Moore move starts Baggies spree

albionbadge1.jpg

Albion today kicked off a three-day £6m spending spree by signing Luke Moore and Kim Do-Heon on permanent deals.

Moore has sealed a £3m switch from Villa, while Kim moves from Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma for £550,000 after both men ended last season on loan at The Hawthorns.

Goalkeeper Michal Danek has extended his loan from Victoria Plzen until January 1 and spending will rise to £6m by the end of the week, when Roman Bednar moves from Hearts for £2.5m.

Boss Tony Mowbray has also confirmed that Slovenia defender Bostjan Cesar will not be staying after a season on loan from Marseille.

The Baggies and Villa completed the paperwork yesterday to make Moore’s transfer permanent, while Kim has signed a deal that will make him an Albion
player on Sunday.

Moore has signed a three-year contract with an option for a further year, while Kim has signed for two years with an option for a third.

hmmmm, fresh faces needed to bridge the gap from the two divisions.

1 - Moore and Kim ARE two new faces - they played about three games between them for us last season.

I have said on another thread that although these aint new players to the club, they are two great signings - Kim looks fantastic.

Just need a little steel to go with all the skill and we will have a great chance of developing in the premier league next season.

Luke Moore…. “A waste of money in my opinion”

  4. Happy_baggie said:

3 - and your opinion means “what” to us ….???

You just keep getting excited about signing Bournmouths 18 yr old unproven kid, and leave the under 21 english internationls with premier league experience to us.

  5. rich5wolves said:

moore wasnt good enough for villa but maybe good enough for a relegation fight…….

    Underwhelming so far…

I have no doubt that Moore will be a success at the Albion, not so sure about Kim & Bednar in the top flight though….

Luke Moore isn’t going to keep you in the premiership. £3 million for a villa reserve?

  9. Baggie Boy said:

The jury is still out on Moore but I am sure he will become a hit with the Baggies. I actually think that he was trying to hard in the couple of games he played last year(if you can try to hard!)
Agree with HB on Kim looks good with a clever football brain.

We do need a tough “tackler” in midfield just to bolster the flair type players we have.

I cant see JP allowing TM to spend much more than another 5/6 million but money does not buy you class and I am sure TM will get some new cheap gems

  10. WOLF said:

Luke Moore for 3mill!! HA Ha what a signing. I saw him for EngU21’s & he was absolutley useless!! He can replace Phillips when he pops off for a 2yr deal!!

  11. Boing Boing said:

Come on lads have faith in our Moore. He’s got a proven Premiership record at the Villa & what was it 2 hatricks in one season for him ? With a full pre season behind him he will bang in the goals. He will be our top scorer next season & get the winner against the Ville. Going onto Kim i think 550k is a bargain for him. Only downpoint is he;s not physical. Iv’e seen no confirmation about Danek, Anyone got a link? The futures bright! The futures blue & white. Boing Boing.

  12. baggie_kez said:

Luke Moore……has hardley played, and can therefore not be clased as a waste of money

young player, quick, and a good eye for goal…

good signing, and will be brilliant next year with a full pre-season behind him, which was his main problem when he was with us on loan.

  13. wbabomber said:

Kim looks a good bit of business, £550,000 for an established international, and although we have only seen a few cameo performances, he looks a typical Mowbray player (technically sound but physically weak). I think once all these niggly bits of business are out of the way we will see some new signings start to come through the door. I wouldnt be surprised to see a few loan signings from abroad towards the end of the transfer window.

  14. Richard_Baggie said:

Well was hoping Bednar would go but happy with Moore and Kim. Don’t get me wrong Bednar has had a good season with us in the Championship but think he is not good enough for the Premiership. I think the 2.5m that we have spent on Bednar would be better spent on a younger player?

  15. laughingwolf said:

luke moore your 4th choice striker in the championship. 0 goals in the championship. hear jonnos been saying that kamara, koumas and mc shane should of stayed at albion even though they are all at bigger, established premiership clubs, pathetic comments weak attempts to keep the captaincy by saying things the fans want to hear. gera and phillips signed yet?

  16. laughingwolf said:

    4. you mean the full welsh international sam vokes? at least know what your talking about before making a point! look at the facts 0 goals in the championship!

Daneks loan has been extended until Jan 09.
Moore is only 22, he is a striker and therefore feeds of confidence, he has undoubted ability but will need to be encouraged by not only the coaching staff but also by us the fans, it also means my mate can wear his four year old “Moore” shirt again!!
But seriously, we the fans need to provide the support for the lad to conquere his demons and help him get back to the sort of form that made him one of the most exciting English players of his generation.

  18. Happy_baggie said:

Bomber - since when has a typical TM player been physically weak ??

I bet you couldn’t knock Tex off the ball…. Yes we do seem to buy “small” players - but weak ?

Judge Yoda by his size do you…??

  19. dappa100 said:

five games in and you will see wot the tesco fans will say about moore and co

  20. brummie rob wolves said:

If Albion seriously think that they can spend £6 million on players they had last season plus only another £6 million (see 9), they are in serious trouble. Wolves and Blues need to be spending that more or less in our division Luke Moore’s senior record- 103 apps and 18 goals for Wycombe, Villa and Albion. Poor but could get better!

  21. Happy_baggie said:

    8 - what a stupid argument - its like saying “250k for a conference player” ?

Players fall out of favour at clubs, or new players come in for big money. LM cost Villa nowt - they aint gonna play him before harwood, Carew and Young ect who cost millions.

