Albion break season ticket records

Tony Mowbray is drenched by West Brom players

Albion have broken season ticket records as the fans clamour for a Hawthorns seat for next season’s Premier League campaign.

The club have now sold more than 21,000 season tickets for their eagerly-awaited return to the most talked about league in world football.

That eclipses the previous highest number of season tickets sold, 20,500, during the ‘Great Escape’ campaign of 2004-05.

The Baggies now have less then 1,000 season tickets left for next season and will be optimistic those will be snapped up as well.

A spokesman said: “We are in unchartered territory because we have never sold this many tickets before. But we are optimistic - the interest is very high still.”

Fans on the waiting list who have had season tickets reserved must pay by noon on Saturday.

They can do so by contacting the East Stand ticket office in person or by phoning 0871 271 9780).

After Saturday’s deadline, the remaining seats will go on sale at the ticket office on Monday from 9am.

There are no season ticket seats left in the Smethwick End and seats are limited in the Brummie Road End.

The Baggies pride themselves on offering some of the cheapest Premiership football available.

Top price £449 for the East and West Stands is £449, with the Brummie Road End at £399.

Cue the self-congratulatory back slapping from the Boggies fans on their astonishingly loyal support. Where were the missing thousands last season? Oh that’s right, they turned out at Wembley and when it cost 10p to get in the Poorthorns. Something to be proud of…not. Going down the mowbury way, in style, oh yeah

I am a wolves fan and i think the prices west brom are charging for premiership football are fantastic, its always normally the fan that gets hit in the pocket so its nice to see some clubs not ripping us off, well done and good luck for the forth coming season lets hope we will join you up there next year.

Not only is TOMO setting a new standard for the West Brom in terms of football he is also bringing back the fashionable tank top.

  9. Redge999 said:

I agree the prices are fantastic and well done, cant help but think this is positive pr story as there has been no new transfer talk other than Barros and the club want to keep the fans happy.

Bravo. Good to see a few sensible Wulfies tipping the balance a bit.
    2 Cheltenham.
And so say all of us. If loon pants and tie and die T-shirts come back I might start going down the Disco at Smethwick Baths again.

nOT surpised that the season tickets are almost running out. Who wouldn’t want to see top flight football. Even if ur a part time surporter

Down the road, at the Custard Bowl, the Wolves management are in despair at the low level of season tickets they have sold.

What a contrast, and shows the difference that a good manager can make to a club.

    Baggies forever!

2-The last time Albion played like this was under champagne Ron,big Cyrille and Laurie were feared across the country, and so were tank tops.Mine went years ago, maybe TM just hasn’t noticed yet…

  20. clapham wolf said:

    where were they last season?

  21. Filtonwolf (Bristol) said:

Surely no surprise that so many season tickets have been sold - you would be a little worried if they hadn’t ?!! Looking at the prices it is a real pleasure to see a club trying not to rip it’s fans off just because you’re in the Premiership. Well done club and fans !!

  22. Baggie Ed said:

6 & 20 . Success invariably does attract the “part time supporter”. Remind me, how many were at molispew when you were in the fourth division??.

  23. SuperMaths said:

20 - Last year some of us had new babies and were unable to drive from Cardiff every other week to West Brom.
This year, screw the little’un and the fuel prices, I’m watching some proper footy!

    Boing Boing!!!

  24. Wednesbury_Albion said:

Well done to the sensible Wolves fans.

Those that are slating us, you really need to get a life to be honest. You were averaging, what, 4,000 in the 4th division? And yet you now average over 20,000 a season. Pot, kettle, black.

  25. Michael said:

    Baggie Ed’
plonker you lot wouldnt have survived if you had beeen in the fourth division and would have been lucky to get 100 fans.
its great to see a club not trying to rip off its fans.

  26. Cyril Randle said:

Lower prices, scintillating football, goals galore, (both ends Lord help us), an honest manager, a poker-playing Chairman, yes, we’ve sold out. We used to call it ‘a switchback ride’ when I was a kid, ups, downs, rounds, twirls, all at high speed. But it ay arf fun! How many Championship clubs will have a go this season? I hope the Wulfies do, then it’ll be nervous smiles all round. Terry, you ratbag, you gave me THAT name. Now you’ve nicked it back just because I didn’t use it straight away.

  27. wbabomber said:

I actually paid only £299 for my seat in the Smethwick, works out at £15.74 a game!!!
The pricing has reflected the economic situation at the moment, and the success is measured in sales. Now all we need is for the Vine and the Sportsman to start selling beer at 54p a pint and we are looking at happy days!!

  28. Filtonwolf (Bristol) said:

    24. Wednesbury…..at the time I don’t think that the ground would have held many more than 4,000 because most of the terraces were unusable !! So I guess 4,000 was a pretty good turn out.

  29. Telford Baggie said:

25 Michael, Jesterminute, Don’t know about surviving in the fourth we never sank quite that low, but we did do a stint in the third, when our average gate tumbled to 15,161 for 92-93 season.

Boing Boing, keep making me smile Jester

  30. TonyWBA said:

Yep £299 to renew my seat in the Smethwick End, £50 to renew the little un, whereas last season i payed £350 & £50 FOR championship football (although entertaining Championship football).

Lovely £50 saving overall for me this season for Premiership Football.

And what a great way to get the next generation attending by selling them at such a little price.

Just seen on the Albion website that McCourt’s not signing for us as he wasn’t going to be in the 1st team.

Looks like the new George Best won’t be wearing blue and white stripes next season after all!

Your posts are usually excellent but were the Full House Sold Out signs really going up with 4,000 in the ground?

  42. JimDavis said:

Last year I paid cash at the gate to most games so I probably wasn’t ever counted as being there ;-)

  43. Filtonwolf (Bristol) said:

    41. Real Bully….thanks for the compliment my friend. I meant my post to sound ironic more than accurate. After all we were really in Sh*t at the time and most of the ground really was falling down. The fact that we were getting 4,000 in with the club the state it was in was a testament to those fans. I hope you never have to suffer the same. Believe me it tears you apart to see the club you love going to the wall like that
