Sam Vokes is a quality young striker with a lot of potential - would be very happy if we pulled this one off. My only concern would be if he didn’t score in his first five games then the moaners and whingers would get on his back and destroy his confidence, as they seem to like to do!!

good career move for vokes, yet another drop down in the amazing career of BOTHROYD!! haha

We can post again on Rumours

    Bonaventure Kalou

Looks like a midfielder according to Wikipedia rather than a Defender, also rwading through his stats he scores the odd goal or 2 also eith 12 international goals for Ivory Coast.

Beckford not sure myself 24 years old but is he good enough for Premeirship football, i have’nt seen him but surely only being at scunthorpe on loan last season would’nt warrant a premiership place.

    Kamara……why are we interested

  6. we8wba said:

Wba - i watched beckford couple times this season whilst going leeds games with my mate!

i personally think he is bit greedy on the ball (sometimes useful to be greedy as striker) he likes to drift in from the left wing more than being natural up top striker! but sometimes he tries to be superman to much and take on the whole defence!

could be good signing but personally i think theres better players for you

Don’t know much about this Sam Vokes. Checking the Bournmouth site he did score 12 last season but I don’t remember him setting that league alight - and don’t forget Bournmouth were relegated. Can’t help thinking that if we are going to get another striker then we need one of proven ability and be prepared to pay for it.
Think we also need some more quality in midfield - how about Peter Whittingham from Cardiff - and definitely a couple of good central defenders.

  8. NathanWolves said:

1 Greg - i agree that Vokes is class but dissagree that the wolves fans would get on his back. You must think bad of the majority of the wolves fans mate!
If you a referring to the Keogh debarcle, that only happened because people thought we had a better forward on the bench. People would give this guy a chance and if he wasn’t producing then MM would replace him on the pitch. Lets not jump to assumptions about the fans reactions.

    1) My concern would be if he scores a couple in his first few games Thick Mick would drop him and just give him 10 mins as a subsitute for the rest of the season.

    mmm interesting… vitalfootball.co.uk

The only man who can seriously challenge Roman Abramovich to the right to be called Russia`s richest man is believed to be eyeing a move to buy West Bromwich Albion.

38 year old Oleg Deripaska who`s wealth is estimated to be some $28 billion, putting him ahead of Abramovich according to some valuations, is known to be keen to add a British Premier League club to his current interests which span Metals, Energy and Construction. A spokesman for London-based Mr Deripaska refused to be drawn on plans to acquire the club but did confirm that football was a passion of the Belarus-born billionaire and that he was currently studying a “number of potential opportunities”.

Current West Bromwich Albion controlling shareholder Chairman Jeremy Peace is believed to have held a meeting with advisors of Mr Deripaska last week as he seeks to find investors willing to finance an ambitious plan to establish the club initially as a mid-table Premier League club before pushing on and taking the club to even greater heights. It is known that Mr Peace would not stand in the way if such an investor could be found.

Sources close to Peace said “If someone came in with a really substantial investment proposal, he`d be duty bound to consider it. If he felt it was a sensible deal on behalf of the club, shareholders, fans and other stakeholders, and it made sense, he`d progress discussions”.

Albion to swoop for Barca starlet.
    Camp Nou to Camp Albion
Giovani Dos Santos, one of the most thrilling teenage prospects currently plying his trade in Europe, is believed to be close to agreeing a season-long loan to the Hawthorns from Catalan giants Barcelona. Dos Santos, concerned at the departure of Rijkaard and the imminent sale of Ronaldinho, Deco and Eto’o, believes that a year in the Premier League playing a style of football which has not only gained plaudits from all corners of the UK but has caught the attention of many Continental coaches can only put him in good stead for his future career development.

It is believed that Tony Mowbray had also earmarked Bojan Krkic as part of a double swoop, but owing to his eye-opening impact in the latter stages of the Champions League, Joan Laporta has moved swiftly to place a transfer embargo on his Spanish U-21 starlet, potentially placing him at the centre of the new generation of football at Camp Nou.

Filton, Didn’t Bournemouth lose 10 points for going into administration though? I am sure I recall that happening.

Also, if Keegan is interested, Vokes must be a good prospect. Keegan has, like us, only ever struggled with defence, not strikers.

Remember Wolves is a strengthening business .. WBA is a money drain on a yoyo string.

    I rest my case

An 18 year old striker would be a good move. Apart from Craddock and Olifonjana, we are a young side but he might be more tempted with Newcastle, although he is unlikely to get a game there.
We have to stop the talk and show the money. We do not have to wait to sell to buy as we have the money. Centre halves are the priority, then a centre forward, followed by a midfielder.

  19. Wednesbury_Albion said:

Anything posted on vitalfootball is a load of garbage, trust me. There is no Russian, there is no interest in either Beckford or Kalou, and I doubt the current squad would be too happy with the return of Diomansy…..

Wolveswolves, still missing Freddy are we? Up until Christmas he had started as many games as any other striker at the club, and scored four goals. He also played at least a dozen games where he had at least a half-hour to a full half. Still, don’t let a silly thing like facts get in the way of your anti-Mick, and adoration of Freddy feelings. After all, Mick did drop SEB when he came in and was scoring regularly. (Oops, no he didn’t. Could it be that he judges strikers on their willingness to play for the team instead of self gratification?)

I dread to think how you will cope with life if MM should get us promoted this year.
