Coventry will make Freddy Eastwood their first summer signing – as Wolves admitted the striker has been disappointing.
The Sky Blues have earmarked Eastwood as their No 1 priority capture this summer along with goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy rejected the Coventry’s attempts to lure Eastwood in the loan window with a view to a £1.5m permanent deal.
But his exit seems certain as Coventry plan a fresh offer for the 24-year-old now the Championship season has ended.
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said Eastwood had ‘disappointed’ and insisted McCarthy preferred Sylvan Ebanks-Blake to Eastwood.
“Everyone is disappointed that Freddy hasn’t made the impact everyone would have hoped he’d make,” said Moxey.
“The long and short of it is you employ professional management to run your football side of your business and you’ve got to let them get on with it.
“We’ve got the League’s leading goalscorer as our centre forward in Sylvan Ebanks-Blake with 23 goals – admittedly 11 of them for Plymouth.
“But we think we’re scoring goals through him and Mick decides he should lead the attack rather than someone else.”
Eastwood ended the season with three goals in 31 League games, but only 10 of those were starts.

why not do a straight swap for kyle Mick? you managerial genius, not.
Uh-oh, Jez has lit the blue touchpaper now!… Wait for the derision to spill from the massed ranks…
utter disgrace!! with eastwood and ebanks-blake up front we’d score plenty of goals, we cant rely on blake alone, as keogh wont get you 20 odd goals a season. i hope freddy stays as mm clearly hasnt given him the chance to show us what he can do. his talent is undouted please stay freddy, we need you!!!
Eastwood was never given a chance at Molineux. If Eastwood was disappointing, then words fail me for McCarthy. So if Eastwood is leaving why is not the Muppet ????
What about Kyle, S Ward etc………..
Someone has lost the plot.
With the greatest respect to Mr Moxey I fail to see how you can make much of an impact if you sit on the substitutes bench for most of the season !!
Almost certainly this fiasco will come back to haunt us next season.
what a real shame - can we now hear the real reasons why this situation occured then everyone can finally draw a line underneath this debacle……
goto the wolves website, and click the link about the 1st team disclipinary record………
on this web page they’ve spelt freddy’s name wrong….Who’s freddy Eastward??
MM’s new signing from dublin?
Don’t know whether this is a crime because of the disgraceful way he has been treated or a blessing because atleast it will be one less issue causing a rift between fans. 1 thing I do know is that he will come back to haunt us next season!
I wouldnt even play freddy for The Mixers.
It’s the right decision. We already have the best striker in the league.
It’s the defence and centre of the park we need to look at.
R- Why all the hate for Kevin Kyle?
I suppose a minority of Wolves fans need a player on their own team that they can boo.
Why listen to opinions of Coventry fans? In my opinion Kyle did well. He was never coming to play 90 mins. He was there to do a job. He scored a great goal against Palace and set up Henry’s winner at the Valley.
He gave his all when he wore the Old Gold shirt so hats off to him.
Merlin the Muppett!!!
The decision to sell combined with you not giving him a chance last season will come back to haunt you!!!!
you have been WARNED!!!
1) He has already…
No mick it is you who has been disappointing, strangely enough there is no one coming in for you, or Breen, or Collins or any of your other “Nucleus of a good team players”
thankfully, you’re arrogance and stubborness will see you repeat the exact same mistakes next season, Fred will score for fun, and you will get the sack in December. i just hope brereton and co are around so i can laugh my freaking arse off
shame, it an insult to say hes disapointing, scoring for wales an two in the walsal tetomonial, good look freddy what ever u do
Ha ha! What are you plebs going to do now your little love child is leaving? Good riddance Eastwood, your crap! The stats prove this. Ha ha how many goals did he score? Can’t header, can’t run, Can’t dribble, average passer, average finisher, Can’t take a penalty. Keogh is much better. Fact.
He said “Mick decides he (SEB) should lead the attack rather than someone else”, well that’s fine, SEB can lead the attack but have Eastwood supporting him! Surely that makes sense??????????????????????????
Send Kyle back Mick and never mention his name again!
Let’s be fair, he was a speculative signing. Ok he scored 11 goals in a poor Southend side, but I wouldn’t say that’s anywhere near good enough to be classed as a proven striker at this level. Even SEB will have to recreate his excellent form of this season, next season, to be classed as a real proven Championship striker.
Never mind eh, I hear Sherjill MacDonald and Graeme Dorrans are available for loan next season!
I dread to think of what may happen next season if Coventry are sent to Molineux as our first home match of the season and Freddy scores a hat-trick against us !!
The Crowd’s reaction could prove to be interesting to say the least ??
Remember you sow what you reap Messrs. McCarthy and Moxey !
I do not wish to see Freddy leave but if MM is to stay he has to for his own sake. This does remind me of a certain Michael McIndoe last season he obviously had a set to with MM and knew he had to leave. Where is he now playing in the Play Offs, I bet he is laughing his nuts off. Hope the Freddy saga does not have the same bad taste in my mouth come the end of next season.
Here we go again.
Does no-one at Wolves keep the washing inside
Best of luck freddy,
hope mr coleman at least gives you a fair chance.
Now where can i get odds on freddy scoring both home and away for the sky-blues against us next season.
And whilst im on i might go for him getting a hat-trick.
Same old Eastwood lovers - same old crap.
Eastwood is talented but just cant score enough goals at this level. Despite numerous of chances he has not proved anything. He is useless and it must be the worlds largest mystery ever that so many people are blind and cant understand facts and week after week live in a fantasy world.
Guys
This story, for some inexplicable reason has appeared on the Albion pages, so if you dont mind
i`ll throw my twopennorth in.
I find it MIND BOGGLING that Moxey has come out with a statement of “the striker has been disappointing” talk about barefaced,
Moxey has consistently ENRAGED the fans let alone disappointed them.
To say Eastwood has been criminally underused is
being kind.
Knowing Moxey, when Eastwood is sold, he will be trying to make a few extra quid by selling
Freddy the bench that appears super glued to his
ar**,
“putting a shift in” for the last two minutes of a game aint easy in those circumstances.
Eastwood is quality!
When he comes on he changes the match, Keogh is not good enough and yet is prefered to Freddy.
With Fred and SEB up front we would be alot more effective. If we get rid of Eastwood, the board wants shooting along with MM.
