Albion star Zoltan Gera has hinted that he will be part of the Baggies’ Premier League return next season.
The Hungarian winger is out of contract this summer with speculation linking him to moves away from The Hawthorns.
But today the 29-year-old suggested he was ‘on his way back’ to the top flight with the Baggies in August.
“I have already sampled the Barclays Premier League with West Brom, so I need no reminding that I’m on my way back to the greatest club competition in the world,” he said.
And Gera, who has been watched by the likes of Bolton and Wigan, paid tribute to manager Tony Mowbray, describing him as one of football’s calmest men. And he praised Mowbray’s half-time team talk during the 1-1 draw with Southampton that sealed promotion.
Gera said: “We had been flying since beating Wolves 1-0, but seeing the finishing line so close had an inhibiting effect.
“Southampton were desperate to stay up and the nerves were jangling throughout that first half.
“That is when the boss stepped in. ‘Nothing to worry about,’ he said. ‘You have won so many games at home this season. One more, that’s all. No need for any nerves.’
“He’s the most calm football man I have known and his reassuring words did the trick.”
Gera also praised the quality of the Championship, having helped the Baggies clinch their first title in 88 years.
“The Championship has to be the best second tier anywhere in the world by a distance. Back home in Hungary, they can’t believe it when I say I’ve played at somewhere like Leicester, Bramall Lane or Molineux and the attendance was around 30,000.
“The second division there attracts crowds of a few hundred.”

I am gutted no parade - I am leaving the UK in 2 months time to live in Australia, I would have loved to celebrate with other baggie fans on winning the championship. It would have been a good memory to go with.
Stick with us gera ,you are a legend whatever you decide-but an albion great if you stick with us as it suits your style of play..boing boing
Gera seems to have more integrity than most, he has never lied about his position, and i wish him well, i also hope he stays!!
This guy is the main player we need to sign for us.
Gera in the prem, the Mowbray way, awesome.
Boing Boing - CHAMPIONS
Zoltan, I doubt you read this web-site, but just in case … I’d love you to stay for the Mowbray Premiership ride. You know how tough it will be, you’ve been there before, but this team is better than Megson’s or Robson’s. If you want to move on, fair play, I’ll have great memories of some great goals. You’ll always be a Baggies legend, scoring the winner in a Black Country derby will ensure that, but such an important one, sending us on our way to promotion and the title, and as it turned out, keeping the Wolves out of the play-offs.
Whatever he does all the best. People move on… Good luck zolly x
I want Zolly to stay - but we will also need to afford him.
This will be zolly’s last big contarct and if we can meet his wage demands then i’m sure he would want to stay - but that might mean paying him a lot more than the rest of the squad.
I’m not saying he aint worth it - but do we need the disharmony in the dressing room if he is on £10k a week more than anyone else ??
There is a lot for TM and JP to think about.
zoltan u have to stay,u are one of the main reasons behind this fantastic season, but even if u do decide to go,plse make sure u leave us for a bigger club than ourselves, not a wigan or bolton, god bless zolly u will always be a true baggie legend to me,
We love you Zoltan - especially for your goal against WWFC. Stay~
Gera will will stay because he knows how good the baggies are and will do well in the premiership, with a few additions to the squad we will stay up and prove M-O-D lineker Hanson and lawrenson wrong
you know it makes sence gera,we are going places boing boing who put the ball in the dingles net
2,jane,can i come with you we can celebrate together boing boing how ya duin shelia
If Gera stays it’ll be a major coup for WBA as he is the type of player we need in the Prem. Philips also, just hope Peace has the guts to give him what he wants, minus all the “options” in the clubs favour.
Zoltan! I along with the rest of the baggies supporters want you to stay, you and Kevin are an inspiration to the team.
Look back 12 Months Ago when we lost Kamara, Koumas,Ellington and Davies etc. Where are they now, struggling to stay in the Prem.
You both know that it will be a struggle in the Prem at first but this season you and the rest of the Albion Players have all been playing as a United Team. As long as JP and TM give you a decent offer I hope that you will consider it.
You could be pressing the self destruct button if you leave, therefore will you think long and hard before you make any rash decisions. TM and JP pull your fingers out before we lose these excellent players.
GERAAAAAA MUSTTTT STAYYYY, GERAAAAA MUSTTTT STAYYY WHOAAAHHHHHHH
