Promotion hero Chris Brunt today predicted the Championship title could be just the start of Tony Mowbray’s Albion adventure.
Brunt struck his second goal in a week to seal victory at QPR and ensure the club’s first title in 88 years.
But the Northern Ireland, who also scored the goal against Southampton that clinched promotion last Monday, believes life could get even better for the Baggies in the Premier League next season. He said: “They were both good goals. The one at Rangers was the better goal but it is a close call as to which of them means the most.
“It is brilliant to win the title. That was our main aim when we went to QPR.
“We wanted to do it for all the fans who travelled and it was a nice way way to round everything off.
“It feels a lot better to have a winners’ medal rather than a runners-up medal. It’s a great feeling.”
“I have been fortunate enough to have been promoted twice now in a short time.
“That’s great because you get a lot of players who don’t get anything through their careers.Hopefully next season can be even better.”
Brunt, who was promoted to the Championship with Sheffield Wednesday two seasons ago, paid tribute to the Albion fans who roared their team to top spot yesterday.
“They were brilliant,” he said. “It is hard to describe. It is what we have been playing for all season and what we have worked hard for. It’s a massive relief to get there on one hand but on another it is a massive achievement and it is fantastic for everybody.”
