the Henri Camara situation). In that way FE would be off our wage bill and would hopefully be playing regularly for another Championship/League One side and probably scoring on a regular basis. He would be in the “shop-window” for a season and then we probably get a decent fee for his registration.
Not exactly rocket science is it ??
we shouldnt sell him let him play more games! he’s better than keogh by miles.
Barmy Army!¬_¬
Good luck Freddy! Thanks for coming, just sorry not to see you have a good run out. Am looking forward to watching you prove what you can do next season where ever you end up.
Why`s that then Mike?
offer money plus freddy for that cardiff player we wanted not so long ago……cant think guys!!! help! scored against barnsley at wembley this year!!
“I have played well when I have played.”
What little respect I had for Eastwood just flew out the window. He has never come across as anything other than a lazy, arrogant, waste of space and I’ll be glad to see the back of him. He was a big fish in a small pond at Southend and hasn’t proven otherwise while he has been here. I find his attitude frankly insulting, the fact that he never realised in a year in Wolverhampton that he would have to work harder for a starting job at the Molineux than he did at Roots Hall is disgusting. The fact that a few brainless chavs still chant his name every week and boo the players who actually make an effort has gone to his already inflated head.
I would gladly accept 500K for him because that is all he has proven he’s worth. I’ll enjoy seeing him score against top defences like Blackpool next year while he’s playing for some awful club like Cardiff or Coventry. Ebanks-Blake, Vokes and Keogh are all better than him in my opinion so we don’t need him, just get rid.
Personally I’m tipping Elliot and Bothroyd to be more succesfull at their new clubs next season than Freddy is at his.
The truth of the matter is that Eastwood has been a huge distraction last season, for whatever reason McCarthy will not play him so you need to get rid.
18,WC,chinese whispers aint that a quite chinese tekaway by us,aye boing boing pwawn cwacker
yawn yawn yawn we want top dollar for eastwood but wont pay it for jones, maclean etc. iTs economics, its football and its so tedious
i can not wait to see him go
end this stupid sarga
No1: I totally agree. Having watched his dire performance at Ipswich last season(no effort or commitment), I said at the time he should never be allowed to wear the shirt again!
My conspiracy theory goes like this:
I reckon the Express & Star are involved in the negotiations, and are holding out on this deal, as they realise there will be little else to write about once Freddy has gone. Shame on you E&S!
(Thinking about it, there will be little else for any of us to write about - anyone got a job going??)
Please stop re-writing the same article over and over. No one cares.
Great point Dunblane !
But I’m affraid such reasoning will fall on deaf ears on the E&S.
All together FREDDAAAAAY, FREDDAAAAAY, FREDDAAAAAY, FREDDAAAAAY
Why buy a player in the first place if he’s not going to fit in? Think MM would have been a bit more careful if it was his own money he was spending.Need to be a bit more thorough with future signings to make sure they DO fit in…No.9 You would’nt buy a car without test driving it would you?
30 so what about other players that are rubbish? eg collins, potter, ward, eliott etc etc
unless we get 2m keep him if only as a squad player he is quite capable of scoring 20+ next season. will score more goals than lafferty next year
there’s just not enough women on here, mind you we have Terry so I guess its a start!
Wordsley Wolf, who are you to start throwing insults around? Any fan is entitled to their opinon! Eastwood has hardly enhanced his value while he has been here has he? I’m sick and tired about hearing about him to be honest. Whether he was or wasn’t good enough isn’t worth debating now and if we recoup what we paid for him then if it means we/he can move on from this then thats the best for everybody concerned. If we get more money for him than we originally paid, obviously thats great but if it means hes got to rot in the reserves while we play hard ball to get more money, then we will be waiting along time i reckon. If MM had researched Eastwood properly in the first place he would have realised that he doesn’t run round like a headless chicken and not signed him. Back Mick? Blind faith Wordsley Wolf!
26) You are right. I believe there may have been a bust up in the dressing room at Hull away. MM has handled the situation badly alongwith the treatment of the likes of Little, Jones and Gleeson in loaning them out. He also insisted on playing Ward out of position and consistently payed Collins, who was at fault for many goals.
It is not hard to see why we failed. Anyway, let’s not go back over old ground. Make the obvious signings and if as someone said that Wolves are quoted at 14/1 , I am getting on it!
On yer bike Eastwood. I’m sick of hearing about him.
2MIL PLUS FREDDY FOR LEDLEY
NO BRAINER!
Aint cardiff got anything as a part exchange.
26. wbabomber
I couldn’t agree more! The whole Eastwood thing has been a huge distraction. While I believe he is a player of real quality I also accept he will never fit in while MM is managing the team.
Problem for me is I’m torn over the fact that we should get rid of him for his sake and to remove the distraction (even if we lose out). On the other hand I hear we are offering sums in excess of £1 million for a player who has had one good season in the Second Division! If Peterborough can insist that McLean is worth substantially more than a million then surely we can do the same for a striker who actually has scored goals in the Championship and had an excellent record in the First Division?
Oohh my head hurts! Do we roll over and take it or do we hold out for a reasonable amount! Personally I want to see the lad do well so in this instance maybe we should cut our loses and deal.
23- as i am bored of it all.
the sooner he goes the beter, so we can concentrate on supporting the rest of team, rather than 1 player
No35: Potter & Elliott can go-they are on the list.
