It’s started, I dare say a lot of others will jump onto the bandwagon and I think we will sell him for 6 or 7 Mil. Thanks for the good times Kites
1,dudz,how much, your havin a laff aint ya,it hes wuf that how much is super chris brunt wuf
boing boing chrisie brunt brunt brunt
Of course we will sell him SEB and Hennessey.
These players are wanting to get to play in the premiership and frankly they know Mick isn’t the man to get us there.
Lets hope we get a new manager in who can spend the money wisely.
Same old story with Kevin Phillips
I did see him actually say on camera, with words coming out of his mouth when asked whether he thought he’d be at Albion next season
“I cannot see no reason why”
I’d rather belive the words coming directly from his mouth thankyou E&S
So we’re going to keep Kightly, SEB, Jarvis and Hennessey. McCarthy is going to stay, add a couple of players to his already strong squad and next season it will be automatic promotion!
Then Mr Morgan will build us a new stadium with a Luxury Hotel. Massive underground parking for match days with enough terrace bars to mean the end of queues!
Mr Moxey will freeze season ticket prices and reduce the price of cup of tea at half time to 25p!
Fantastic time ahead for all of us!
Almost forgot to mention that a squadron of pigs flew past my window in arrow formation this morning and as they flew past the squadron leader smiled and saluted me!
Everything I’ve said is true - honest guv!
Tony,
I think he said I don’t see any reason why not.
I do take your point though about the E&S and I thought the coverage in yesterdays paper of our Championship winners was frankly appalling.
tonywba ,,spot on mate i heard that off supa kev too ,this paper does get ya goat sometimes so idle….WEVE STORMED THE PREM THE MOWBRAY WAY,,,IN STYLE OF COURSE,,,OH YES..
p.s morning tel hows the head mate after all that beer and boingboinging…jac says hi.
1. 6 - 7 Million?? ha ha.. funnier than missin out on GD!!
I hear baggies are after dutch whizzkid, K Jones, dingle keeper and Paul Ince to run our reserves??!!!
CHAMPIONS…
tel,,,i saw ya on the tele with ya big banana,my it is a whopper mate in it,,youll have someones eye out with that if you aint carefull,,,WEVE STORMED THE PREM THE MOWBRAY WAY,,,IN STYLE OF COURSE,,,OH YES.
Yeah I saw KP say he could be staying - he seemed well up for it…. Not sure where / why this has been printed today, but it will can sorted now - one way or the other.
Can’t believe the wolves missed out by one goal - oh if only we had beaten Watford the other week at our place…. Haaaaaaaaaaa
Guess who were the only team not to score against us last season…. yep you got it….
Thats GOTTA hurt !!!!!!
More stirring from the express and D. Probably to appease the Wolves fans who are living up to the fact that their best players are going elsewhere. Silly rumours like these are a last ditch attempt at having a pop at Albion before we head off into the sunset. The promised land awaits.
Kev said on TV that he doesn’t see a reason why he cant stay. Thats good enough for me.
Wolves fans laughed last season when a large part of our aquad was leaving.
Who’s laughing now?
Just looking at all the stats. for the last decade in the championship. It makes interesting reading!
81 points is the lowest since 1996/7 when Barnsley took second place. I think that the Albion have been very lucky this season and I also believe they will have to spend lots of money to avoid Derby’s point haul, but who will go to West Bromwich?
Wolves are on the edge, it is going to take something really special to lift them out of mid-table obscurity!
B’ham, I think it’s all over for them, Walsall, likewise!
Villa, mid table again, the best the Midlands can hope for!
Don’t think there is going to be much to shout about next season!
Roll on this time next year when the baggies have been relegated. Chris Brunt isn’t fit to tie Ashley Young’s boot laces. The Villa will spend more on one player than you lot do in the whole transfer window. Your clud isn’t big enough for our leaugue. UP THE VILLA
13. Villa legend
Your club isn’t big enough for Villa Park and you’re manager is too big for the Villa!
You just had this decades big finish, hope you enjoyed it!
wolves get rid of list -
collins, s.ward, breen, bothroyd, maybe craddock, gibson
wolves sign list
mattock, 2 centre halfs, 1 decent midfield not cheap one but 1m+ midfielder
and kev phillips if he is released
get fit or into 1st team list
d.jones, m.davies, m.little, l.gobern, m.murray
12 - people are making a big deal from our points total, but i think it just reflects the quality in the championship these days….
