Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey has vowed to improve the squad with several signings for next season.
Moxey has also repeated the club’s vow that none of the exciting young nucleus of the team will be sold this summer.
Wolves head for the beaches having missed out on the play-offs by a single goal.
Several players – including central defenders Gary Breen and Jody Craddock – are out of contract this summer and the club have already been linked with a previous target, freed Newcastle stopper Peter Ramage.
“There will be changes,” said Moxey. “We will lose some players and we’ll be bringing in some players.
“Those discussions have already taken place and are ongoing and will continue.
“There’s no question this team will be strengthened and I can see a number of new players coming in to strengthen the nucleus of young, talented players we’ve got already.”
Wayne Hennessey, Michael Kightly and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake have been regularly watched by Premier League clubs.
Hennessey has been assessed by Villa and Everton – who have also been linked with Ebanks-Blake – while Kightly, who has been eyed by Blackburn, was yesterday linked with a £3.5m move to West Ham.
But the highly-rated trio are expected to remain at Molineux for at least another season.
And while Moxey admits selling players is sometimes necessary – such as the £5m sale of Joloen Lescott – he says the time isn’t right.
“One or two players have gone in the past either by them insisting to move on or us deciding to cash in on them,” he said.
“A successful team is one that operates its transfer activity smartly and sometimes that means selling players. We’re not going to achieve what we want by losing those players.
“So, absolutely, they will be here next season. I don’t think it’s going to be difficult to keep our players at all.
“Steve Morgan has already spoken about his desire to keep the nucleus of this team because we’re trying to build something very special.”

First new signing should be a new manager and a decent first team coach!!
Keep the trio then build for next season!
I cant bear to read any more garbage from him. Mr Spin Doctor!
I firmly believe that SEB/Kites and Hennessey will still be here for one more season.
If any of these player were to be sold, there would be an extreme back lash from fans after Morgans recent comment about keeping them.
Alert Adomah is a must. His manager at Barnet, Paul Fairclough, is married into a Wolves supporting family and is understood to rate this kid massively. He says he’s Premiership quality despite the fact that before signing for them in January he was a painter and decorator in Harrow playing non-league for Harrow fc. At only twenty, he’s apparently a great prospect, a free-scoring right winger/pacey striker. Whatever the criticisms of Mick, his scouting network is doing its job!
Apparently as the picture above was being taken of Mr Moxey, he had just noticed John Hartson approaching the buffet, the fight that ensued was to graphic and upsetting to publish!!!
i will believe it when i see it and good priced not cut priced players come in.
Whats the reason in buying good players when the manager wouldnt play them, lest they put in a good shift?
There’s nothing wrong with the first team squad that another 6 new players wouldn’t cure!!!
MM - Please bring in players with potential and will improve the squad - NOT the likes of D Ward, S.WArd, S Elliott, Kyle, Potter & Gibson!!!!
You who speak with forked tongue have condoaned McCarthys disgracefull arrogant ignorance towards the Fans by keeping McCarthy just remember we the fans are the club ignore us at your peril
I think it’s positive that Jez is reiterating the point about keeping our best talent. We’ve got at least another season in the Championship,so how about stopping the cynicism.Sorry, how ridiculous of me to suggest such a thing.
Should consider -
Huckerby (free) 32 yes can still do it though & better than Elliot/Ward
Ramage (free) Young and better then what we have
Loaning Scott Sinclair/Steve Sidwell or at least players of the calibre
Adomah sounds an interesting punt
Leave Stephen Carr alone - we dont need him!
We dont need to sell anybody the new owner has big enough pockets. We need a couple experienced players thats all
Plenty to consider and Wolves need to be quick, good players get snapped up quickly. What about?