15. Better how? Keogh could be good with time, but he backs out of challenges too easily. Eastwood is international and his passing is pin point. HE SHOULD STAY!
Thanks for the memories Freddy. I’m appalled by this inevitable decision. My money is on you to be a success at Coventry, playing for a manager who will appreciate your undoubted quality. It saddens me that what could have been the most prolific strikeforce in the country has not had chance to terrorise defenders in a Wolves shirt.
And Moxey, stop using SEB as an excuse for Freddy’s exclusion, Muppet clearly has a problem handling a big character. Muppet denied us of Freddy before his arrival!
no offence Cannock Wolf but I could play for Wales and score goals against Luxembourg or whoever it was.
Personally I’m glad he’s going too much conflict over him amongst the fans and he’s totally overrated. MM only bought him because he couldn’t get Billy Sharp.
11 Kyle did the job he was brought in to do in spite of some venomous abuse from certain “fans”. We still need a powerhouse forward so I don’t think it would be a bad thing to get him in.
The board have backed MM so now the supporters need to back him and the side. There will be new players coming in between now and August and the team will be strengthened. We have some great kids from the academy Kyle Bennett will be a star saw him score a 30 yarder in the reserves at least 3 times this season.
Out of Darkness …..
Mick had a sulk with Freddie and it has cost us a place in the play offs. If he had been on the field instead of the likes of Stephen Ward, Elliot, Bothroyd or Kyle at various times in the season then I have no doubts at all that we would have scored more goals and got more points.
Freddie will go elsewhere and acore goals and we will keep McCarthy who will take a dislike to a couple of players as he does every year and the team will suffer as a result.
Lets have another year of putting a shift in Mick. And another year of not enough goals and not enough points.
Oh and if he’s so good why is it only Coventry after him?
Agree with 27 scoring against Luxembourg is like scoring against a team with Don Goodman playing the other night.
He scored 3 goals in 10 starts!
What a great striker he is and another 21 appearances on top of that and he still couldn’t score. Nuff said.
Wolvesmod - Freddy scored against Germany as well as Luxembourg. After the Germany game he came back to Wolves and Mick dropped him. Now thats management!
On what basis can you say that S.E?If Eastwood had had the chance to partner Blake from the start the same number of games as Keogh, then you can say that.Fact is,he never got a run of games from the start.Keogh reminds me of a Michael Branch, would run all bloody day but his finshing was awful. If MM was any sort of manager,he would have done his homework on Eastwood before signing him in the first place and realised that he doesn’t run around like a headless chicken.Remember Lineker?Course i ain’t saying Eastwood is as good but you never saw Lineker run himself into the ground. The way Eastwood has been treated is a disgrace.
cant wait to see a strike force of kyle, elliot or ward! oh lets see more goals from them?
Eastwood 60 goals in 3 season, kyle, elliot and ward combined do not equal
mccarthy out and take that football genuis moxey with you!
listen to the fans we dont want you!
32. true.. true..
You lot have never got over Bully have you?..& quite right…but the single biggest problem I can see at wolves is the lack of real midfield creativity…no cohesion, no flair..I mean Dave Edwards paleeeese!!!….It’s well known that Wolves have got one of the best academies round these parts and they for some reason will not give the kids a chance..Look what Warnock’s done with the palace kids..Its not rocket science..& the notoriously fickle molineux crowd are more likely to be patient with a youngster who’s come through the ranks…
Eastwood and Ebanks Blake would not play together they are to similar.
In the first team it’s 1 or the other.
If you put Eastwood in Keogh’s place, it does not mean he would score everyone Keogh misses.
For a start I guarantee that Eastwood would not be in the position Keogh gets in.
Keogh makes runs Eastwood does not
Eastwood moves into areas Kegh does not. Dropping deep, Keogh runs past defenders stretching the game.
It’s not jus a case of swapping keogh, for Eastwood and all our probl;ems would be solved.
SEB and Blake would be going into the same areas we would be as predictable as ever in how we played.
Every team in football needs someone to run past defenders, without Keogh we would have none.
You lot need to concentrate on SEB who is a far better player than eastwood
Maybe the ideal solution to this problem has been staring us in the face all season ??
Keep Freddy at Molineux and send Mick to Manage Wales and John Toshack to manage Wolves !!
Polarises Wolves fans’ opinions like no other, does the boy from Basildon. A very talented player but not an out-and-out goalscorer like Mr Ebanks-Blake is… I agree that he has been treated somewhat harshly at this club and no doubt will go on to do well for someone else, hopefully not at our expense. However, if he goes, then I will only be extremely angry if we fail to bring in someone even better as his replacement. Something tells me that Steve Morgan will be ready to splash the ca$h this summer, so hopefully McCarthy spends it well (unlike last summer) otherwise his neck will be on the chopping block, no question.
You can just see the headlines next season
“FREDDY COMES BACK TO HAUNT MAD MICK”
And I have to say I hope so
go away boggie fans you’ll get your hammering next season, ward collins kyle breen sell them as one package we’ll get about 40k for them just,if eastwood was given a chance we just might be in the playoffs now but the muppet had other useless ideas for him, good freddy we the fans had faith in you but old long face did’nt.
what will be will be, but I do think that a SEB/Eastwood partnership could have really blossomed. Can’t understand all this vitriol for Kevin Kyle at all. The lad did ok for me, and offers something different from the bench. 2 good wingers without a good header in the forward line? Sign him I say!
By the way mick don’t think your having the money to waste again!
could somebody at the express and star organise interviews with both Eastwood and McCarthy and find out exactly what happened between the two of them. We as fans have a right to know and then we can make up our minds as to where the problem was. Without the facts we will just carry on with all this endless speculation when energy should be channeled elsewhere.
Thank you Mr Eastwood for all those match winning goals that you scored!
Hope you play as well for Coventry and help them get relegated.
i’m utterly appalled at this response, they are trying to save face for not playing him by labelling him a flop. he has never been given the chance to play along side ebanks blake! what the hell is the point in saying sylvan is to lead the attack so get rid of freddy?!?! why not play them both? we will only to have recruit others! he is basically saying elliot, bothroyd, ward and kyle have been better and had bigger impacts than eastwood. he is being made into the scapegoat and i’m disgusted with the lot of them
Mick says judge him at the end of the season. We just don’t know which season he means.
