Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey has again stressed no bids have been received for star trio Wayne Hennessey, Michael Kightly and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.
Reports from the weekend insinuated Ebanks-Blake wants to join a Premier League club this summer, while all three players have been linked to top flight clubs since the season ended.
Moxey declared it is “complete and utter fabrication” to say there had been bids from West Ham, Blackburn or Villa for Kightly.
He also suspects the comments from the chairman at Grays (the player’s former club) to that effect were an effort to promote interest, as the Blue Square Premier club would be due a sell-on if a deal were done.
He said: “No-one’s come in for any of those players.
“I think we have eroded the myth that we are a soft touch and pay over the odds for players.
“It is difficult to make signings these days that we try to have several targets.
“If you have only one, you run the risk of being disappointed.”
Moxey also believes agents are here to stay, much to his chagrin.
He said: “We don’t like them because their job is to make us pay more money, but they are pretty straight.
“There has been a move by clubs and the football authorities to regulate them a lot more.
“I have been campaigning against it, as the Government want to take more out of the game and stop clubs reclaiming VAT paid in transfers.
“I don’t think we have any under-the-table deals, especially domestically, but I think we might run the risk of driving deals under table, especially if the regulations are not amended.”
Moxey added that the role of agents meant negotiations were conducted almost without knowing the player, until he signs.
He said: “There is not so much time to get under the skin of the player you’re trying to sign.”

Stressing there have been no bids yet is not the same as stressing the players will stay….
I missed the story about SEB wanting a move, but its not suprising. It happened to us last season when we missed out on promotion. He is the one player you MUST keep. Without his goals after xmas you would have been about 12th - he galvanised the whole squad.
If he goes I honestly can’t see you getting above 10th unless you get a fantastic replacement.
Different photo of Mr Moxey, but the same old story.
Just keep the pies coming !!!
Seriously though - Eastwood out and Lafferty in - more than twice the price for someone with a less impressive goalscoring record - is MM setting himself up for a fall not even he could talk is way out of??? This guy better be good!
How about recruiting some more talent then?
Don’t worry about Ebanks Blake, my mate lives below him in the flats at the worgs road in Tettenhall, unless they got these reports direct from Marbaya (spelling is incorrect i know, that place in Spain anyway), then this is pure fabrication.
fair play!
My mate also said that Ebanks Blake is really into his horse racing and is constantly gambling. Keogh and Kites have moved out from Tettenhall to Solihull together, they asked Ebanks and Foley to move over with them but Ebanks said he doesn’t like getting out of bed before 9.30am and compton is only down the road ha ha.
Anyway, i’ll give you more inside info as i get it. He lives next door to Olifinjana who is meant to be one of the nicest blokes you will ever meet, oh and Ebanks is getting in a few women as well
Where does it say in this interview that Jez said the stars are here to stay all he said was that no offers had been recieved.I cant understand why he put a 6million price tag on Hennesey if hes not interested in selling
Fenwolf, totally agree. Lafferty in my opinon is a gamble and i don’t think MM is in a position to take those. Judging by the first few fixtures, without sounding negative i honestly believe after last season and with the championship looking a higher standard, he will be gone sooner rather than later. MM is not the long term answer and it looks like Ince will have bigger fish to fry. I wish i could feel more positive but i can’t, we seem to make one bad desision after another. If we went up, is MM the man to establish us in the premiership with sufficient backing? Thats ultimately our long term goal and i just don’t see it.
5,keogh & kites live together?????????
yeah, thats rite-eastwood is better than lafferty-thats why celtic and rangers want lafferty and coventry and cardiff want eastwood!!!!
you eastwood lovers make me laugh, the bloke has scored 5 goals in his last 68 apps!!!! total world beater! lol
ebanks going nowhere nor kightly-he was worried about his contract cuz it had no injury clause apparently and it shook him up last year cuz his injury was a potential career ender? he’ll get a new deal b4 the season starts. wolves for promotion @ 14/1? i fancy them odds!!!!!!

Wolves Till I Die !!
Big Wolf for Chief Executive I say.
Look, it’s not as easy as you are making out. Have a look and see how many signings there have been so far, in all four divisions! Not many!
Be patient.
5 Nathan Wolves - Do you work as a reporter for the News of the World? If not, you should apply….
PS Can’t find the “Worgs Road” on my Wolves A-Z…
9 - I heard the same about Kightly and his worry at the lack of an injury clause.
This being the case, I hope the idiots who slated him on here hang their heads in shame. You’re a disgrace and this club doesn’t need you. Just a shame the other 99% of us get tarred with the same brush.
keep telling you this number 10. anthony gerrard cant leave on a free because he is 22, the bosman rule only applies to 24yr olds and over walsall would be entitled to a fee!!
as for eastwood, say to cardiff we’ll give you 1m plus freddy for ledley!!
or to coventry we’ll give you freddy for dann and fox
also sell hennessey or murray or preferably both for about 8m and buy joe lewis from peterborough for about 3m or kasper schmeichel for about 1m
Big Wolf, it must take you an age to write that little lot out!
