Albion keeper Steele leaves

steeleprotests2.jpgMichal Danek was today backed as a future Albion star as fellow goalkeeper Luke Steele finally cut his ties with the Baggies.

Fellow Czech star Roman Bednar, who has renewed his old friendship with 24-year-old Danek since the pair linked up at The Hawthorns, believes the on-loan Viktoria Plzen man can match the form of Scotland international Craig Gordon.

Bednar and £9m Sunderland star Gordon were team mates at Hearts and the striker sees similarities between the two keepers.

“I was with Michael in the under-20s World Cup so I’ve known him a long time and I’ve always thought he was an amazing keeper,” said Bednar.

“I think he could play in the Premier League. I played with Craig Gordon (Sunderland keeper) for two years at Hearts. He and Michael are similar ages and he’s tall - I think he could be anything he wanted.

“If he got his chance, he would take it.

“Michael’s not as good as Craig Gordon yet but I think he’s getting there and could be a very good keeper.

“He’s played reserve games and got used to England. He could be a fantastic goalkeeper. ”

Danek’s loan from Plzen is expected to be extended under the terms of the move that brought him to England in January.

But Steele has now ended his association with the Baggies by signing a one-year deal at Barnsley.

The former Manchester United trainee spent the end of last season on loan.

Can’t help but feel that Luke steele didn’t fit into our happy dressing room - he seemed very vocal about deserving to be picked when deano was doing ok.

Did he come in with an attitude of “I’m from Man Utd so play me” ??

No doubting his abilities, but you need more than just ability to play for TM.

All the reports on Danek are positive so I think we are well covered with him and old Golden Gloves - do we really need a third top keeper ??

I love the headline on this story…. albion keeper leaves… thus giving the mindless a chance to post their “sinking ships” garbage again - yet the fact that our (currently) 2nd choice keeper is highly rated gets a little add-on at the end.

Look, we understand that times are tough for the wolves fans, and that this paper is essentially wolvo based - but to keep giving the baying crowd a chance to make themselves look (even more) stupid is bordering on cruelty.

Let the poor dears get over last season before making them get all upset about the next one.

p.s - are the E&S going to send a reporter to the Albion to get a photo taken with the trophy ? (its only a tenner)…. Who knows, maybe you could then actually print a picture of it and do a story about us winning it !!!!

All the wolves fans who were “disgusted” that we didn’t have a parade must be desperate to see it.

This story about the Russian billionaire turned up on the Vital site this morning. It said that JP has had talks with his people over a potential takeover, this guy has more money than Abramovich according to the writer. Looks like we will become the Albionski. Maybe we could buy Wolves as a feeder club and training ground lol.