I will say one thing, judge Freddie at the end of a season when he actually plays. My guess is we’ll all be sitting here next year wishing we didn’t let him go.
wolvesmod - why aren’t you playing professional football then - oh yeah cos you ain’t good enough! you should ring MM he would put you straight into his Wolves starting x1
First of I think everyone knows he was a bad signing, be it for the price we paid for someone who hasn’t been played or the fact that it has caused such a disruption.
Freddy only scored 11 last season at Southend and before that he was playing in League One, so to say he is such a great player and some kind of messiah is somewhat exaggerated. If it was a player like Kevin Phillips, James Beattie etc. who have some kind of previous record it would be a different story.
One side of me thinks why spend 1.5m on a player then not play him but then on the other side we don’t deal with him on a daily basis.
It shows we had a good squad of players and management as we haven’t heard what the actual problem is behind to scenes. But I’m sure that once he leaves the E & S will soon try and create the story into another Real Madrid want Ronaldo.
Give MM another chance he signed SEB remember ad also Kyle was a traget man who is a loan signing and will soon be going back to coventry with Freddy wrapped up in his boot bag.
By then
“Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said Eastwood had ‘disappointed’ and insisted McCarthy preferred Sylvan Ebanks-Blake to Eastwood.”
How can you disapoint, when you never play?
Cov fan here. Yes, we’ll have him if that’s OK by you lot.
12# Ad Mant
Once again reading the positive and loyal comments from Ad Mant, he is a great example of how not to support your club.
I would you to say all this to the players and management face to face, you would shiver like a small dog outside of a VW Polo…
Oh, one more thing. Bit off to slag off a player in the press, isn’t it?
“Wolverines said:
Agree with 27 scoring against Luxembourg is like scoring against a team with Don Goodman playing the other night”
Perhaps England should have had them in thier group for the Euros ;-p
Moxey also says that “we havent shown enough patience with managers” NO MOXEY its you that hasnt had the patience, and you that appointed the muppets in the first place!!!
could it be mm didnt want him in the first place.
i seem to remember we took a long time to close the deal and moxey actually done the deal. it would explain why mm wouldnt play him.
Some marriages are made in Hell. This seems to be one of them. Jimmy Greaves was an idle sod but slip him a pass within sight of goal…There are those who say a real goal scorer never breaks sweat, the rest of the team have to accept that if he’s winning matches with goals. Good luck Fred, where ever you go. Please point out to your management you need TWO goalscorers to win the League. You’ve got one in SEB.
Good luck, Freddie. We shall never know how good you might have been because you were never given the chance. I’d like to apologise for the humiliation you have had to suffer from certain members of this club. Then again, we Wolves fans know all about humiliation and the lack of respect shown by the likes of M and M.
Thank GOD the seasons over
25- Keogh is also an international player for a much better nation than wales. Keogh is our secon highest scorer this season and the messiah (i dont think so) eastwood has scored less than neill collins. You should go and support eastwood town who are in the non-league which is where FE could end up in. Super Mick McCarthy
33- remind me how Keoghs finishing is rubbish. Is that 11 goals he has scored this season?
This is one of the reasons for not having a season ticket next season i would have rather seen freddy upfront than keogh i know that keogh tracks back like mick wants but its not going to score you goals as we all know thats what mick does’nt like about freddy you didnt see BULLY track back and defend and i think that when freddy came on he changed the game on sunday, The trouble with mick is you;ve either got to be irish or ex sunderland to play in our team and they were’nt much good there either. For the club i love changes need to be made maick and moxey need to be sack and the sooner the better.
if he played eastwood and not keogh we would of got the goals that where needed, no time at all for keogh just freezes in front of goal.
26-What memories? He has scored 3 goals this season. Cant you give applause to someone who has scored goals this season like Andy Keogh. And was it last season that everyone was chanting for Super Mick and Keogh
Perhaps now we can get Bothroyd back and have him on the bench as the impact sub who can offer something different as he is a far better player than the one trick pony Eastwood.
Kyle a powerhouse, he spent most of the games I saw ( home & away) on his backside complaining. Maybe Coventry should turn back to him.
65
Spot on !!!
Even one of our friends from West Bromwich can see the stupidity of the love for Freddaaaay.
It is embarrasing, SEB 12 goals (23 overall) Keogh 11 goals, Elliott 4 goals & Sir Freddaaaay 3 goals.
Thats the math yet you still love him ?
Rival fans are laughing at you !!!
The club urgently needs a communications manager. Some of the rubbish being released to the media does the club no credit at all. Communcations should be of fact not rumour or idle opinions. It only serves to fuel the fans fire.
I have to say I think that this is a strange move.I always rated Eastwood and thought that he hasnt really been given a chance.Sometimes strikers need to “bed in” to a team.
As for cov coming in for him, not many people came in for eanshaw…and Robson hardly ever gve him a game but his goals to games ratio was great.interesting that he has only been pretty much a sub since too.You have to wonder what they are doing off the pitch.I cant see how selling him would be beneficial for you guys.He is a goalscorer and as we have seen this season we all need strength in depth..
Frankly I’m glad to see the back of the guy. I only wish some of his lovechild fans would go with him.
its a shame that eastwood is going..he,ll come back and haunt us,they always do….iwan roberts, dougie freedman and robbie keane, the list goes on does,nt it….never mind though we,ll have kyle and elliott and maybe the super stephen ward firing 4 next season…….yeh right..more chance of juggling soot…..mick is a joke, along with moxey….bet jez loved the stoke goig up ehey lads?…..time 4 changes at our beloved club but dont hold your breath….the muppet will be still here and god help us….cos its us….the fans who always suffer…..and after that shower served up last season….there,s more to come with that clown at the helm….ALL THE BEST FREDDY
What idiocy. Ebanks-Blake is a lead striker, Eastwood has always played in a deep role, an ideal combination you would have thought. It is Keogh who has kept Eastwood out as they play in a similar role. For me Eastwood is the better player and this is one of the key reasons McCarthy has failed this year. Now watch Coventry get promoted above us next year.
Why sell? We aren’t desperate for the money, send him on loan the world could look a lot different in 1 year. He would still have a year on his contract and if he succeeds would be worth far more. Could be a new manager in a years time who would give him a chance. Its no gamble, he will succeed at Coventry. Better still, keep him and rotate him with Keogh or Blake, we need genuine cover.
