Ten lambs have been killed and others injured by dogs allowed to roam free at a Halesowen beauty spot.
The attacks has led to the car park at Uffmoor Wood being closed until the end of the lambing season.
A decision to shut the car park was made by The Woodland Trust which is responsible for the site.
It followed a number of complaints from worried farmers about the safety of livestock after the newborn lambs were discovered dead.
It is the first time the car park has been closed and Woodland Trust spokesman Richard Bloor admitted the decision was not taken lightly.
“We didn’t want to close the car park but we felt we had no choice,” he said.
“We received eight complaints from farmers and we had to respect their requests.
“We’ve never taken these measures before at Halesowen but people must obey the rules of the countryside and keep their dogs under control.” Mr Bloor added the area would open again on June 30.