Huckerby - free - 32 yes, but better than Ward/Elliot from wide
Ramage - free - better than what we have got
Loaning Scott Sinclair/Steve Sidwell or at least players of that calibre
Moxey, shut up. There is no mention of getting rid of the Wards, Elliott, Collins, Bothroyd, Olifinjana, Potter, Henry. Is kyle going back to Cov(hope so), what attempts are being made to keep Freddie if any. Zoot does not know how to rotate quality players, hence we will never make the Prem while he’s in charge let alone stay there. Wholesale changes at coaching and executive level would be the order of the day here
Ramage will do for Centre Back
Need another CB though
& a CM Gibson was useless
Forward to partner Ebanks-Blake
what a ridiculous statement moxey. Stating the obvious. Of course we’re going to get new signings, dont waste our time with this rubbish.
“Some” new players will be coming? Will they be more of the same calbre of defenders - no pace and cant defend? (Described as Experienced No nonsense - see D Ward) - Whats next? Prem loanees?
You gotta laugh!
Kyle on a permanent deal no doubt
I get a bit fed up with fans who say we should of signed this “Scott Sinclair” it’s like everybody’s seen him play week in week out. Give it a rest yeah. If he’s any good we would know about it.
Anyways bring in Huckerby, he’s still quality, and get rid of some of the donkeys we currently have in Kyle, Elliot and Bothroyd.
The best thing we can do is get rid of Eastwood for a start. What is the obsession with him. SEB is a far better player.
I’m not that bothered who goes as long as its a stronger team that can score goals and defend.
There wasn’t a fat lot with our defence last year. Our main problem has been staring us in the face for two seasons now - GOALS!
Thats the reason Sandwell won the Champ.
If we are to move forward then we have to keep all the talent, and we do have plenty of it. Don’t forget we also lost Gobern & Mark Davies all season to injury, and they would be good additions next season. Dan Jones and Gleeson back from loan spells and mark Little.
What are lacking and 12 months ago everyone was saying the same thing (except MM) is we need some decent pacey centre halfs. Breen should & so should Neil Collins, although I’d keep Craddock. Does anyone know how Lee Collins did at Hereford this season?
kris commons is on a free transfer
surely a must
also as much as i like elokobi he isnt solid enough, how about mattock of leicester whos england u21
i second the thoughts above in possibly
huckerby, ramage and sinclair and this young barnet winger
We’re going to get a lot more of this spin over the next few weeks to try and keep the fans happy.
Why do you think we’ve heard about the 40,000 stadium, “keeping the young nucleus” etc.
The fact is we’re all a bit fed up and disgrunteled fans do not spend money.
Thats why we’re getting these statements etc.
My god, most of these people I assume have the vote. If only the greeks could see what democracy has turned into.
17. Don’t waste our time with pointless posts
the look on moxey’s face tells me Hartson has already beaten him there.
Dissappointed the first new signing is not a new manager but we need a fresh approach particularly when it comes to team selection & tactics ! No more favourite players please !
A note on Elliot - I may be the only one, that thinks if played as a striker, then he is not as bad as painted . Maybe not first choice, but useful on the bench.
Newbridge - thank God there’s someone out there with a modicum of intelligence. I agree entirely - what is 17’s point exactly? If Moxey hadn’t answered questions that were put to him by Radio WM (I heard the interview) then we’d have some other village idiots on, complaining that we hear nothing from Molineux. Some people just have to say something for the sake of it. Now you’ve mentioned the vote, we can begin to see why the country’s going to hell in a handcart………..Anyway, we should sign the lad from Barnet, just so we can hear the shout “Goo on Albert” (quality)…
(17)
There is no pleasing some people is there?
If Moxey had said nothing you would have been on his back for saying nothing.
There are too many people like you on this board just lately.
Keep away from the Mol next season please.
Unfortunately, this year we have attracted fans like you. Fans that will NEVER be satisfied. Fans that complain ALL the time.
Bye bye
Good to see we will be having a few new players next season. Will be happy when kites is gone not as good as people are saying. I think we should sign Tommy Mooney from Walsall i no he is old but what a player scores for fun at Walsall
Also a new midfield player someone like Gary Speed from Sheff Utd.
Wolves Championship Winners 2012 let are young players have a few more seasons in the championship then when they are older we minght be ready for the prem.