36 Sherpavan you’re right mate. We were behind the team 06/07 because a lot of our promising academy players were in the team giving it their all. We knew they were playing with pride and passion and were giving their all. They’ve got skill, vision and a passion for the club and that’s why we cut them slack and got behind them. Unfortunately muppet ignored them this season and bought in inferior replacements lacking the pride, passion, determination and sometimes skill. If he’d stuck with the first seasons plan and just added 2 central defenders and a playmaker with the better signings we’ve made this season (not many)the fans would still be excitied seeing a talented homegrown team taking shape rather than a bunch of misfits and underachievers bar a few exceptions
Yeah we’re sending you to Coventry Fred. Get over it!
PREFERS SEB TO FREDDY..HMMM FREDDY WAS HERE AT THE START OF THE SEASON..BLAKE DIDN’T COME TILL JANUARY..WHATS THAT ALL ABOUT!
TELL YOU WHAT MUPPET..YOU WANT TO HOPE BLAKE CARRIES ON THE SAME NEXT SEASON AS HE DID THIS ONE..OR ELSE WE WON’T BE ABLE TO SCORE AGAIN!!!
ME I FEEL BLAKE COULD BE A ONE SEASON WONDER..DON’T BE SUPRISED IF HE BECOMES ANOTHER KEOGH..OH JOY!!!
Dont go fred, send Kyle back, hes rubbish!
if he is going to go make sure you try and do a deal for Misford least we will get some quality in
First things first, I am a Freddie Eastwood fan and believe the job he could do for us alongside SEB would be the best outside ( and better than most in ) the premier league.
However, to all the disgruntled Wolves fans. What would you be saying this time next year if we go and take this league by storm and emulate the likes of Reading and Sunderland ( who incidently was managed by MM ). Would MM still be a ”Muppet” or would he be the messiah once again? I know you will all scoff and say that could never happen, but what if? theres a lot to be said for stability.
I’ve never been a passionate supporter of Freddy, unlike some of the others who have been on here. But to label him a disappointment on the basis of the few starts he has had seems unfair by any standards. There are others I have watched on a more regular basis who have regularly disappointed me - and I can’t see them improving in the future either.
How can Mr Moxey say that Freddie has been disappointing. In order to disappoint he has to play more than the odd 15 minutes or so McCarthy has allowed him on to the pitch. I personally am very uncomfortable with managers who bear grudges(the Gary Breen incident comes immediately to mind). Obviously something has gone on behind the scenes. Had Freddie been allowed a game on Sunday we might have got the three goals we needed.
Without a doubt we will live to regret letting Freddie go and to top it all you can bet we will loose a striker to injury without an adequate replacement.
GOOD LUCK FREDDIE - HOPE YOU GET YOUR CHANCE AT COVENTRY
If Eastwood has been disapointing what about S Ward (striker) 23 appearences no goals,Neil Collins gave away penalty after penalty,Stephen Elliot cant hold the ball up,Darren Ward mistake after mistake need I go on and whos going to partner SEB if he is still here Andy Keogh who has squandered chance after chance.Strikers who can score 20 goals a season are like goldust and we are about to sell Eastwood big mistake.I have a feeling this will be back to haunt us when we play Coventry mark my words.
Mick made Freddy one of his most expensive signings and then didn’t use him. Disgrace.
Yes SEB has been a great success, but two quality strikers are needed in this division and we have no others.
The man has no idea what he is doing and now Moxey is just trying to get rid of Freddy because he thinks the whole issue is the reason many fans are not pro Mad Mick, which is untrue as we know he is a one can short of a four pack.
I’ve had enough of this Mick and Moxey double act. One season ticket definitely not being renewed.
sadly we have chief executives who know nothing about the game so cannot question this embarassment. Eastwood came on as the link man and showed some lovely touches and laying on the goal. It’s an absolute farce that Andy Keogh could be preferred to Eastwood. McCarthy’s approach to the game is from the dark ages..
moxey and mm and morgan be very carefull this could end up bitting you on the a###s . the man as never been given a fair chance . with him and blake upfront we got to be lookin at 40+ goals . the man can score goals have faith . got more faith in freddy than mick mc
Why did they buy him, was he watched before a bid was made ? Was he the cheaper option to Billy Sharpe ? Was he signed without MMs knowledge ? Its 1.5 million, thats a good fee for a 2nd division player, perhaps he has got a poor attitude who knows ? Its been one of the worst PR disasters of Wolves recent history.
50. Kent Wolf, are you feeling better ?
69. Wolfski, Good post spot on.
Freddy is going to come back and haunt you mark my words, a wonderful striker ruined by a tactically inept manager.
You got what you deserved this season absolutely nothing, and next season will be the same with mm in charge
If we get rid of Eastwood, what are we losing? A player who scored 11 goals in a season for Southend… that must have premiership defenders trembling in their boots. We’ve a number of players who occasionally look good, Eastwood, Gray, Collins (scrap that one, he never looks good), Craddock, Olofinjana, Foley, Keogh, but there are too many of these players. We need consistency week in week out. The only players last season who gave us this were Hennessey, Henry (don’t understand how anybody can have a bad word to say about him) and Ebanks-Blake. I hope Jarvis and Kightly can be added to that list if they stay injury free. These inconsistent players should at best be squad players and if like Eastwood, they don’t like it, then as Morgan said about the boo boys, they can S*D off.
Breen as not been given a mention as I hope his Molineux career is over. Can’t fault him for effort, but he needs to be realistic about what he can offer. As I’ve said before on these pages, lets see what the product of our youth team can achieve, in a number of cases they can be no worse!
24.yeah…Eastwood is quality mate..?…..if thats what you call quality you’ll never get outta the fizzy pop league !!!!…not related to Mick are ya..?…
Goodbye Freddy, don’t let the door smack you on the back of your stroppy, whinging, petulant backside on your way out.
In terms of goals per game Freddie scored 4 in 12 or 1 goal every 3 games a slightly better rate than both Keough and Elliot (11 in 38 and 5 in 19 )but nowhere near the goal per game that Denes Rosa managed, pity MM never gave him a start.
