All change at the top for Hednesford

Hednesford have appointed new chairman Andrew Savva in a move which could eventually see him take over the club.

The 47-year-old Wolverhampton-based Greek restauranteur, whose investment has seen Dean Edwards appointed manager, has taken the chair from Steve Price.

Savva, who is a big Everton fan, will pump a near equal amount of money into the club as Price next season.

“There are plans that the budget will be increased,” said managing director Terry Brumpton. “But in 35 years, Dean Edwards has been the only manager who has said the budget is OK. There might be a situation in six months time where Andrew feels like taking greater involvement.

“I don’t want Andrew to be throwing good money after bad but if we get into a position where we need an extra push for players for promotion or the title then Andrew will come in and provide extra money for that.”

Brumpton said Savva’s plan is to increase income to the club.

He said: “If he can do what he’s setting out to do, it will create extra income.”
