Wolves are set to rival Villa in the charity stakes after vowing to pledge £150,000 this year to charity – more than any other English club.
Villa recently announced their new shirt sponsors as Acorns Childrens Hospice, forgoing £2m in potential revenue next season.
While that deal will give the hospice huge publicity, it is not known whether they will receive any money from shirt sales.
But Wolves will donate £150,000 this season alone to charitable causes through owner Steve Morgan’s Morgan Foundation, established seven years ago.
The club’s community scheme is also to convert to a charity so it could become even further reaching.
Chief executive Jez Moxey said: “We will give more money than any other club in England to charitable causes. That is something to shout quite loudly about.”
The club’s head of communications Matt Grayson told the Wolves Fans’ Parliament: “We have some quite ambitious plans as to how to drive this forward in the future.
“www.wolves-aid.co.uk has recently been set up off the main site.
“From the charity, Broadmeadow Nursery (Special School) has received £13,800, Wolverhampton Multi-Handicap Care has been given £25,000 and Wolverhampton Rhinos wheelchair basketball team will benefit to the tune of £9,000.”
The Parliament was also told that the matchday programme is to be expanded from 68 to 84 pages next season, and be the cheapest anywhere for that many pages.

We have always been a charity.
Free points for strugglers.
Massive pay for over the hill players.
Excellent, proud to be a Wolves fan.
Any chance we can just applaud the club for a change?? Their clearly genuine attempts to help the community are a welcome sight in the greed that dominates football these days.
Well done Wolves and Villa!! Albion also have a long and successful history of charitable donations and activities (although I don’t expect that to be reported in the E and D!!) but either way Jez is right, this is something to be rightly proud of!!
From a Baggies fan, fair play, that can only be commended!
Its good to see the club hoping to do so much for good causes now if Mr Morgan can also show this support in building a quality squad good enought to be challenging for the top spot then he will become a true legend in wolverhampton now lets get behind the team from the off this season and cheer them all the way
out of darkness cometh light
Ignore cynical KGB, this is something to be proud of, well done Wolves.
4. Albion making charitable donations? Was that to the John Hartson Pie & Chips Memorial Fund?
Not to do with the subject but……on the BBC website there is a report saying that Burnley have agreed a price of £3m plus Alan Gow for Lafferty.
Another report on there says tha Plymouth manager Paul Sturrock has not ruled out selling Halmosi. Let’s get in there and make an offer pdq.
On the subject ….a very generous offer by the club which has to be comended.
Nice to see the club are increasing the programme to 84 pages, at least we will have something to read until the final whistle blows and we can all go home!
8 - Not really in a position to be talking about donating pies (or pints) really are you?!
Have you ever seen the South Bank go Boing Boing?!
The charity money………..it should come out of the players pockets and MM, JM and TC
I’m waiting for Happy baggie to put a negative spin on this.
Well done Wolves.
Whilst donations to charity are to be applauded, the comparison should not be with other clubs but with your annual turnover!
If £150k is more than any other club, it speaks more of the obscenity of football in general than the generosity of Wolves!
Make it £1.5m and that would be something to shout about. It would certainly reap more dividends and change people’s lives than spending the same amount on a Polish striker and then writing it off!
Round of applause for Mr Morgan, seems like a top bloke.
proud of you . at last a positive move
Come on Happy_Baggie - I’m sure YOU can find something negative to say about this???
Well done Wolves!!!

Southern Wolves - you beat me to it by 10 minutes!!!
At the time of me typing this there are 18 comments on this, the best story to come out of wolves for months - and three of them are aimed at me.
I bet you wake up evry night shouting “happy baggie’s coming….”.
I have my own reasons for applauding this story - so well done wolves.
well done wolves and morgan
Brilliant and well done to all the teams that carry out charity and community work. It’s in all our interests.
19. Dont worry happy i dont dream about you.
It does however show that many people think your comments are just negative rubbish.
I think the sad thing really is that it didnt take long for you to respond. Sometimes I go days/weeks without being on here.
You must check the site(which you moan about being anti Albion) every few minutes/hours.
You really should be sacked by now if you do have a job.
Happy_Baggie - It must be great to be so popular. I wish I was you…………….
22 / 23 - just making the point that idiots like you will take any story, however positive, and just type garbage.
Southern - yeah you are a regular scarlett pimpernell - who knows when you will strike next.
Worcester - I know…
Can’t we donate Neill Collins to some worthy cause, please!
This is great news at least we are top of the league of generosity to charity! a massive well done to wolves just fantastic to be gold and black.
fair play wolves i just hope some of the money goes to the air ambulance with what was on the news lastnight they need it
We are midlanders and should be proud.
Malvern Wolf
Not cynical, it was meant to be a light hearted comment.
However it does seem to have tweaked a little nerve perhaps?
Villa actually already donate more than that in hard cash. Much kudos to Wolves though for following their lead.
Fair play to the Wolves, Acorn is a fantastic charity. Any charity that benefits kids is a worthy cause. I did a hike up Ben Nevis for Acorn about 15 months ago.
Long may it continue!!!

Football is a disgrace.