How can he say we no longer pay over the odds for players yet is trying to buy Lafferty?
The guy would be overpriced at £1.5M.
13, the way it was worded in the press led you to believe that it was over money, thats what we have to rely on most of the time unless the player speaks out. Usually, any player who quotes that from any club is demanding money or a move so what do you expect the Wolves fans to think? The way this paper announced it didn’t exactly paint Kightly in a good light did it so button it with the slagging off!
big wolf did you not post this last week??
10, You not happy with current squad then??!
With you on Hoolahan. Rate him.
We are Wolves.
5. Olif Really nice bloke??? So what.
9. Bet365 11/1 to win league - lol
10. Dream on…
14. why would ledley come to wolves??? He’s a good player… Enjoy plymouth you bunch of muppets…. We’ll enjoy brazil v brazil…..
Well If we get those players (above) in early for us .. will us fans have anything to whine about .. NO !! Look how many derby have signed .. they have signed about 6 .. Thats how we should be acting !!
And 14.Shatpankwolves , you are right but it would be a very litle nominal fee !!
Also 5.NathanWolves keep giving us the info about the latest storys and so on please .. as it is good to read !! You should work for the express and star .. HAHA !! Cheers !!
And 15.RC .. It dosent take me ages as i just copy and paste most of it and change the bits i want .. Haha !!
BY THE WAY FREDDY GOOD LUCK WITH YOU’RE NEW CLUB !!
UP THE WOLVES !!
Why would anyone want to live in solihull, its boring as hell!
All going to Plymouth clap your hands….
Whatever happens happens… just get behind the lads..
Kiwiwolffffffffffffff
AND MOXEY STOP MESSING ABOUT WITH PERSONAL TERMS AND GET THEM IN !!
so do you think we should sign players and meet whatever demands they want?
I’m not singling you out for criticism Big Wolf, but I think Moxey gets a lot of unwarranted stick. He is a businessman and from what I see, I think he does a pretty good job - we dont seem to have players on massive wages and long contracts any more, like we used to have(and lets be honest - it never got us anywhere) and we seem to be on a more sound financial footing than we ever used to be as a club. From a footballing point of view, Moxey will always have to make some business decisions that are at odds with what the fans want to see on the pitch but they guy seems to get blamed for every loss or goal we let in. And as the above headline proves, he gets mis-quoted quite a lot.
From a signing point of view - we have to accept we are only going to be in a position to sign players that have something to prove or are still improving - the wealth of the bigger clubs in the premiership means as soon as someone half decent emerges they will just sign them up, even they are going to sit in their reserves - Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott, Ben Foster etc
youve herd it frm me iits true
wolves planning bids for boltons released players
Stelios Gianakoppolos
and
ivan campo
McLean instead of Lafferty and at a fraction of the price. Many other domestic and international sides have done well with two speedy forwards as opposed to one being normal height and the other one 6 feet 8. This said we need TWO centre halves in as priority perhaps Berra and Anthony Gardner from Spurs (he comes from Stafford) sounds like a good combo to me.
Of course, every team occasionally overvalues a player: Man Utd’s £28.1mil to Lazio for Juan Veron in 2001; Chelsea’s £30m to AC Milan for Shevchenko in 2006 and, again, £21m to Man City for Shaun Wright-Phillips in 2005 stand out. And I seem to remember Chelsea paying £30,000 a week to a reserve they couldn’t sell for four years.
Wolves too have occasionally overvalued a player. Frankowski turned out a lemon, but at the time £1.5m did not seem an unreasonable sum given his past scoring record. At £3.5m Akinbiyi seemed expensive to me, but we sold him for £5m. The four times Kenny Miller has been sold he’s cost £2m (at 20), £3m (by Wolves), £3m and, just last week, £2m (at 28). When did Wolves ever consistently pay over the odds?
This fancy of Wolves paying over the odds seems a myth propagated by Moxey to make himself look good. Recently, quite the reverse has been true. Wolves have been bargain-basement buyers who virtually never make a major purchase of an experienced player. The result? No progress (6th in 1999-2000, 7th last season) and we’re still in the rotten old Championship.
We can hope things will change under Steve Morgan, but can Moxey change his old habits?
Me too, RC (7), I’ve got my doubts about Kyle Lafferty. I suppose Owen Coyle, Mick McCarthy, Gordon Strachan and Walter Smith must be right and I must be wrong.
All I’ll say is that I was at Turf Moor about three months ago and Kevin Foley blotted Lafferty out of the game. If Lafferty’s worth £3.5mil, Foley must be worth at least £4m. We’ve got a gem there!
9 Edwolf.I wasn’t suggesting Eastwood is the answer to our goalscoring problems just that at £4 million Lafferty would have to do significantly better or the pressure will be well and truely on MM (if it isn’t already). It’s well documented that Lafferty scored 5 goals in 37(?) games last season - not the sort of statistics your want to see next to your record signing - which is what he’d be at that price!