None of the relegated teams from the previous season got automatic promotion - there were several teams using parachute money - 3 championship sides got the FA Cup semis (which shows that there is quality throughout the division).
Who knows what we will do next season - but the points total is no indication.
I agree with the KP comments. He said it in such a matter of fact way, as if to say ‘why would anyone be in any doubt.’
On Wakey’s point. I don’t know if I’m being paranoid as well but I felt that not just the E&S but the entire media coverage was pathetic. A Martian landing could have been forgiven for thinking Stoke were the Champions and we had crept in as runners up. Oh well I suppose it will prepare us for being ignored next season.
PS. Commiserations to the decent Wolfies that post on here, a terrible way to miss out. People say that the Championship was a weak league this year. I disagree. Football wise it will always be way behind most of the Prem but it’s a battle every year and a different kind of challenge. I think the coming season will be just as tough, if not more so. A divided club will have no chance and if Mick is staying, all of the fans will need to back him and the players.
I’ve been away for a week and since coming back I’ve had a glance through the site. The most ‘interesting’ development is Terrymidlandfan. This person’s modus operandi seems to be. 1. Post a quasi-knowledgable/controversial piece, inviting responses. 2. When people respond, TMF claims to have caught them in his net. All a bit silly. If you want debate then debate. If you want to wind people up, have a look at how TWB does it and learn at the masters knee, you can’t mix both. PS. I’ve never trusted anyone who won’t say which team they follow, there’s no such thing as a football fan who has no allegiance to one team.
16. Happy_baggie
Just daft to say that the points total is no indicator!
What it does mean is that you ‘lost’ 8 games away from home, in a poor championship. I think it means that you will struggle to win a single game away from home in the premiership!
The FA cup is a sad reflection on how our domestic game has gone. Premiership clubs just don’t take it that seriously any more. It will be like the league cup soon. Look at FA cup third round day! It used to be one of the most exciting days of the season, now you are lucky to get 10 thousand at the match!
The two semis this season were probably the most boring games of the season to watch!
It was a poor league this year too!
17. i agree i actually thought the coverage of your team winning the Title was pathetic(and that coming from a Wolves Fan).Stoke where all over Sky and the papers.
Best team in the division by a long shot for playing football this season where Albion.
good luck in the prem and i am confident that we will be joining you the.(hopefully you will still be there)
i still think its been a great season everything seemed to go down to the wire.
and its the same for the prem.
see you all next season for another roller coaster ride whichever team you support.
and one thing to take from this season is the gap doesnt seem as big as it once was between the two divisions, and noe of the relegated teams from the prem won automatic.
Just hope watford dont win the playoffs with their hoofball tactics.
14.abdonwolf
Villa park has been given the go ahead for expansion. We’ve averaged 41000 this season. something you dingles could only dream of. onwards and upwards for the villa. proudest history in the midlands and the brightest future
I cant believe phillips, bruce and wigan are offering him more money thats why he is stalling on a new contract. Money always wins in football albion and wolves will always struggle to establish themselves in the top flight. Its gonna be along summer at the albion trying to find decent players. Well least we are there up the albion.!!
Great News !! Baggies are one of the favourites for RELEGATION next season and are tipped to have a season full of gloom doom and hammerings. Just think - we could have had that to look forward to as well if we had gone up - maybe its not such a bad thing ;-) Ive always said you have to storm this division with ease - be up by Easter and be making plans for the prem to stay up. Thats the only way for the Wolves !! Reading did it and they survived - may not this season tho as inreality they are a small club ( Fulham possibly too)
Well no open top bus tour for us. They said West Brom football club did’nt want one?. Anyway if Phillips wants to leave let him leave he has been a top player the last 2 seasons. But will he still be good for the Prem? I think not.
EVERYONE STOP…..
A villa fan has actually posted something on here…
now i dont know about the rest of you but i wasn’t 100% certain that they knew how to spell…or even write…
you never know we might get licky and have Blue Noses and Walsall fans on here next…gotta say lads im in shock!
13: Villa Legend
It must be boring being a Villa fan, knowing your not gonna challenge for the title or you not gonna have a relegation scrap, you not gonna compete for the best players shall I go on?
Whereas the other midlands teams on a whole are always in a promotion/relegation/playoff scrap, I’d rather see a team that have something to play for every season would’nt you?
