Hearing on bridge jump man

An inquest has been opened on a Wolverhampton father who jumped from a bridge onto the city’s ring road.

Syed Misbahul Hussain plunged more than 40ft from Railway Drive onto Ring Road St David’s last Thursday afternoon.

The 54-year-old, of Cannock Road, suffered a broken pelvis and other injuries in the fall and died later at New Cross Hospital.

Wolverhampton coroner Richard Allen opened an inquest on Mr Hussain in the city today.

It heard Mr Hussain, who was born in Pakistan, had told his family he was going for a walk on the day of his death. The former waiter climbed a wall onto the bridge at Railway Drive before jumping onto the ring road. The inquest was adjourned.