So, more Sunderland rejects coming in then eh? Moxey, what the heck do you know? If we get the right offer of course Kightly or Hennessey will go.It’s all about the money Moxey, you more than anyone should know that.
FAO we8wba
Elokobi not solid enough???!!!!
He is pure strength. Just ask Timar. A player who gives his all.
FAO shrewswolf
If Moxey did not come out and say that Wolves were looking to add new players then the majority of people on these message boards would moan that there is no ambition. He cannot win either way.
FAO the idiot who sarcastically applauded Mick on Sunday- don’t bother coming next season.
Get behind the team no matter what.
19 Wolveswolves is at it again.
Is he winner of the Most Negative Contributor Award.
Clear off
REMEMBER THAT GOAL ELLIOT SCORED WHEN AT SUNDERLAND AGAINST US WHILE MICK WAS THERE? THAT WAS A QUALITY GOAL HE HAS POTENTIAL. jUST THINK IT WOULD BE FAIR TO SEE HIM PLAYING NEXT SEASON EVERYONE IS ON HIS BACK BEFORE HE COMES ON THE PITCH THAT SHOULDNT HAPPEN TO A WOLVES PLAYER.
Mick was at the Burton v Stevenage match recently so we are clearly going to spend big this close season. I reckon he will bring in more hungry players and in a years time we will be saying - we are building something special just wait for next year, or the year after, or the year after that….
30
richard, your havin a laff or your a boggie in disguise
Re : 21) Wolfmeister
The answer has been staring us in the face all
season too - Freddie Eastwood
Players to get rid off:
Breen, Gibson, Kyle, Collins
a few months ago all the pro mick lot were saying wait till the end of the season.well here it is & breaking news,we ain’t gone up! so who was right.
when & not if,he fails again next season, moxey will have to go aswell for backing such a joker like mick & all his little fans, will at least of learnt a very important lesson,THE NUGGETS KNOW BEST!
Who wants to put money on our first 2 permanent signings being Kyle and Gibson?
I can’t see the clamour for Huckerby. If he is still capable, why would Norwich let him go on a free?
I think, however that Ramage would be a great acquisition. I work with two Geordies, and they are gutted he is not staying at Newcastle. Their only doubt is that he is coming back from cruciate ligament problems.
Adomah, the lad from Barnett looks promising, as he can play wing or striker. Berra if we can get him, would be a good player.
Sidwell is supposedly a target for Newcastle, so I can’t see him coming to our place.
as far as wingers go, I would not sign any if we can get Davies and Gobern fit. Along with Dan Jones, we would probably have enough cover for Kights and Jarvis.
Superstardjwolves, you had a go at me for being “negative” the other day. Nice to see you are remaining “positive.” The words “pot” and “kettle” come to mind.
30 what the hell are you on about? Kites is one of our best players and he proved that by the way he came back after his long injury layoff. I’m also sick and tired of the criticism directed at Mick McCarthy,it’s amazing how he was a hero last year and a villian this! the man can do no right for doing wrong! I think some so called Wolves fans are not happy unless they have something to moan about, if you don’t like it then just get lost! Come on you Wolves!
Thank God I have not renewed my season ticket next season! Some of the worst home performances on record - boring, slow builds up play and hardly any goals - not promotion football. Time for changes and no excuses. Well done to WBA and Stoke - two teams who have attacked and scored plenty of goals which wins promotion! Not rocket science is it????
I can’t wait to see the new versions of Collins, D Ward, Gibson, Elliott, Bothroyd et al
It just gets so exciting, bring on the new season!!
the type of players we need are the likes of tom huddlestone young players in the prem he was quality on loan at wolves
Ramage = D Ward, Breen, Collins, Craddock, Edwards!!!
We need PACE AT THE BACK!!!
ahem.
2 Centre halfs, another winger, Doyle from Coventry, another Midfielder with passing ability (oh yes).
Eliot and Ward do not excite, but they might be useful championship players if played in the right position. So provided they are not on huge salaries they should stay as cover.
