Claridge warning for the Blues

claridge.jpegFormer Birmingham striker Steve Claridge has warned his old club not to underestimate League Two outfit Wycombe when the two sides meet in the Carling Cup.

The Blues were drawn with Peter Taylor’s new charges in what appears to be a kind draw, against a side beaten in the League Two play-off’s last season.

But Aston Villa and Leicester can both testify how difficult the Chairboys can be.

Villa lived to tell the tale in September 2005 - coming from 3-1 down to win 8-3 in an astonishing match at Adams Park.

Claridge, who has played for both clubs, said: “If it is anything like that then it could be a night to remember.”

“It should be a good game. It will certainly be interesting.

“It won’t be a case of Birmingham just turning up and getting the win.”

The game at Adams Park will also be live on Sky Sports on August 13, kicking off at 7:45pm.
