I think Martin Swain would make an ideal manager at Bescot. Clearly he agrees with everything Bonser says, and doesn’t feel the need to question the current regime on many of the pretinent issues that many supporters are starting to question, broadly speaking, the issue of the ground-rent and the pitiful way that the club does business with its supporters. Both of these issues severly restrict the amount of money available to the team manager resulting in the best young players constantly having to be flogged off to the first bidder to keep the pension fund, err sorry I meant football club, afloat. We need fresh ideas, some inspiration and leadership.
i actually agree with everything he said. We are a small club who survive on sall attendnces. If we hd a bigger average attendance we wouldnt have to sell these players.
Ill support te new manager come what may. I dont understand all this negativity as we finished 12th and who wouldnt of settled for that at the beginig of the season.
I am dubious about aving daid kelly as manager as he has no managerial expereine and it sounds like h could be a nother paul merson and we all know what happened when he took over dont we.
Swain, please, please, please…. go find another job. Your are about as in touch with Walsall fans as I am with the mating rites of the spotted beetle….
You are as per normal talk out of your rear.
Same old, same old twaddle being talked again.
Shame that some of our fans still are falling for his flannel.
Why don’t the E&S ask the real questions?
Rent, price of Freehold and what happens when the pension fund matures?
What happens when the pension fund matures Martin ? You haven’t got a clue, if you can answer the questions on the rent then please feel free.
We pay X amount a year to Jeff’s Pension fund which limits us as a football club. We threw away this season because we haven’t got any ambition.
Bonser Out. Pension Fund Out.
Oh Come On E&S, You can do better than that. Real questions please before the hardcore 3500 start dwindling away from the Banks’s
Rent? Pension? Ambition? I’m afraid there are a lot of fans begining to see the real Walsall FC, The last thing we need is a Suntanned Martin Swain saying Everything is rosy and Jeff will pull a “Rabbit out of the Hat”
This interview sums up Walsall football club - very poor public relations. Week in week out very little comment from the club to generate interest in the fans during the close season (just look at E&S website - desperate for something to report)
What attempts are being made to interest the public who are not fans ? - at one time each match was advertised throughout the town. What about some pre-match and half time entertainment to attract marginal football enthusiasts. And, of course, a few goals would be good for the fans - whatever the league postion we used to be entertained by Colin Taylor, Alan Buckley and admired Tony Richards. Who will remember any of the current crop of contantly changing players ? Money was wrong to moan about the moaning fans. When will the club ever learn to entertain - this is a Saturday afternoon out -This is what we pay them for!
Martin. As fellow saddlers have mentioned, don’t ask the ‘obvious’ questions with Mr Bonsor as all you will get is the same ‘obvious’ answers; he has a script which MUST state - small club, small attendances, invest in youth, tight budget for any new manager blah blah blah blah. He is investing in the club for his own capital benefit and NOT the playing team which, remember, the loyal 3000+ fans are turning out to watch every week. How dis-heartening is it when you’re 4th in the league and see your best players going without any attempt whatsoever in being replaced….. whoops sorry - Brown (never played) Moore (one game one goal wonder). Then suddenly we disappear from the play offs with not so much as a whimper. I think Mr Bonsor will have a real shock next season as message boards I’m reading imply we will be throwing a hell of a lot of away support this year at the expense of home support. Cutting off your nose to spite your face you may say - looking after the penny’s and value for money is the reply you’ll be getting from the saddlers loyal.
What manager do I want at the club? Does it really matter when it’s still the same optimism-draining, de-motivational idiot at the top?
Express & Star, stop this drivel and start becoming real journalists. How about asking Bonser what price he’s asking for the club and land? (You know, something that actually matters).
Wow, what investigative journalism, bringing us such insight as small attendances, small bank balance, need to sell players etc. Martin you really are wasted at the E&S, surely Fleet Street beckons?
When’s that new stand been built?
Has anyone seen Jimmy recently?
Anyone know the plans for the free hold?
qestions questions
So what your saying is we will have another yes yes yes manager, i refuse to go to another home game untill J.B. has gone
that makes two of us themill,is there anyone else?
9. 3000 loyal fans? Our avge gate was nearly double that. I suppose you think oppo teams brought 2700 every week? Its small talking aim- low types like you that give lazy journos their ammo. Get your facts right.
I love it…FINALLY…We are ALL peeved off at Bonser! Ive hated him for the last 5 seasons, he needs to go, lets not let this rest come August! WE WILL FORCE HIM OUT
BONSER PACK YOUR BAGS!