16 - has he been capped ? I didn’t realise belamy and earnshaw were injured.

This is pointless because the dingles have this belief that Albion only buy rubbish - and we all know what happens next don’t we !!!!

I remember all the “who” comments from last season - Koren - who, Tex - who, Morrison - who and so on… i bet you know who they are now.

The ball is now rolling. Just like last season the transfers will start to flow. I still think we need another 3 or 4 Mowbray gems and a couple of proven quality players to have a good season next year.

Well, i would like to say i think the signings are fantastic, Kim is apparently the one to watch next year and i think he will have is part to pay during the busy chrimbo period etc.

Lets be under no illusion, luke moore has the potential to be an amzing player, his technical ability is there for sure, and his finishing as a boy had him tipped to shine for england with rooney. its been tough for him so far but lets face it, if any manager is gonna make this kid shine, its TM! he will hit us 10 plus next year and as long as the rest of our players chip in that will more than do!

Also, there is no shame in not getting in the villa team at the moment, they are pushing for europe and aiming to sign top international stars!

roll on the premiere league, cant wait for west brom to prove a lot of jealous people wrong next year!

  35. Baggy Phil said:

From what i’ve seen of Moore in the few games he played for us, he didnt cut it! Not sure he’s worth 3.5million! Think the Money could have been better spent!

  36. Dave said:

I have to say that I’m sill not convinced on Luke Moore. We could have spent half that amount on keeping Philips, who I’m sure would give us a better short term return on the cash. I can see Luke Moore has potential, but he seems to lack the killer instinct that Phillips has. I fear that Moore, despite improving, will not be up to scratch next year. I hope I’m wrong.
Kim is an absolute bargain at that price and I’m sure he’ll be one of our better players next year.
Bednar is a star for me. He’s gone off the boil since he got an earnia, but he’ll come back fighting fit. Out of our current crop, I can see Bednar being our top goal scorer next year.

    Just my opinion

  37. Happy_baggie said:

Bomber - olofinjana couldn’t knock him of the ball and we all know what a physical player he is (see previous thread for joke).

Ouch i bet that still hurts You little Boggy hearts ? *Oh and 2 hatricks in one season? Try 52 goals in one season ;)*

Roman bednar, Ishmael miller and even craig beattie over Luke moore any day. He reminds me too much of Leon clarke!

Atleast sam vokes has Scored for Wales Under 21′z And has been called up to the full team. Luke more played 5 games for england under 21’s including the basically non exsistant appearance at molineux and is yet to score? Proven international NOT!

And as for a proven premiership player. 5 Years in the premiership with Villa and 14 goals? Keep kevin phillips jesus he scored 30 in one season before lol

Didnt realise Boggy fans were so hypocritical.. You lot spend day after day refreshin the wolves pages, seeing if theres a new blog you can criticise and try and be funny about.

And i dont care what division he was in 50+ goals in the third tier is amazing. For instance.. A third english tier football team.. Leeds United…. Imagine if Jermaine beckford scored 52 goals next season..

And he might of not got top goal scorer but the only reason for that is because some1 elswhere was scoring amazing amounts

    88/88 - Bully scores 52
    88/89 - Bully scores 50
    89/90 - Bully scores 27 in the 2nd tier
90/91 - Bully scores 27 again in the 2nd tier

Baggie Stu’s reply implied Frankowski, Eastwood and Ward were more of a waste of money because they’re not good enough for the premiership…..where as Moore has played and scored at the top domestic level.

Kim Do is a bargain, looked realy good in the little we saw of him.Bednar should be okay in the Prem with the service from Brunt and Morrison,so Tm has just spent 6m on 3 players, that still leaves 3.5m from the Davis deal and we aint touched the Prem money yet

As A wolves fan, I think from Midfielders to forwards Tony Mowbray has done very well in the transfer market and yes Luke Moore should be given a chance! Tony has only made errors in the back four as i see it and he had to go to clement to sort it out.

So lets just wait and see!

Yes ANY signing is a risk - Chelsea risk millions and millions - sometimes it comes off (Drogba) and some times it doesn’t (Anelka and Shevchenko).

But without the gambles we go nowhere - TM has had plenty of success and some that aint done so well (Martis, tininho) - but we move on.

The banter’s interesting, but opinions (especially from the vile and wulfs)count for very little in May.Come august, wulfs and blues will be looking up,wishing they were in the elite, while the witton whingers expect us to be pushovers-can you see TM standing for that?Against a Toto team turned over at home by Wigan?Don’t make me laugh.

    Well Done Mr.Morbid Mowbray.

OOOOOHHHH I forgot bout this George Best double over in Ireland - was his name PADDY McCOURT.
OOOOOHHHH Think he wanted a well stuctured ambitous club in the Premiership - ya’ve lost out to Hull City.

stevecorica.legend - spent 5.5 Mil and were top goalscorers in ALL divisions. If you had scored a few more goals (or was it two) you would have got a run out in the play offs. Premiership club, Big Ambitions, Sold out every game next season, the novelty of beating you has now worn off - on to bigger things.

97 - How many times did ya sell out in Championship???
Wait a minute - was it reduced admission last few weeks to ensure The Boggies could’nt see all the empty seats eh.

    98. How many times did YOU sell out? Your average attendance was a little over ours i recall. How many times will you sell out in the CHAMPIONSHIP next season??
