Having watched the episode of EastEnders on May 12, I find I must put pen to paper and voice my opinion on the storyline.
Ian Beale found his daughter, Lucy. She had run away because he slapped her for the trashing of the family house during a party (personally I would have had her arrested and charged with criminal damage then put into care). She ran away because she wanted to teach him a lesson!
In this episode he took his family, along with Lucy, for a reunion meal, but she declared she needed some space and left the rest of the Beale clan to finish the evening on their own. This is a child of 15!
After Ian complained that he had only done it to bring the family back together, he was berated by the rest of the party and told to let her go.
For goodness sake, what message is this giving out to the youth of the country? I know they are only trying to portray the culture that exits in the UK today, but have we got to have it put in front of our already vulnerable youth, showing them even more rudeness and disrespect for family values?
How low is the BBC going to have to stoop in the vain hope of winning the ratings war? Isn’t it time we stopped all this pandering to the youth of today and brought back some good old family values, and stopped churning out this kind of rubbish which is poisoning the minds of already mixed-up children?
Children is really all they are. Let’s stop taking this wonderful time of life away from them.

I Agree i watch tv to escape from the world we live in. The last thing i want to see is some ome burying their little boy as in emmerdale. I get fed up with stupid story lines about children swapped at birth YEAH as if you don’t recognise your own child when it’s born! Most soaps don’t even simulate real life and i can tell you that The east end ain’t nowt like it is on Eastenders go and see if you don’t beleive me you wont see any Ian beales at all!
You need to get out more.
Whilst TV like this is aired a zombie is produced watching it every minute. Sadly the days of thinking peoples TV is nearly over !!!!!
I do get out and around london thats why i’m saying the eastend ain’t got no ian beales in it!
Where would us ignorant blackcountry folks go by the way?
Rebecca - too right. If you let a soap opera influence the way you bring your kids up then it’s a sad day.
Wow. I hardly know what to say. Surely this has to be a pointless exercise. Does anyone know that it’s not real. I agree with Rebecca. Tom Davies should get out more. Dont you think putting your child in care for ‘wrecking a house’ (read:typical party leftovers) is a bit harsh?
Soaps are a total waste of time,(if you enjoy them fair enough) I stopped watching them when I had children as they were on at bed time. I do not miss them one bit and I certainly would never let my kids watch them, they can be really violent and depressing.
Most TV is fantasy based ans we are all guilty of watching it. Some people enjoy soaps others enjoy drama and some enjoy films. All of these are fantasy and no different to soap operas they give people an escape from the real world. There is a danger however of how serious people take these programs and we all know we have a society of very sad TV addicts. Don’t forget the sad people who also like the game shows as well!
Having just come back from a holiday abroad in Malta i think it is Rebbeca who should get out more, whilst out there i went for an evening meal in the local Chinese restaurant when a gang of local Maltese youths came in, thinking there would be abuse, swearing and the usual mayhem that you get back in the UK when the youth of Britain get together, i was pleastantly suprised to find no shouting or swearing or any bad behaviour what soever these were young people who had respect for other around them so sadly lost in the Britain of today, so to say i ought to get more is rather an understatement on Rebbeca’s part i DO go out and can see the kind of behaviour that the youth of Britain has dragged itself down to by watching not only British TV but all the rubbish that comes over from the States, think long and hard Rebbeca when this kind of stuff was not on the tele and respect for other peoples space was not an option but the rule.
Its a soap, its not real, I think you are taking this story too serious, probably another do gooder
Is it art imitating life, or life imitating art?
All soaps are a load of rubbish and a characature of real life anyways. I mean ken Barlow has seen 3 murders, been married 3 times, had 10 affairs, and he’s probably the most boring man in the country for god’s sake. There’s an easy solution to the rubbish on tv you know. Stop bloody watching it!!!!
