Foley grateful to Wolves boss

foley4.jpgKevin Foley has revealed his debt to Mick McCarthy and is convinced the under-fire Wolves boss will lead the club to promotion next season.

Foley is one of the club’s young guns marked down as Premier League potential with Wayne Hennessey, Michael Kightly and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.

The right-back, who cost £700,000 from Luton last August: “I think we’ve got a big future here and I don’t think it will take a long time to get where we want to be.

“It’s nice to see the gaffer has the support of the board because he is building for the future. He’s had a massive impact on my career. First of all he put his faith in me last summer. I don’t think a lot of people knew me when I came to Wolves. My agent made contact with him and when I played against Wolves last season, he said I had a good game.

“He went to watch me a couple of times before the end of the season and in pre-season and I’m thankful he put his faith in me. When someone does that you want to repay them and I’m glad to have done that this season.

“The gaffer has picked me regularly and I’ve been grateful to him for that.”

i bet he’s gratefull.after a good start he has become a very average player, who is not as good a prospect as our own mark little.

No cardiff knocked us out the fa cup and they are in the final?! no shame there as we won there in the league and you only drew. albion knocked the ball around nice but apart from the great effort that hit the bar you didnt look like scoring whatsoever? i think you will finish in the playoffs but quite frankly are not good enough to go up automatically? funny how terrywembleybogie is keeping quiet!

Terry.. are you there terry???? ha ha of course he is… ha ha slap a dingle..

At the start of the season i thought he was going to get player of the season he was playing that well. I think on the balance of the season he gets about a 6.8 for me, worthy of his place in the team at the start of next season!!!

I’d be grateful he could learn to pass during the summer, his distribution is awful.

  12. wolveswolves said:

Premiership potential?? Championship is about as good as he will get.

  13. U2 WOLF said:

Mark Little will be a sgood if not better than Micah Richards quote quote but not with WWFC and MM.

  14. we8wba said:

    totally agree with comment 1

he started off fantastically and we all likened his consitancy much like dennis irwins

but the final 2/3 of the season he was very average, stopped going forward, wasnt as solid defending

almost like he was in the “comfort zone”

i would like to see marky little given a run and this may actually benefit foley and give him the boot up the bum which he requires

When MM is sacked foley will not be herd of again in a wolves strip, not good enough for the championship.

  16. Fenwolf said:

Not as good as Mark Little - he lacks pace and his tackling is week. He was well and truely found out by xmas and has struggled ever since.

  17. MancWolf said:

not a patch on mark little gets a nose bleed when he crosses the half way line does foley

  18. Essex Wolf said:

wasn’t mark little playing centre back at northampton. with Jody and Breen on their way out it could be a really good time to force his way back into the set up again.

    RB - Foley
    LB - Elokobi
    CB - Little
    CB - *new signing*

Ward and Collins can have a season on loan with Stuart Gray :-D

Foley is a great player with good potential! Def see him in the prem some day hopefully with wolves!

good solid player, prefer him to collins anyday

You all seem to have some nostalgic recollections of how ‘amazing’ Mark Little is.

ML is similarly young and inexperienced as Foley.

Both are good players - as ML has been playing CB at N’ton it’s quite possible they’ll both be in the same team.

When the team plays with confidence, so will Foley. At that point they’ll all ‘look as good as they did before’.

As an outsider looking in and with no affiliation to any particular club l have to say that next season there is no place for potential if you have true ambitions of promotion.QPR will win the league after today’s announcement that they wish to qualify for the Champions League within 4 years. That leaves 2 places up for grabs.relegated teams , Derby ,Blues ,Reading or whoever will have funds for players that you can only dream of.l suggest you get real and settle for being a top half Championship team.

  23. DudzieWolf said:

Agree with 14. He got into his comfort zone cos no one could challenge for his place, Little out on loan was stupid especially for the last 3rd of the season. But then, most of Zoot’s decisions last season were stupid with one or two exceptions

    Table doesn’t lie

    Stats don’t lie

Win only once against the top 9 all season gets you where you are. We deserved what we got (not as fans) 7th place, and that was lucky considering our poor run in December n January

  24. aucklandkiwiwolf said:

Once again we need to clear out the deadwood which will leave us pretty threadbare. When will we ever learn!

Kent wolf, are you feeling better ?

Another muppet clone ,he started the season well but has faded and made two many mistakes since .Mark Little or Karl Henry would be my choice at RB

  27. jonus said:

DAVE = 21 Foley is coming 25 and Little is 19 Had a bit of time to get ‘confidence’ dont you think - So, if as you say they all look as good as they did before - Foley has played all season and hasn’t improved and Little has had a few weeks at Northampton and is still has good as Foley l know where my money will be next year.

  28. Dublin Wolves said:

Jonus, think you need to check again, November 1, 1984 was his birth date…….dont that make him just 23………….

  29. Wolves 92 said:

Kevin Foley is one of wolves better players
He is most consistant in his playing
And he could do very well in the prem, but personaly i think he can do wonders for wolves next season.he is young and has alot of poetential it would be a shame if he left our club.