I predict a 6th - 10th place finish for the Villa next season….don’t suppose I’ll be too far off
13 & 21 Nasty foot.
If I were you I’d worry about hanging on to your players and manager before you come on here having a go at the Black Country. Or is it to help to take your ‘mind’ off it.
22. Baggie bloke.
Are you really? Putting up the albion at the end doesn’t make you one.
Would the Villa fan kindly go & sit in the naughty corner & stick to crayons & colouring books?
21. Villa legend says…
“Roll on this time next year when the baggies have been relegated. Chris Brunt isn’t fit to tie Ashley Young’s boot laces. The Villa will spend more on one player than you lot do in the whole transfer window. Your clud isn’t big enough for our leaugue. UP THE VILLA
And…
“Villa park has been given the go ahead for expansion. We’ve averaged 41000 this season. something you dingles could only dream of. onwards and upwards for the villa. proudest history in the midlands and the brightest future”
Did you come all this way just to say all that?
Well done chap, have a banana!
i think we should try and sign Thomas Gravesen from everton or celtic not sure.he’d be a great signing for wolves just in front of the back 4.
Well done baggies, good season playing football the right way, pleased for Mowbray he seems a decent bloke. From the days when McGee had the money and Buckley was broke you’ve really turned it around us and I think you’ve got a lot to thank Megson for. If wolves had been able to play sundays’eleven out most weeks we would have definitelybeen in the play-offs, but thats football. Back next season for another dose of punishment don’t you just love this gae.
28.. Kent Wolf .. where have you been I aint seen you post for a while hope you have been ok
Regards
Baggie Boy
23 muppet mick ,,we might be tipped to have a terrible season but dont be surprised if we prove you all wrong again…we cant fail the mowbray way can we,alot better than mad micks way thats for sure,,enjoy your day trip to hereford MUPPET….STORMED THE PREM THE MOWBRAY WAY,,IN STYLE OF COURSE,,,OOOOOOOOOOOOH YES.
25. Walsall fans dont post on here because of many reasons..
1) the main reason is that there isnt many of us
2) we never have any transfer rumours ( thank you mr bonsor)
i could go on all day but ill let you lot continue..
After reading most of the comments on here, I fail to see where your enjoyment next season will come from?
Without Wolves to beat what’s left?
Comment 35 was aimed at Albion fans!
19 such a poor championship, how true!
anyone failing to have even made the playoffs must be so shockingly poor they should give give up playing football alltogether
that would include… wolves
your logic not mine
or maybe its that the championship was ultracompetitive and as the cup showed they are good teams even against premiership opposition and your sour grapes do no one any favours at all
WBA-getting a little carried away with their Mowbray way, 15th finish at best next year
Wolves-could let Hennesey go, need to hold onto Kites, 2 new centre halfs a must, chance of top 6 then
Villa-will have chance for 5th in PL if he holds onto Barry and signs a couple more players
Bham-who knows? think they will lose the poor-mans Tevez to PL side
37. Natalie K
There is no sour grapes at all. If you have noticed my posts this year they are 99% about Wolves and I am under no allusions as to where Wolves as a club are at the moment!
Wolves are an average championship team and in most other seasons this would have been a mid-table finish. A reality that most Albion fans on here like to point out to us Wolves at every possible occasion!
I try to give my opinion about the football and in my opinion Albion will struggle to win games away from home in the premiership. Unless you spend lots of money, and I don’t think that is going to happen, do you?
The FA cup is not the competition it used to be, that is a fact, however you dress it up! Not everything is about you (Albion) My comments were footballing thoughts not the usual Wolves/Albion flim-flam!
I have noticed lots of Wolves fans complimenting you on your success and a awful lot of gloating coming the other way - not very classy!
However, there is footballing reality to think about and the evidence is there for all to see. Most clubs come straight back down and both Wolves and Albion suffer from that scenario, sour grapes do not come into it!
If it makes you feel good letting me know that my point is right but Wolves are even worse then so be it, sort of backs up what I am saying really doesn’t it?
Wolves, Albion, Villa!
reading your comments is like watching three very old, very fat ex-heavy weight boxers trying to fight each other in a mud bath!
Sad really!
4. Wrong again! Your constant digs at Mick are a bore.
Wayne, Kites and SEB are bound to be mentioned all over the papers and of course papers never lie!
The main point is that The Chairman says we have no need or desire to sell our younger players.
