Body of man found in garden

A body was discovered at the bottom of a garden in Dudley by a man who went outside to feed the birds.

Glyn Rudge made the grim discovery at his home in Molyneux Road, opposite the former Moot Meet pub in Netherton.

He found the man’s body just before 6pm on Saturday.

Mr Rudge was filling a bird feeder at the end of his garden when he noticed the body behind the thick trees at the end of his garden.

The dead man was wearing a white T-shirt, red shorts and trainers and had grey hair.

He said: “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.  He was face down and I didn’t know if he was dead or if he had just fallen asleep.

“I didn’t move him, I just went straight in and phoned for an ambulance.”

Mr Rudge said he believed the man had fallen into his garden from a high wall on land belonging to the Motor Village car showroom next door. He claims CCTV footage from the car showroom next door captured a man falling last Tuesday.

He believes the body could have been lying in the garden ever since.

Police have refused to comment on how the man died and have not released his identity but the death is not being treated as suspicious.

An inquest is expected to be opened shortly.