I think Lafferty is worth much for Wolves because he can play as winger as well as a striker. He can be a top replacement for Jarvis, Kightly and our strikers.
This is essential if any of our important players gets injured. If we had a good replacement for Kightly when he was injured last season we would have made it to PL in my opinion.
Never met Jez Moxey but he still manages to get
under my skin.
(2) Nice photo… JUST RECEIVED HIS BONUS FOR KEEPING US DOWN!!!
We will lose out to Rangers for Lafferty as they have offered £3.5 million plus Gow - who we were linked with sometime ago. Do not enter bidding wars at those stakes but go for Kris Boyd, Maclean or Phillips and let’s sort Berra out!
If we are priced at 14/1, I am on it!
misterdj - “AND MOXEY STOP MESSING ABOUT WITH PERSONAL TERMS AND GET THEM IN !!”
have you ever seen a more ridiculous comment?
If you went to work today and said ” I want another 40k on my wages or I’m going..” what do you think would happen?
It’s his JOB to mess about with personal terms, so that the club come FIRST. That’s why he’s been in the job for so long… because he’s bloody good at it.
Why all the negative moxey comments? How many other clubs are making signings? (not many)… could it be that MOST FOOTBALLERS ARE ON HOLIDAY?! could it be that AGENTS ARE TOUTING THEIR STOCK TO AS MANY CLUBS AS POSSIBLE?
Really, some people have no idea.
35 Mr Smug - You may well be correct regarding the players and agents on hols etc BUT - Do you really think Jez Moxey is the man that agrees and negotiates the terms or is it more a case that Moxey reports back to the owner what is on offer or being asked by players/ their agents and the other club involved and then waits for instructions from his Boss???
It might have something to do with the fact that its NOT Moxey’s money!
You know like a - what’s the term - overpaid gopher???
1. Why the hell are you first post on our page??
Saddo…
36;I normally read and enjoy your posts, this one is absolute garbage, sorry!
Am i missing something here, so we sell Eastwood who scored 4 goals in 8 games, then try to sign Lafferty for double the money who has scored 4 in 45 games, sounds like good business to me!!!
38 - What part exactly? We dont believe that Mr Moxey has as much influence that alot of fans think he has - most players budgets, salaries etc are agreed by the owner first (as its his money) and then Mr Moxey works around that - anything above this he has to get authority from his boss - like any other business - nothing personal - just dont see Moxey as some kind of “Mastermind at the Mol”
Having also met him a few times - he does not work a room that well at corporate events - merely an observation and an opinion
We DO believe on the other hand, that most of the work is down to the Players agents - and thats why they command such ridiculous amounts of money - irrespective of Mr Moxeys claims that we are the “tightest club” when it comes to players agents fees
Funny thing is that Mr Moxey doesnt seem at all shy when it comes to a bonus payment - even when the club fails miserably time and again?
Number 1 most important thing is to keep BLAKE!
So far, same players as last season, same management, same ground, same weather, same type of ball and same height goalposts.
Isn’t it inevitable that the result at the end of next season will be the same? Maybe the sun will shine more?
42 Is that a New Signing then - Sun Shine & Can he put in a shift?
since when did eastwood score 4 goals in 8 appearances? he scored 4 goals in over 30 appearances!
take away his 2 against backpool and he scored 2 in around 30 appearances!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PROLIFIC OR WHAT!
Re Moxey, yes i do think he would pull the strings. I also agree that he is given a “top and bottom” figure and has to work within those. The club has a pay structure and has to stick to it, otherwise we’d have unhappy players. you’re an intelligent bloke, surely you can see that!
37 - cos you were still in school when the story was released.
44 Agreed really just trying to get some feed back as the usual boring stuff when there is no news - blimey getting withdrawal symptoms - This euro stuff not much help No England or anyone for that matter - think we’ll back the Dutch tonight - Now where’s those clogs?
Mr Smug (44), you are appropriately named. Wolves 6th in 1999-2000, the year before Moxey came, 7th last season and in three of the last four seasons.
Capaldi on a Bosman was offered better terms by Cardiff, McIndoe left us for Bristol City, Ledley and David Jones have turned down our terms after the clubs agreed fees, and Eastwood is gung-ho to go.
You’re being satisfied with Moxey’s performance the last eight years is smug indeed–happy with never-ending failure!
Smug by name and smug by nature! I just hope you’re prepared to pay Moxey’s next bonus for achieving f&b all out of your own pocket!
47) Nippy, Brilliantly put. Bravo !!
Moxey is a pariah, and his kind are having a field day with the “fork out no questions asked” mentality of todays football fan.
Nickel and dime mentality, may keep you afloat in the minor leagues, but WILL NOT GET YOU INTO THE PREM.
Oh boy, another year of moxey and mccarthy, thank goodness for Euro2008.
#43 re Sun Shine, he is an Irish striker who comes out to play twice a year and always goes in before the game is over.
His brother Rain Again is a little more predictable and likely to be with us through the season.
49 Is Rain Stops Play related to these two?
& Can he put in a “shift”?
#49 no he plays cricket.
