Wolves fans will be wondering what might have been after the Molineux side missed out on a place in the Championship play-offs.
Mick McCarthy’s men won their final home game of the season 1-0 against Plymouth but it was only their 11th victory at Molineux in 23 attempts.
Watford’s draw away at Blackpool was enough to deny Wolves a place in the top six.
Looking back, dropped points after leading against the likes of Watford and Ipswich proved costly.
Seeing their local rivals West Brom take the Championship crown - and in some style - will make disappointment all the more painful for Wolves fans.
They may point to the long absence of Michael Kightly and the lack of goals from the much-anticipated arrival Freddy Eastwood as being other factors in the failure.
Fans have also been debating Mick McCarthy’s position as manager at regular intervals during the season, forcing senior figures at the club to publicly back their man.
Wolves are aiming high - Molineux could be completely rebuilt under ambitious plans to increase its capacity to 40,000.
Owner Steve Morgan wants to make the stadium a more intimidating venue for the opposition and create a hotel as part of the grand scheme.
The Molineux chairman met with chief executive Jez Moxey and architects last week as part of a series of meetings to form plans.
Their short-term plans will be decided once the dust has settled on a season where Wolves promised to build on last season’s play-off finish but ultimately missed out at the final whistle.

Merlin mick has lost the plot. Even if we’d gone up, I’d have said to get rid of him for the simple reason that we play unattractive football which would not have coped in the Premiership (even with some new players). His style couldn’t hack it with Sunderland in the Premiership.
Lets think more long term and get someone like Ince or Martinez (Swansea) in who will play attractive football and hopefully get us up and stay up.
Mr Morgan - get your wallet out - we need two new centre backs, one new fullback who can play left or right and a quality central midfielder like Kris Commons.

Great end to the season proves that MM knows what he’s doing and that those calling for his head are, well, WRONG. The boo boys who set out to ruin a promising young team cost us considerably more than the 1 point we needed to get into the playoffs. I hope all REAL Wolves fans give them a heartfelt THANKS for that and that the ticket office doesn’t renew their season tickets.
Now that Kightly and Jarvis are fit and we have a striker who can actually score goals (unlike the overhyped Freddy) we can push on next season. Yes we need to strenghten, especially in defence. Yes, MM made some mistakes. But, continuing the stupidity of the last 20 years by sacking a manager before he’s had a chance to build a real time is obviously NOT the answer.

So he takes off our second highest scorer to bring on Eastwood instead of going for it with 3 strikers, which he eventually did in the 89th minute.
He has to go, and bring in Big Sam or preferably Ince.

What’s needed? A little bit more experience in the team. Look at Man Utd - lots of young players, but giggs, scholes, ferdinand etc as the backbone in the team. Plus young players can learn off them. Then look at arsenal - pure youth. In terms of players:
- Two fast, quality, level headed centre backs
- proper cover for the wings is essential - cost us the season
- high quality central midfielder.
- sell Elliot, Ward
In an ideal world MM would go - not going to happen, so how about some humility next season Mick and lose the ridiculous favouritism and playing players out of position.

Win, lose or draw today was an irrelevance. You judge by performance over the season.
People get obsessed with the play-offs but it’s a lottery ticket entry into the Premier League.
We should have a team that is in or competing on a weekly basis for the top 2 (as predicted and promised by MM) and we’re well short of that!
Those who blame the injuries we’ve suffered would do well to think of those teams who suffered more….Stoke to name but one! We had a big enough squad - and certainly enough strikers - to cope.
It is, of course, ironic that we missed out on the play-offs by dint of scoring so few goals….a fault we had last season and still haven’t remedied.
Commiserations to the players and the manager - neither of whom can be faulted for trying - but we just don’t have the quality in either department and I just wish MM would have the honesty and humility to admit it!

Lets be honest we all agree we didnt deserve promotion this season and that wasnt helped by injuires and off field issues with Freddy etc.
However, lets be honest last season we over achieved. Therefore when looking at what has been the tightest Championship in a long time the team has improved and lets get behind them next season where hopefully the squad will have been strengthened and we can push from this point.
And before all the MM haters start calling for his head stop now - lets get some consitency going. Look at Fergie’s first few seasons at Man Yooo they struggled but now 20 years (there abouts) down the line they are the top team.
Lets build for the future. With the possible expansion to a 40,000 seater stadium we are securing a future where we dont need handouts to get promoted - what is the point to run if you can not walk!!

Keep Mick! He’s built the nucleus of a very good championship side and with a few additions over the summer, I’m confident next season we’ll be very strong and should challenge for automatic. There have been some mistakes made this season - defence should have been strengthened with some younger legs, we need a midfielder in the mould of Ince/Rae, a DECENT striker to play with Ebanks Blake and a winger to provide cover for Kightly.
Judge Mick overall on the following three things: 1/ He’s turned the club around from the utter mess he found when he first arrived.
2/ He gave us one of the best seasons in recent memory, out of nothing and on a shoe-string, in 06/07. 3/ The final third of this season has seen a return to some decent football which gives hope for next season.
I think getting rid of him now would be a big mistake. I’m glad Mr Morgan is in charge to make these decisions rather than the more moronic elements of the Wolves fan base who are without doubt some of the most fickle and stupid in the game.