Madness. Surely the best way to do business is to put your players in the shop window. Instead, come out and slag them off in the press. Surely this does not bode well for getting a good deal. I have said this before on other pages but I was with 2 Wolves players at the awads dinner last week and they told me that Eastwood simply does not work hard enough in training. What kind of message would it send out to other players if MM put him in the team when he does not put the effort in. Ok, so he may have ability but we jumped on the back of Boothroyd when he failed to put a shift in. If he hd been given a run of starts and failed to impress, we would be screaming from the stands to get him off. MM is simply preventing this from happening. He knows he is not motivited enough to work his socks off consistently.
#53 - if only we had the chance it is they who hide when we go down to compton not us!! U mug
know1s sayin he’s better then SEB most people are sayin he’s better then keogh! but its freddies fault for bein welsh! damn him!!
It only stands to reason that someone doesn’t score goals when half of his appearences are from the 80th minute, he’s a forward not God, how is he supposed to make any impace at such a late stage in the game. Moxey and Mick are complete jokes, Freddy and Ebanks-Blake not Freddy OR Ebanks-Blake. Speaking of disappointments what about Kyle, Elliott, Collins, S. Ward, David Edwards, Gibson, Potter the list go’s on…
Rarely have I seen such absolute garbage from fans about their club and the employment of an over rated player. Show some respect to the professionals please!
eg He’ll score a hattrick against us. Question. How many hattricks has he scored in the Championship and in how many game shas he played? Some points that you won’t answer are,
1. Exaggerated statements about a proven goalscorer. Season 2007-8 was 3 Championship goals in 10 starts plus 21 sub appearances.
Season 2006-7 was 11 Championship goals (3 pens) in about 40 games. Season 2005-6 was about 23 League One goals in about 40 games. NOT A PROVEN GOALSCORER AT THIS LEVEL. FAR WORSE RECORD THAN KEOGH!
2. He will score goals. SHEER DESPERATION.
3. Partner him with SEB. What do you think Moxey was referring to in the text? Professionals make the decisions, they are at the training ground and they know what combinations work and do not! GO TO EBBSFLEET IF YOU THINK THE FANS KNOW MORE THAN THE PROFESSIONALS!
4. If he was so good where were all the moneybags Prem clubs and the other Championship clubs when he was available?
I THINK THAT ALL THOSE FOOTBALL PROFESSIONALS KNOW MORE THAN YOU LOT ABOUT WHAT MAKES A TOP PRO!
Now Freddy lovers shut up or s*d off as the main man said. We don’t want you or the idiot E and S blogger. What makes you so knowledgeable. You are just ignorant big-mouthed s*** stirrers.
Number 15 must have been gone to loads of games this season . . . . COUGH!
Eastwood hasn’t had a chance Superstubborn yorkie bar decided that he would get 10 miunutes every fortnight to prove himself. Ronaldo wouldn’t manage goals with so little foootball so how come FReddy has to.
Sulky Mick playing at big daddy sitting Fredy on the punishment step.
Moxey says: “Everyone is disappointed that Freddy hasn’t made the impact everyone would have hoped he’d make,”
Everyone agrees with that…but its not the same as saying Freddy is disappointing.
Moxey also said: “The long and short of it is you employ professional management to run your football side of your business and you’ve got to let them get on with it.”
So how else can that be interpreted other than MOXEY DOESN’T AGREE with Mick’s handling of Freddy, & is distancing himself from an obvious blunder.
Maybe there’s still hope of McCarthy’s exit yet.
Simon
I can’t beleive you’re selling him! It’s pretty obvious why he’s going. Clubs always look for a scapegoat after failure and it appears that Eastwood is that person.
In my opinion MM didn’t like the guy and didn’t give him a chance, cos if he had and he scored 35 goals this year, he would have had egg on his face.
Letting Freddy go is one of the stoopidest decisions the club has ever made. Keeping McCarthy will be the next most stupid.
Freddy will definately come back to haunt us, & there will be one or two ‘told you so’s.
Mayb eastwod has been disappointing because carthy jhad a go at hi m and from then on he hasn’t had the confidnce or the chance. Get MM out!!!!!
Moxey the Man–What does he know ?. Come on did he really say that, of course he did–The mans a loss——MM failed to appreciate how to use players–Who made the goal on Sunday after coming on again late in the came-Can he hold the ball Yes- Pass the ball with accuracy-Shoot at goal and score–Looks an athlete-Well I think so BUT that not what mad Mick wants——————-Carry on Moxey what other words of wisdom will you spout to cover your back–Good luck Mr Freddy do come back to haugnt us————–Beggars Belief.
Too much negativity and no constructivity.
Agree Freddy has a good touch on him and can find a player or two with his vision, but he aint th eonly one and if he was as good as some say he is he should have been able to score more.
However all our strikers would score more if we had that guy in midfield that had a little creativity.
Kyle did what was asked of him and I am glad he did.
As for all th erest NO info wil be forthcoming as to who what and when we are going to sign someone til it happens, so no use speculating.
Chill out have a few months off and bring on the future of Wolves .
to do any good next season we will need atleast 2 decent central defenders. get rid of breen, craddock and that donkey collins.stick with youth and get rid of the old timers who are only looking for a decent payed contract before they end up playing in the blue square premier.stick with mm and next year will be our season.
Pathetic. He scored at the start when they played him and he has been scoring for Wales all season. He plays, he scores- lets see how many he puts past us next season if he ends up at Coventry
Breen must not have much to occupy his time. He must have the E&S on speed dial for every time he ponders the season.
It was only a matter of time until the injury excuses were rolled out. Every club deals with injuries. Whats the point saying we would have gone up without the injuries. Does that mean if we get injuries at the start of next season we simply assume yet another season will result in failure?
“08/09champions said:
33- remind me how Keoghs finishing is rubbish. Is that 11 goals he has scored this season?”
I hope you’re joking.
Ebanks-Blake has scored more than that for us and he’s only been here since January!
Have you ever seen one of Keogh’s sensational one-on-ones with the keeper? Y’know, the one where he kicks it at snail pace into the keepers hands.
You’re telling me that’s good finishing?
FE coming back to haunt us next season if he leaves? Don’t make me laugh. A couple more seasons he’ll be back with Southend in the First Division where he belongs.
Heard this before, sounds like coventry will be guaranteed 6 points off us nxt season!
Complete rubbish if or when eastwood goes we are left with onli really two quality strikers and what happens when one of them falls to the molineux injury curse.
If hes good enough for wales hes good enough for us surely…..