This is like back to the future…. did someone cut and paste this story from pre-season ??
next story will be “we are looking at some young starlets from the preier league”. i think “starlets” was the phrase Moxey actually used last year.
Still, nothing like diverting your attention is there…
I love that picture of moxey.
Is that the look of suprise he had when he and McCarthy looked at the table and found you wern’t champions after all ??
who owns this club, i think that Moxey does, the way he talks
Would love to join in the comments but am too busy watching pigs flying.
Somewhere, a country of villages have all lost their idiot’s. Huckerby???? Young and hungry, oh yes.
Be glad to see the back of Eastwood. Teams do not need the kind of disharmony he brought to the dressing room. Bet he scores againt us next season though!
I think most Wolves fans are in agreement with who should go, As for replacements really good players cost really good money. It is rare indeed to find bargains the like of Kites.
I have said before and will say again Halmosi from Plymouth is just about the best midfield player outside the prem. Timar as anyone could see last Sunday would be a great signing really strengthen the defence. Ramage too would be good.
Dont know enough about the Barnet lad to comment but if the scouts like him must be ok.
I do hope that the big clubs do not unsettle our youngsters to try and wheedle them away.
Up The Wolves.
first we need a new MD
we need to new centre halves one could be the freebie from newcastle and what aboout elliot from coventry if freddie isnt part of the plans thenoffer a straight swap also go for james beattie who wants fiorst team football
Re 40) Huckerby’s contract isn’t gonna be renewed by Roeder as he was causing upheaval at NCFC, upsetting the dressing room, speaking publicly about other players & the lack of effort etc. I don’t think Roeder wants a stirrer amongst the ranks. Just the same when Ian Wright spoke out at Arsenal, the new manager comes in, & removes the bad apple.
Same old story ever year, what sort of idiots does Moxey think we are, the big build up starts here for 2008/2009, lets just wait for the let down !
I think “very special” is going a bit OTT. We have a long long way to go before get anywhere near remotely special.
Can you go as well Mr Moxey! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
29. Notts Wolf
Another traffic warden telling us what to do! This business of ordering fans with different opinions to stay away just has to stop. I order it!
If only the Greeks could see what has happened to democracy!
trying to sell some season tickets ay jez. Have we not sold as many? i wonder why?
Someone in the know tells me that Tomasz Frankoski is available in case we end up with a striker shortage. Or what about Sammy Al’Jabir??
What a relief he didnt say that yorkie bar Mcarthy is getting more money for players.
Mad Mick bought 9 strikers in the last 18 months and failed the supporters and the club by 1 goal.
I wouldn’t trust him with enough money for a pint of milk
of course we’re going to make signings, we’re not going to win the league with breen at centre back!
Those running down Mcarthy should remember what he achieved in his first season. give him another season, and see what he does with morgans money. if anyone should be going its Moxey!
ramage…a player released by newcastle because they don’t rate him good enough for the premier…yeah right yet another quality signing for wolves if mick is after him not!!
well roy keane is releasing half his squad…wonder how many mick will try to bring into wolverhampton we used to be sunderland wolves???
mr morgan please get paul ince in as manager and back him with money to purchase a couple of u21 international players who are only fringe players from premier squads
Sorry Jez but your promises dont mean a thing anymore. In my opinion you have been found out to many times !! You refuse to listen or comunicate openly with fans and have not demonstrated the kind of ability that is needed to direct this club to bigger and better things, generating income is a priority but surely it has to be matched with ambition !! Your PR is a disgrace and I hope Mr Morgan thinks twice about keeping you involved at this club.
All these people barking at Moxey should look beyond their nose. He’s stabilised the finances of this club. Granted he’s dropped some clangers but that’s par for the course.
Ok we’ve had a dissapointing season and MM has made mistakes. But there’s been a lot of positivity from the club this week and I for one think this is the start of something good.
MM has another year so I suggest you stop throwing your toys out your pram (I’m not renewing my season ticket … blah blah….) and get behind the lads and management and help push this club into the premier league next season.
