A car carrying pizza ingredients was found overturned in trees on the embankment of the M6 motorway.
Two cars ended up on the embankment of the M6 and one on the hard shoulder following a three car crash yesterday.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the northbound carriageway between junction 4 at Chelmsley Wood and 4a for the M42 turn off shortly before 4.40pm.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews found a car carrying pizza ingredients overturned in some trees on the motorway embankment.
“The driver inside was trapped, but not injured. Because of the precarious position the car was in, ambulance staff righted the car and got the man out before fire crews arrived.
“A second car was also on the embankment. No-one from that vehicle as injured.
“A third car was on the hard shoulder some distance away.
“Its driver, a woman in her 30s had a neck injury. She was immobilised using a spinal board and neck collar and was taken to Heartlands Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
Jo Carroll of the Highways Agency said:“There were tailbacks of around two miles while the incident was being dealt with.
“Lane one was closed when the incident happened at 5pm.
“At 5.15am lane one and two were closed, lane two was reopened at 7.30pm and the motorway was running as normal by 9.40pm.”