WolvesWolves how about supporting the club for a change.
Rumour for the Wolves fans…. Dan Jones is on his way out as he reckons he wont get a look in next season. I’m not $h1t stirring, it’s just something I’ve been told
39. I have to agree. There seems to be a lack of genuine footballing discussion on this website recently. I dip in and out, usually dipping out due to the mindless jibing and sack mick, play freddy, wims better than yow comments.
Wolves are a young championship team at the moment but we are lucky enough to have a very rich owner who is willing to invest in the future of the club. We should count ourselves lucky.
I hope albion stay in the premiership as they have played good football this season but it will be a struggle. They have set a good example for other clubs to follow, however, they do need to spend money to strengthen the squad to give themselves a chance.
Happy 12.
Think you’re kidding yourself mate. This is by no means just criticising you as fair play you can only beat what’s in front of you and you did it enough to win the league. We werren’t good enough to make the Play-Offs so this reflects how poor we are.
But the league really was as poor as it’s been for many years. Just look at the quality of some of the teams at the top end of the table. Bristol City, Hull, Stoke, clearly yes shows how poor we have been this season particularly the first half, as these teams all finished above us.
To be honest Happy I think your kidding yourself if don’t see what a poor standard it’s been. I was suprised to not see you run away with a poor league like this.
I think this is also why you really need quite a few new players. The standard in your team is not good enough for the Prem, you don’t just need squad players you need a fair few new first team players. I also think though that your board and Mowbray shall know this and I think you got a good manager who may well be able to get you the players to win that relegation battle. Well done on promotion, the best team in the league won the league.
35 worcester(capslockon)boggie - you really ought to check your cut & paste signature - it’s next season you may be storming the prem, you ain’t been there this season, looking forward to the 6 points you’ll be giving us next season.
beating the boggies the O’Neil way - easily
44 - I only make the point that none of the relegated teams made automatic promotion - and watford only managed to just make 6th place - so the teams that came from the prem were certainly no better than their championship rivals.
Also, there were plenty of teams (inc us) who had parachute money to use - plus several teams with wealthy owners - THATS why we were all beating each other - and next season will be even harder. There is more money in the championship than ever before - and that raises the standards.
I don’t understand how when a team wins the league by 20 points its a quality division, bit when its tight and no one runs away with it, its seen as a poor league.
maybe its cos albion won it ?
Either way - the season is over and now TM and Co will start to prepare us for the Prem - and who would really bet against him ??
Or maybe your saying the opposite ‘cos albion won it’. If you read my most properly you’d see I am not pathetic enough (like some) to not give other teams’ credit. You mention the teams going down not going straight up, but the teams coming down are often the ones that went up. Now i’m going to start saying stuff like “oh you’ll only come down” as like I said I think you’ve got some intelligent people in charge who have a chance of keeping you up. It’s just a matter of taking your rose tinted glasses off and seeing what’s there. But if you want to think it’s the Division’s been for years then you do that. You thinking you shall finish higher than the likes of Reading, West Ham and Wigan did in their first seasons then?
Wolves9 - i never said it was the best - just a different type of league - a lot more clubs of a similar standard. And normally it is the teams that come down who fight it out for promotion - but not this year.
Yes we had a low points total - but we have also scored over 200 goals in 2 seasons - and THATS the stat that i think will make a difference in the prem - teams that can score, and create scoring opportunities can do well.
yes we need to improve and strengthen - and we will, but we have the basis of a good squad already, and a great manager to guide us.
If we can do a west ham, Reading or Wigan i will be delighted.
Or maybe you think we shouldn’t try…
47 should say Now i’m not going to start.
Or maybe your saying the opposite ‘cos albion won it’. If you read my most properly you’d see I am not pathetic enough (like some) to not give other teams’ credit. Milking this on aren’t I ha, just realised type errors.
The whole debate regarding the quality of the Championship this season has me scratching my head, i think what has happened this season is that more managers have adopted the approach of playing a certain type of football to get results. Stoke, Watford, and Bristol City are not easy on the eye, but they have acheived a top six finish and would therefore justify their tactics.
However what it does create is a league where the games lack flair, creativity, and individualism. Yes, the Albion were one of a few exceptions and maybe been a little spoilt this season.
For one i am under no illusions that next season will be tough, but hey, i just want to wallow in the glory for another couple of weeks, then i will start worrying!!!
