Sources close to Tottenham defender Pascal Chimbonda have indicated that the 29-year-old would be interested in a move to Villa.
Manager Martin O’Neill is without a recognised right-back having lost Olof Mellberg on a free transfer to Juventus.
He was interested in bringing Chimbonda on loan to Villa Park in January.
He would have to fight off competition from Fulham and Rangers for Chimbonda, who looks to be very much on his way out of White Hart Lane.
His agent Willie McKay said: “I expect Pascal to leave Tottenham. I am speaking to several clubs.”
