Coseley’s Ball set for pro debut

Coseley middleweight Jamie Ball will finally make his professional debut later this month and is itching to make up for lost time.

The former Priory Park amateur was all set for his professional bow in April but had to pull out at the last minute while he awaited medical clearance.

It was a bitter pill to swallow for Ball who, after winning 19 of his 29 amateur bouts, has already built up a decent fanbase thanks to his skillful and crowd-pleasing style.

He said: “I was gutted when I had to miss out last time. I had sold a few hundred tickets but then the news came from the British Boxing Board of Control that my clearance wasn’t going to come through in time.”

Now, with his medical clearance signed, sealed and delivered, Ball is set to feature on 1st Team Promotions’ Black Country boxing showcase at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall on June 20.

The 23 year-old’s opponent is the experienced Peter Dunn, who has 111 professional bouts to his name. Despite sporting a record of 12-95-4, it will be a tough first test for Ball.

He said: “I am buzzing about this fight,. To be making my debut in the Black Country makes this even more special. My fans won’t have far to travel and I want to give them a performance.”
