A 19-year-old motorist died after losing control of his car on a busy dual carriageway near Wolverhampton.
Members of the public dashed to the aid of the driver who is believed to have been thrown from his vehicle but he died later in hospital.
The accident happened on the northbound stretch of the A449 Stourbridge Road, opposite St Anthony’s Cheshire residential home, in Penn on Saturday evening.
The black Mini Cooper had been travelling towards Wolverhampton from the Wombourne direction at around 8.20pm when it left the carriageway and veered across an empty access road in front of a row of houses.
Residents and other drivers, who stopped to help, contacted the emergency services and the driver was taken under police escort to New Cross Hospital where doctors tried in vain to save him.