Breretonwolf. What?
cornish wolf you talk a load of crap,
66- w’hall coseley boot, you show how little you know, and also that you are a bandwagon boy. Ramage was not “…released by newcastle because they don’t rate him good enough for the premier…” If you read what Keegan said, he wanted Ramage to stay, but Ramage was not willing to without a guarantee that he would be starting regularly. With him not being able to get that guarantee (no-one else at Newcastle is guaranteed a start either) Ramage decided to leave. I work with two Geordies, and they rate him very highly. Both of them would have loved him to stay, as they believe the ideal CB pairing for Newcastle would be Stephen Taylor and Peter Ramage. (Both players are fairly young also.) Their only doubt is that he is coming back from cruciate ligament surgery.
45- Mouthbreather, Ramage has got pace. He started as a striker, and was converted to a CB, and was selected for England on one occasion as a defender.
72. wolvo
Thank-you for your informed comment. Glad you took the time to read my post!
Never mind the signings, what about the outgoings.
My wish list to leave wolves are:-
Kyle
Elliott
S.Ward
Breen
Jay B,
D.Gibson
N.Collins “I am on my knees praying for this one”
Wolves need to knock out the rotten dead wood.
Wolverine,
It’s all very well telling people to stop complaining and to get behind the boys, but Moxey and all high level football exec’s have to remember something - we’re not paying 10p to get in, it’s expensive, and we have leisure time alternatives.
If people feel they’re being lied to about the intentions of the club, I have every sympathy should they not renew their season ticket. I didn’t renew mine after we got relegated from the Prem because frankly the effort to stay there was pathetic (i.e. Steffan Iversen, are you kidding me?).
The whole ‘get behind the boys’ schtick is EXACTLY what the fat cats want - they’re feeding off your loyalty. If they don’t get the chequebook out, neither should you. Let’s face it, the style of football at the Mol is hardly enjoyable…it’s not like we’ve done an Arsenal (play great football but end up with nothing), we’ve played dross and ended with nowt.
This is the only business I know where you can tell your customers to sod off and totaly ignore any comments they make
77. Not sure about that. My electricity supplier and mobile phone operator does it.
76 Riot Gear - Spot On!
We played so far back last season and had very little by way of outlets to attack - and there was little or no difference in the vast majority of games home or away!
No pace at the back = play the midfield just infront of the centre halves No surprise that we kept clean sheets when we had what a 6 to 8 man defence nearly ALL season!
Playing Non wingers on the flanks = No options to attack - So No surprises that we could hardly score enough goals!
SEB worked out better than Freddie - Why? More games where he remained on the pitch and also that SEB plays a holding role better than FE?
If that was the type of striker MM wanted why did we buy Freddie?
Why not get another similar to SEB like Stern John from Saints?
Gobern, Kites and Jarvis had lengthy spells injured - so what did we do? Play S Ward wide left for quite a few games etc etc etc
Not exactly giving any front paring any regular service? So who is that down to - the fans?
How long did it take MM to find/ know his front 2? And does he know his front pairing now?
The list goes on and on…..
But alas Moxey likes MM and MM likes Moxey - What a Happy Pair they are! Similar outlook and views - they BOTH hate us Nuggets aka Wolves fans; they BOTH love thier own opinions - and the sound of their own voices - even if it makes no sense at all
As for SM - Is he really happy with the “entertainment value” at the Mol? Maybe he should ask most Wolves fans because we dont know many that are happy with the dross we were served up home and away!
But there again he supports Liverpool so he can always get some relief from MM’s dire garbage each season!
Another season over - Another season to look forward to?
Not under MM - The same old garbage - sit back defend defend defend - If you cant win - try not to lose = end result - FAILURE!
Football is really a simple concept - score more than the opposition and you win!!!
1 Year later Moxey promises new signings for 2009-2010 and says Mick will do a great job in league 1!!
One signature we do want Moxey is yours — on the bottom of a resignation letter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
