Kenny return pledge to fans

Kenny Miller has assured Rangers fans he is returning to the club a much-improved player.

The former Celtic striker’s £2million move from Derby - after one season with the Rams - has proved very unpopular with Gers fans.

They voiced their opposition in no uncertain fashion during last month’s Scottish Cup final (when it was rumoured that Miller would be returning after first signing for the club in 2000).

There is no love lost between Celtic and Rangers, of course, especially when Miller scored for Celtic against the latter in 2006.

Miller, who once went on loan to Wolves, has scored 11 goals for both sides of the Old Firm.

The Scotland striker insists he is coming back to Ibrox a much more assured player than the 20-year-old Dick Advocaat signed.

“I’m 28 now, I feel a lot more experienced and a lot more confident coming to a club like this,” he said.

“You always want to progress and get better throughout your career and when you play in the

Champions League and play international level, you have got to gain some experience.

“I feel I’ve become a far better player. It’s not as if I’m going to a new club blind. I know a lot of the lads here - I know how they play and they know how I play.”

Miller knows how Rangers play under Walter Smith, having worked with him and assistant Ally McCoist with Scotland.
