Motorcyclist Daniel Thomas Stevens, a 25-year-old construction engineer, suffered fatal head injuries in Staffordshire.

Mr Stevens, of Green Park, Eccleshall, was riding a Honda bike on the A5013 Eccleshall Road, between Eccleshall and Great Bridgeford, near Stafford, when the accident happened just before 2pm on Saturday.

The County Air Ambulance was scrambled but Mr Stevens was confirmed dead at the scene.

Another man was seriously injured in a two-car crash early yesterday.

He had to be cut free from the wreckage by firefighters after the smash in Dudley Street, West Bromwich, just before 2.45am.

The man, in his 40s, had multiple injuries and was today in a “stable” condition. The driver of the other car is believed to have fled.

Three people were taken to hospital after two cars collided in Wolverhampton.

The Honda Accord and Rover 420 were travelling in opposite directions along Tettenhall Road when the crash happened just before 6.50pm on Saturday.

A woman driver suffered a wrist injury and her male passenger had neck pains.

The man driving the other car was found in a nearby park with cuts to his knee.