Ward deserves another season (not as a wide midfielder!)as a squad member, so he has the chance to prove his worth when injuries or suspensions create an opportunity for him.
Collins is regularly slated but won more points for us with his goals than he cost us with his defending, and always gives 100%.
Keogh is young and classy, with a high workrate and will definitely improve.
i am still waiting to see this super star striker your suppoused to be fred old son, the wolves aint no soft touch anymore mate do the biz or on ye bike simple as
It’s demand that determines a player’s cost. At this stage, it’s right to ask for £1.5m, although we didn’t pay that much (according to Moxey a year ago). Whether Wolves’ll get that is beyond their control. If someone rates him, Wolves could get that tomorrow. If nobody wants him, we won’t be able to sell him for £10,000, never mind £1.5m.
Just look at Rosa. He’s been on the transfer list about eighteen months, and he’s still with us. I think Rosa is quite a neat player and he’s had a rough time from Mick.
In the last analysis, it doesn’t matter what you and I think, or even what Moxey thinks–it’s what the potential client thinks that matters. And in Rosa’s case no-one has come in to take him off Wolves’ hands. It’s not beyond imagination that the same could happen with Eastwood at a price that satisfies Moxey.
Creative tension is good. Too much harmony leads to stagnation. Who knows? If Mick and Freddy have to put up with each other for another year, Mick might yet turn Freddy into a damn good player!
There are plenty of double acts in the theatre and the films, and pairs of brilliant strikers in football, where the two people can’t stand each other. Professionals aren’t paid to like each other, they’re paid to perform together.
Mick and Freddy could become a brilliant partnership! Eastwood’s got three years left on his contract so, if no-one comes in for him with an acceptable offer, maybe we can look forward to an entertaining Mick & Freddy Show!:-)
I’m the last of the obsessive Freddy debaters & even I’m bored of hearing about him now.
He is last season’s news.
Simon
If he waits a few more months Thick Mick will be gone and a new manager will play him.

The fly in the ointment there, Dingle Till I Die, is that Wolves’ve already agreed terms on a transfer with Cardiff once. The problem is coming to terms with the player!
bridgett&tonely are moor boring
dull dull dull.
50. True, Ledley wants to go to Prem now.
BTW Freddy is still our 2nd best striker in my opinion.
Reading all this boring tripe made me think about us having sold a bright young player to Coventry once before. Think his name was, Keane, they moved him on at quite a profit.Just a thought!
Up The Wolves
Hasn’t he gone yet???
Soemone said that Wolves cant have it BOTH ways - Oh Yes they can and they are! WHY? Moxey and MM are a marriage made at the Mol that’s why!
MM gives Moxey little or no grief and the fans give MM stick for being so lack lustre and clueless!
Same Old Same Old Roll on Next Season
Wonder how long it’ll be before Moxey, MM and the players start blaming the fans again?
has he not gone yet???
Same old Wolves miss out again Dont want to spend the money Main target gone i can see no one coming in Dont go with this FE dose not fit in they are all football players Rosea could not fit in and many more Dont fit in THE MAN IS MAD Keep FE
Personally I think MM should stick his pride up his butt and welcome Freddy back into the fold. Keep him and play him !! Stop jacking around !!
Terry have you got a life? all you unemployed albion fans got nuffin else to do apart from spend thier dole money on a computer to sit on E&S all day.
YAAAWWWWNNN! wouldnt mind but elliott got more goals than eastwood !! and elliott was stuck on wing.
goodbye to bad rubbish sick of all this now moxey just get rid
Keep Freddy here , just give him a fair crack of the whip this time around and not just play him as a sub , then depending on how he performs decide if he should be sold on or not.
49 wolveswolves:
I see the nearing of the new season has not lifted your spirits. I take it you wont start the new season with positivity then? Accept it mate, the guy is staying!
I s’pose it has been 2 or so weeks since the last Freddy article…I was beginning to wonder when the next on would appear?
Freddy will come back to haunt us for sure. Super Mick, buy another forward. Or play Freddy with SEB and watch the goals. PLEASE
THIS IS SOOOOO BORING! JUST GET RID OF HIM NOW AND END THIS SAGA
Bad management…Wolves…really?
Moxey has priced Eastwood out of a sale so far, and missed out on Lafferty. He wants to get players in on the cheap and sell them at a profit even if they are not regulars in the team.
Lets get some quality in on the manager and chief exec position, and lets hope Mick and Mox get posts at somewhere like Lincoln City where the low expectations of the fans means no pressure no moaning and no success.
Is it just me or does anyone else cringe when they read the word ‘relish’ in every other article…closely followed by ’snub’. I even saw a report where Mulgrew was referred to as a Wolves “ace’. Come on reporters…use other words once in a while!!!!!
As a Southend fan I am really sorry that it (for whatever reason) has not worked out for Fred at Wolves. His attitude does leave much to be desired for sure but he will always be a hero at Southed for the big part he played in our promotions, the winning goal against Manchester United etc.
I (though not all fans it has to be said) would welcome him back to Southend tomorrow given the chance but good luck to him wherever he may end up - given a chance, he will score goals in the Championship for sure.
Still think Freddie is an excellent player who given the chance could do a great job for us. I hope he stays and is given a second chance.
dont touch David Jones my granny is stronger than him !!
i also hope he is given a second chance. he is a good player. and hopefully wolves can keep him and he is played and does the club and manager proud. think about it! dont let personal issues interfere with this season please!
61. I agree tottaly with you.