Lets face it Eastwood isnt a MM player and he bought him in a panic when he lost billy sharp to SU
Why oh why is it all about Eastwood in the starting 11? He has proven that he can make a difference to a game coming on when needed, and we should keep him as cover for SEB, who is the real deal. As long as FE can cope with that, then all is well. If not, then good luck. At the end of the day, it is the service from midfield that has let us down over the season.
Well it looks like I’ll have to change my name now ! Sylvan’s Right Shoe ???
Good riddens Eastwood, the only effect you’ve had on this team is a divide between the fans. 31 appearences and only 3 goals… he hasn’t been given a chance? Give me a break. Kyle has scored more from the bench than him and has a much better attitude. Your not a player for this club… hope coventry get alot better attitude and professionalism for their money!
Behind you all the way Mick!!
Get over Eastwood Wolves fans. Blake is a much better player dispite being fat(according to our own fans)!!!! Bully will never be replaced so support your team instead of dripping all the time.
15…. you am the biggest ****** ever. what you know about football i could rite on a postage stamp. keogh is diobolical he is awful. as far as im concerned seb freddy and kights are our bst players. FREDDY FREDDY
I bet he comes back and haunts you. He will bag up at Molineux next season you watch.
Well I don’t know.
Fred has the crowd but not the team. He has played so many games when he has been ignored by the players in Old Gold.
Would like to know why he was dropped when he was scoring goals for us and Wales, rested I think the comment went.
If Fred goes to the pale blues I amongst many will cheer his goals even against us next season.
Super Mick. Why did you sign him???????
Moxey and MM, I have a proposition for you.
I bet Freddy scores a minimum of 12 goals if he plays at least 38 games from the start.
As an incentive i will donate £50 to the charity of you choice.
Are you up for it?
fact: eastwood is lazy in training
fact: the players dont like him
fact: let him be a big fish in a small pond
No 11 - well said.
No 62 - the thing is, it’s 11 goals from 185 chances
Moxey’s comment is disgraceful. The only disappointment is the way Eastwood has been treated. We’ll never know what he might have done if he’d been allowed to continue the run of starts he had earlier in the season, instead of being “rested” when he was on form. If his shot against Hull hadn’t hit the post but had gone in we’d be hailing it as goal of the season.
lets all have a nice break away from the stress of being a suffering wolves fan this summer.
“The long and short of it is you employ professional management to run your football side of your business and you’ve got to let them get on with it.”…. In that case Moxey, shut up, go back to your bean counting and leave the football side to be run by much more qualified people than you!
AS A BAGGIE FAN I HAVE TO SAY MICK NEVER GAVE EASTWOOD A FAIR SHAKE.
Get the saga over with and stick with SEB & Keogh!
No 69
Well said!!!
Sick of hearing about Freddie, good riddance. Lets hope we sign good centre backs and a creative midfielder. Lousy season all round and best Freddie is not here in August. Just so hard to see where we are going.
How can the man who scores 20 odd goals for a relegated side the previous season, seems to score on every outing at International level have possibly been a dissapointing signing when he’s quite obviously just not fitted ‘Mick the Muppet’s’ specification for a Wolves player (Irish and ex. Sunderland…or past it as in Breen). I suppose that Ward, Elliot, Keogh (Runs his legs off but don’t score or create), Kyle have all been revelations……have they?? I Don’t think so! We’re going nowhere with the current set up and it’s time for a change, If we do by some strange quirk of fate get promoted next season with McCarthy in charge we’ll be in the top flight in the hands of the official ’second worst premierleague manager of all time’ Can you really see that working.
I wish Freddy all the best and apologise for the shocking way he’s been treated at Wolves, and as said earlier…you can bet he’ll be back to haunt us!!!! It’s time to really plan for the future and say goodbye to McCarthy and Clipboard Connor before it’s too late!!!
Once again we have people who obviously don’t watch the wolves making comments about players.
Eastwood was never given a chance and like others have said playing with EB would have produced goals. So Keogh scored 11 goals and missed probably 20 plus but he was in the team every week. Elliott scored 4 and missed numerous.
Its a fact Moxley and MM have conspired to try and belittle Eastwood to justify the sale,
Mr Morgan please get rid of them and the rubbish MM will keep.(WARD COLLINS BREEN ELLIOTT POTTER GIBSON OLI).
Keogh, Elliot, Kyle, Bothroyd, Ward, would struggle to score against Luxembourg if games were 90 days long, let alone 90 minutes, just like Mick it seems that a good number of our fans are becoming accustomed to appreciating the mediocre. It works to have two strikers who know where the goal is. He was hopeless in the prem. but the season before this Steve Howard practically got Derby promoted by himself, then he joined the managerial merry-go round Leicester…..could pick him up for a song but I’m afraid it won’t fit in with Micks 8 - 2- 1 Formation. Defend, Defend, Defend!!
You don’t win Championships like that, Look at that lot from Smethwick!!! Clueless I’m afraid.
Destined for a few more seasons rattling round in a 40,000 seater stadium…let’s get there first ehhh! it’s not as easy as Mr Morgan thinks.
22. None of our strikers (SEB Excepted) can score more than 4 goals in a season……Is that enough?
Surely if nothing else Eastwood is the ’second’ best of a very, very bad bunch! Never mind Sunderland will probably be having a clearout in the closed season bet Old Mick’s been on the phone already, thought the new kit might have been Red/White stripes….or maybe Green.
good luck Freddy. must have been one frustrating season for you, i have a feeling you will do great at coventry and prove mick wrong.
MICK - LOSE ELLIOT, WARD, KYLE, COLLINS, GIBSON. Pretty much everyone on these boards is saying it. what is it you can see that we can’t? Elliot and Ward selections have particularly stunk of favouritism this season.
Why is Moxey dissapointed with Freddie? He MUST be listening to Zoot to have come out with that, is he not dissapoijnted with Zoot’s managerial performance for the season. Lets face it, when Freddie started he scored 4 in 6 games. By contrast Zoots record is to win just one game against any of the top 9 in the division for the whole season. Who is the biggest dissapointment here then, Morgan take note. I know who I’d get rid off if I were in your shoes mate, and I’d certainly not wanna be in Zoot’s shoes when Freddie scores a hatrick against us next season
37 - spot on mate.
The Eastwood love-in is painful to watch.
