An academy aimed at sharpening the skills of junior players opened at Wolverhampton Sports Arena, in Racecourse Road, at the weekend.

Ex Australian number one Pat Orreal has joined World No 27 Wayne Jones and former top 50 star Darren Williams, both from Wednesfield, to teach at the academy.

Pat said: “This is a great opportunity for us to give something back to the kids.”

Darren added that playing darts could teach children maths and social skills.

Child prodigy Jordan Singh, nine, who has appeared on the Paul O’Grady TV show, was among the first to sign up.

His mum Michelle, from Bloxwich, said: “I think the academy is a brilliant idea.”
