I was interested in Gordon Brown’s visit to the Midlands and intrigued by the fact that he found workers asking for a cost of living salary increase to be “regrettable and unjustifiable” as the pay award had been decided by an “independent body”.
Perhaps teachers should be allowed the same facilities as the Westminster school, which sets itself outrageous and inflationary pay awards. Does Gordon find this “pigs in the trough” perfectly justifiable? I’m sure he does. That’s not to mention the extraordinary housing allowances paid to the staff of the Westminster establishment.
I find it incredible that Gordon and the rest of the neo-socialists can seek to justify below inflation pay for the under-resourced and underpaid teaching profession while allowing the everyday price hikes in the day to day living expenses of Britain. See Tesco, Asda etc; and in the realms of the super poor, Shell, Texaco and so on (44 per cent increase in the cost of a tank of diesel since November), who are recording hitherto unknown levels of profit and prosperity in Rip Off Britain.
Socialists – real socialists – would be outraged by the antics of this present administration who are overseeing the welfare of the wealthy and rich, while trying to ensure the people who keep our society ticking over, the “ordinary” workers, have to struggle to survive in an increasingly cost-ridden society.
Gordon, Mrs Thatcher would be proud of you and your team of middle-class intelligentsia, with their second homes and private schools. While I don’t want to see a return of the class war, I would like to see a fair deal for all in the society in which we share.

Ok, give higher pay rises. Just expect higher bills to pay for them.
Higher taxes to pay for government paid workers, higher council tax to pay for council paid workers and so on.
Inflation can be a bitter spiral, increasing inflation due to increasing costs leading to increased pay demands, leading to increasing costs to pay for those demands and so on.
Simple solution if you don’t like the pay deal offered by an employer. Leave and go to a different employer. Few types of job will have no alternitive employer (or self employment) as an option.

LET THEM EAT CAKE !!(MARIE-ANTOINETTE)(WHO LATER GOT HER HEAD CUT OFF)
CHINA IS A LONG WAY ON YER BIKE !
AS FOR BEING USELESS IF YOU HAVE NOT GOT A CAR AT THE AGE OF THIRTY…..AS THE IRON LADY APPARENTLY THOUGHT.
STILL SHE FILLED THE COFFERS BEFORE THEY THEN GOT EMPTIED.
QUESTION : WAS IT EASIER THEN ?????
Sorry les but i have to point out that there are no such things as real socialists. If you awarded everyone in the country a million pounds they would ALL accept it i guarentee it!
When Maggie T and Rupert Murdoch were seen leaving No 10 the day TB was elected in 1997, the deal had been done. TB’s gov’t was and GB’s administration now is an extended version of her administration !!!!
Why did he invite her round for tea last year ? To keep her updated and in the frame of course !!! It ain’t the Party that runs the gov’t and nation - it is a circle of establishment figures in a smoked filled room somewhere in Whitehall.
GB is just a puppet and no more powerful that Queen Elizabeth II. Infact in hindsight the monarch probably has more powers than he does - THANK GOODNESS !!!!
Any more conspiracy theories you want to share with us Ian?
Well Martin great stuff I you don’t like the 2% pay rise on offer go somewhere else.. Where do you suggest.. Maybe the big bosses would like to accept 2% pay rise..but then again 2% of £50K a year plus is decent compared to the workers struggling on under £14K a year…
Bring back old labour. New labour is finished
At least old labour were for the working people of this country unlike Blue Labour of today who just look after the ones that line their big fat pockets…
Could some one explain to me what old labour is? All i remember of old labour is a man nicknames worzal gummage and a welsh man called kinnock.Wasn’t it new labour that won three elections with overwhelming support from the public? Can’t say i think Mr Brown is the right man for the job but the new labour is a whole lot better than the lot of the 80’s
remember kinnock he was old labour, he is currently raking it in from the e.u as are all his family, the current nu lab bunch of crooks are raking it in from the e.u (by selling us out and have broken their promise of a referendum)can you see a connection?
just going off on a slight tangent re the recent strikes - socialism - still here??? me thinks not - E & S printed in the paper that Unision said that approx 10% of council worker went to work …….. from the amount of staff seen at the civic centre it was more like 90% - socialism is dying along with strking with no pay etc etc, people need to come to a more logical and less neanderthal stance if they want a pay increase - plus now is not the time to do it!!!