He wasn’t a bad player, he showed glimpses that he could open up a defence and the few goals that he did score were well taken. That said, he could have scored more goals, he’s apparently done some pretty stupid things off the field, and without him we are left with a very able strikeforce at this level. The key now is to focus on what remains. SEB has been the breath of fresh air that we all hoped Eastwood would be. He leads the line well, he links up play well and he simply knows where the back of the net is. I think SEB’s arrival saw an improvement in Keogh’s goalscoring and that bodes well for next season. I’d also personally like to see a pairing of SEB and Stephen Elliott as Elliott is a bit more direct than Keogh and just as mobile. I think that Kyle’s been a good option in certain games although admittedly it is frustrating seeing a lad of his size hit the deck so frequently. Not quite sure about what will happen with Bothroyd, one of football’s most frustrating players. He seems destined to never fulfill his potential. And how about a return to a centre-forward spot for Mr Stephen Ward. So often disrespected on this site despite the fact that whenever he’s played in his favoured position; at centre forward he performed well. He was player of the month in his first month with us let’s not forget.
absolutely rediculous. the quicker mick and jez are out the club the better!
mick never liked eastwood and has not given him a chance, and then he gets called dissapointing. this club was going somewhere the end of last season, now we are going backwards. Eastwood is a class player, who when given the chance at plymouth completely changed the game and set up the goal. Was mick and jez watching the same game?
Moxey and McCarthey out!!!!!!
Eastwood, we beg u to stay
and keogh, complete waste of space, if freddy played the amount of games he has, SEB would have had another contender for golden boot
What’s the betting we sell Eastwood for a paltry sum, then Blake gets crocked in a pre-season friendly ? Eastwood comes back with Coventry and gets teh winner and we are told Blake will be out for 6 weeks…til Xmas…til Easter…for the paly offs.Only at Wolves…Only at Wolves
look Eastwood was never good enough at this level. One fluke against Man Utd and he is all over the news. Should never have bought him.
Fact 1) Freddy has not been given a chance to prove himself. He deserves to go somewhere he can.
Fact 2) He never will be given a chance with MM in charge, so he might as well go and we can use the money elsewhere.
Fact 3)It will be a delight to not have the bickering between wolves fans if he goes.
Fact 4) If he does score against us so what- it won’t matter a bit if SEB and co are scoring more.
Fact 6) What we need is wingers and midfield genius’s who can supply the forwards - if we get that we will score a hatful more than this year.
Fact 5) We have to keep everyone else - and buy some midfielders and get a faster centre back line.
Fact 7) You moaners all love the agony and suffering of being a wolves fan (like me) who has the shadow of the 50’s still over us - live the moment, enjoy all of the seasons - it’s still (to us) the greatest club in the world and with SM here we may yet be great again in our lifetimes.
Wolves - Love ‘em!
I’m not bothered he’s going - I’ve never known what all the fuss was about.
If he was a genuine talent he would have been playing and scoring. He would have been coming off the bench and having a significant impact.
He has moaned consistently about not playing and their have always been rumours of him being disruptive and moody behind the scenes.
We need a grafter up front with SEB, someone who probably won’t score as many as SEB but will work as a foil and earn his money in assists.
Likening Eastwood to Lineker and Greaves????? Surely he is at least a Pele!! The difference between Eastwood and both of the aforementioned Englishmen is that they were always in the box when they were not “putting in a shift.” You could always rely on them being on the end of anything that came in. Esatwood prefers hanging about on the halfway line with hands on hips. He cannot get the ball there, beat half a dozen midfielders and defenders, and then hit the ball in from twenty yards. He could do that at the next league down, but CCC players are better at stopping that style of player.
Ad Mant, I am still around, and, mark my words, despite you lot thinking he is a world class striker, Eastwood will never score 20+ goals in the Championship or higher. (He only scored in two matches for Wales, by the way, so where the comment came from about him scoring all season long for them came from, I don’t know. Another of the Urban Myths that seem to have come about with this average Championship player.) He was always third choice striker at Wolves for me once SEB came in. He did have plenty of chance to prove himself. He had ten starts and at least another thirteen where he had a half-hour or more. In addition, he had a few starts for the reserves, and didn’t get on the scoresheet with them. Sorry, but give me SEB and Keogh any day. I would agree that he is better than Ward. He is a different striker from Kyle, so their roles can’t be compared. (Both impact players from the bench, but one as a battering ram and the other to try and open up defences.) Elliott, for me is on a par with Eastwood. We didn’t get to see Elliott at his best, as he had a lot of breaks because of injury, and also played on the wing in other games.
3 goals in 10 starts, I think Keogh’s ‘terrible’ goal scoring average works out about the same, and he offers alot more to the game. Oh don’t forget he was playing when we also had Kightly in the team early doors
I think bothroyd and seb could be interesting? i dont want freddie to go but if micks not he is! we need another goalscorer aswell as seb and 2 centr halfs with pace. im playing at the mol a week today and i cant wait!
what is it with all these eastwood lovers?
an eastwood and SEB partnership would just not work as they want to be the main striker and that aint gonna happen. also even tho freddy hasnt started many games, when he has come on he hasnt really looked interested or made an impact.
i think us getting rid of freddy (hopefully!) will be a blessing in disguise as it will unite the club again.
freddy was only 2nd choice last season as we didnt get billy sharp. SEB is much better than freddy, quick strong powerful and scores goals for fun. i knowed id rather have SEB anyday.
Freddy to go ASAP.
Wolves for promotion next season.
Having just read SEB’s article on the wolves website I don’t see what you lot are moaning about. If you wish to stay bitter and twisted that’t your problem. Personally, I believe we have an exciting future ahead of us.
Stand firm Wolves, don’t let the buggers drag you down.
I watched Freddy play for Southend in a play-off final in Cardiff. Nobody outside Southend had heard of him, but he was head and shoulders above anyone else on the pitch and scored the goals that won the game. I remember thinking, ” God, I wish Wolves had him!”
I was over the moon when we signed him and cannot believe how it’s gone. It would appear he has an attitude problem, but shouldn’t the management sort that? I really hope he stays, because he has much to offer - given the chance.
Hope he gets 12 for Coventry by Christmas.Maybe then Morgan will realize that Mc Carthy is expendable!!
regardless of which side of the fence you’re on with this one, both arguments hold water :
1) He just wasn’t given a run in a team that didn’t go up because they didn’t score enough goals. He may not have done that well for all we know, but I can understand fans being upset when there’s an option not being explored.
2) His record up until Wolves was a little suspect, so I can understand this point.
More importantly, If he does go, I will not miss these debates !
In the season southend went down he bagged 16…or more goals, if we sell him and a beter manager has a more flexible system of play to accommodate players like Eastwood, he’ll start scoring goals, some of them will be against us…Freddy will score but he needs to play as part of a flexible dynamic attacking team alongside SEB plus Philips, IMO. Ditch…barn door at 3 paces Keogh. Individual hard work doesn’t earn a team promotion, strikers goals to and Eastwood is clinical, he just needs a better manager…
They say no one player is bigger than the club… but reading all the “hope he scores against us” posts, FE is obviously bigger than wolves. Why else would you put him before your own results ?
You need to get a grip guys - he is a decent championship striker - no more / no less.
Shall we has BLOGGERS now put the Freddie issue to rest-Let us now pray when we lift our glasses that the TEAM cam move onto better things–No Moxey would be a good start–Signing of class players-A managers who knows what he is doing-Hold it guys and dolls I was having one of my lucide times–But this pint of Bank’s does at least have QUALITY–Good Bye for the Summer off to the beach in Spain and not in my WOLVES SHIRT.
may be if eastwood did what he is asked to do and had right attitude he may of scored a few more goals but he has had his chance over and over again . ok mick we dont mind wrighting this headless chicken signing off cos ebanks blake is ten times the player and striker and for once let the manager have a proper 3 years to build something solid come on you wolves a true supporter .
If we are going to have to sign new players, thats not saying a lot about a manager who has spent £7m and achieved NOTHING so far!!
I say let him go.lets see him go along with Jay maybe give one of our young strikers ago!
Beware of disgruntled ex strikers we have a long list of them who always come back to haunt us, Earnshaw, Peschisolido etc etc. If he does go mad mick should try and sell him where he can do least damage. If he goes to Coventry you can bet he will score a hat trick in the last game of the season at the mol to stopyou getting automatic promotion. It`s called sods law. Best of luck for next season and we can hopefully renew our rivalry in the greed league.
A few Players up for grabs:
Newcastle -
Ramage
Troisi
Carr
Free -
Huckerby
Bonaventure Kalou
Players we should move for -
Christophe Berra
Adam Johnson
Albert Adomah
We need to be the big spenders in the league next season if we want to get anywhere. We also need to keep our good players, i.e. SEB, Hennessey, Kites, Freddy.
i dont get why so many fans are saying
1. freddy doesnt make a difference when he on the pitch?
if you check the facts wolves have scored most games when freddys come on in the 2nd half of the season!
2. people saying dont know why people love him so much?
we just want him to have 10games straight, if he doesnt perform than yes we can sell him. but throwing him on for 10mins here and there is ridicolous
3. he hasnt been given a chance are you kidding?
no as kevin kyle started more games since jan than freddy
4. some one stated 3 goals in 10 games works out the same as freddys for keogh?
if so many people love andy keogh then why cant we like eastwood? keogh is a good player at championship level! if we want to push on for auto we cant do it with keogh in our 1st 11
like i said hes got zero ambition otherwise why coventry, speaks volumes.
I’m left cross by the way that Freddy has been treated.
We were told to judge McCarthy at the end of the season, and we have. The overwhelming verdict is “Guilty as charged”.
Now we are told that McCarthy has Moxey’s total confidence and a striker vital to next years campaign is going to be sold cheaply to a local rival team.
Will I wake up shortly and find it was all a bad nightmare?
Doesnt matter we have got Stephen “THE BEST SIGNING” Ward. Watch him score a hatful next season!!……”NOT!”
im a bit surprised as to how they can say freddys been disappointing - he hasnt been given a chance to do anythin & on the few times he has hes shown great promise. now im a fan of mccarthy & i dont believe he should be sacked this season but i do disagree with him on this 1 very strongly!!!!!
I love the wolves but would love coventry first game - eastwood hatrick!!
maybe then we can see the back of moxey and mccarthy!!
All we need then is someone who picks a team on quality not effort!!
blah blah blah… CHAMPIONS…. CHAMPIONS…. CHAMPIONS
You must be all dreamers if you’re expecting Freddy to stay.
163
You only fill your stadium when its 10 quid in…kids go free, so less of the little.
I am already looking forward to watching Ronaldo knock 6 past your hapless back 4.
It’s as plain as the nose on your face that he has to go if MM stays. We had the same thing with Megson falling out with some players. If Freddie aint playing as MM wants then something has to give. It’s nailed on that he will come back and haunt you next season. It always seems to happen like that.
37 glasgowwolf - completely disagree with you. SEB plays on the last line of defence, Eastwood comes from deep. It would have worked well and maybe we would have not been one of the lowest scoring teams in the division if we had given it a go. To leave Eastwood out and give preference during the season to the likes of Bothroyd, Stephen Ward, Elliot and Kyle is the main reason we didn’t finish top six.
Wolves were scared to let Freddy go on loan last season in case he scored goals and made us look like fools. Next year every Wolves fan will be watching what he does very closely and I hope we aren’t left to reflect more on what might have been.
utter rubbish!!! Everytime eastwood came on the pitch we looked dangerous, why not play him attacking mid? He obviously had more vision and passing ability then anyone else bar george. Not to slate mick but he lets personal differences affect the team, its questionable that this is the reason we did not make the play offs????
Come on lads take the medicine we get freddy you keep mm after all he managed to send roy keane home from the world cup finals “awesome” bill moore
Well we are left with the rubbish, ELLIOTT WARD X 2 POTTER COLLINS OLI KEOGH KYLE and he sells the one person who will score goals EASTWOOD Our loss will be someone elses gain MM and MOXLEY should go, Mr MORGAN you are the captain of the ship so jettison the rubbish.
just thought id look at the wolves papers and came across the Eastwood saga, lol….
All players normally come back to haunt ya, but as some of you have stated yeh send him to COV(please) we’ll have him exactly like we had Robbie Keane off you’s, lol
what professional management?
I feel as though that other M.M. muppet…..
Mark Mcghee has returned with a vengeance!
Is this decision in the best interest of the club?
or is it in the best interest of the manager?
Go Now, jez and mick!