Firstly, I must admit that I’m a Baggies fan; however I agree with U2 Wolf, spending massive amount on a new ground may not be the best thing for the club at the moment. Surly investing in a few new key players and spending whatever is necessary to get the right players and maybe a new manager may be more helpful?

am i blaming you…NO! i feel as a chairman who only came to the club in august and on the back of our over achievement last season, you had to back mick mccarthy, and 7m later and about 15 forwards, i think i speak for many that MM as now managed his last game at the Molineux.
i admire your ambition (new stadium,hotel etc) but please listen to the fans who made your £10 look like a possible bargain (providing you can get the wolves right) and install a mr Paul Ince as new boss, let him bring any staff he requires (but leave Bobby Mimms’s job alone) and back him…..

There wasn’t a penalty at Blackpool but it was irritating to hear they weren’t even trying to score well before the end of the match and they were just playing out time against 10 men for a draw. Anyway we shouldn’t have had to rely on other results. Not sure of my opinion with respect to management for next year but I think Mick is again putting his foot in his mouth if he says we were outstanding this season. If he does stay we do need a radical overhaul of the squad. What will annoy me most is not if we keep MM but if we keep him & we don’t have a major clear out and buy new players.

what we saw today is typical of what we’ll be seeing next season basically..and if kites, blake and couple of others have poor games (and they were poor today) on a regular basis next season..then we’ll do well to finish in 7th.
technically we have one on the largest squads in the division..but so many of them are only average at best, that a major clear out is needed. and we don’t need to shop in the bargain basement for replacements either. we have plenty of young talent already..what we do need are experienced players at championship level with proven quality and ability.. aged around 26 to 29 with plenty more years left in them.
i would like mcarthy replaced but it aint gonna happen..so..just pray mick sees sense in the summer and builds us a team capable of a genuine promotion push, and forgets his old pals and favorites strategy used this season..look at the table mick..it didn’t work.
clear the deadwood..bring in some quality and let’s give it a rite go next season..who knows we could even be waving to the boggies as we pass them..going down..as we go up.

We had chances infront of goal and failed to put them away–A little bored about the FE debate but he played well when he came on-Great support by the crown howevever one or two should be ashamed with some of the abuse shouted at the back of the BW stand-Lot of kids present and they (Shouter’S) were not regular attenders. My worry is that MM does not have the contacts to bring in new players and did he spend the full seven million he had for players?. Collins has obviously been a favorite but frankly he is not up to the standard we need. He and others need to be shown the door–Where are our youngsters we did a lot better last year with them.Should MM go well I think he will go he clearly does not have overall support from the fans.But please if he goes then get someone in before the season starts-Thank to the South Bank to-day the best all season—All supporters have a good holiday–I will be reading the BLOGG relaxing in Malaga earlier this season thanks to to-days result.

Take a look at some of the WBA players who will be discarded now. We need CREATIVITY in midfield. We have the arrow in EB, Keogh and maybe even Freddy but we dob’t have the bow…..
Two defenders of course and a programme of giving the kids a chance to excel. Some investigation into the injuries our players ger. But most important….
Hennesay and Kites and EB to be kept at all costs…,Pay um what they want and smile. beg them for one more year and then if we don’t go up let um go on a free… We will stand no chance again if we lose them - they are quality.

Moxey stated the play offs were the minimum requirement for the season and i have not heard anything different - depsite injuries.
I would go with seeing how the new season goes up to Christmas and then make a decision.
We have a good core to the team:
GK - Hennessey, Murray
Def - Foley, Craddock, Elokobi, Breen + Gray (1 more year maybe?). + Little right back, Jones left back.
Mid - Kightly, Jarvis, Olifinjana, Henry (1 more season!) + Gobern
Fwds - EBBlake, Keogh, Eastwood
The other first teamers can leave for all i care. There is enough there + kids that we should have made the play offs at least.
We do need 2 centre backs, 1 Centre CREATIVE Midfield and a left midfielder/winger - probably a DECENT target man like Kuqi but younger!

We’ve got through quite a few managers in recent times at Molineux. At times the board fire first then think later, however even though I admire what Mick did last season (less so this season), if we did get rid, there are plenty of potentially good replacements out there (Ince, Allardyce, Ferguson (Darren not Alex)). If things are not good at Christmas and we get rid then, maybe the good options will have gone.
If he does stay, then please don’t sign the likes of Darren Ward who was no better and probably a lot worse than Mark Little who hasn’t had a look in this season. Give the young lads a chance, they didn’t let us down last season, but Mick let them down this. Also can we move away from the ‘Jobs for the boys’ option for anyone associated with Sunderland or Ireland.
Looking forward to success in 2009.Please Wolves, learn from the mistakes of this year.

Not one of those who normally posts, but read every day. Have kept my ten penneth out - but, we have missed out on a play off place ON GOAL DIFFERENCE - whilst MM has kept a proven INTERNATIONAL striker either on the bench or at home. If goals were what we required why did he drop a player who scored 4 in 6, Keogh is clearly good, but in the hole behind the two strikers might be better. Wolves have always been succesful when we have had two out and out strikers up front - remember Dougan and Richards - they were successful because they played week in week out together with wingers like Waggy who knew where they wanted the ball - we have the wingers - Jarvis and Kighley, we have the forwards SEB and Eastwood - we need an Emlyn Hughes, Paul Ince or dare I say it Alex Rae in Midfield to drive the youngsters on and raise heads when they begin to drop (which they have at times this season). But most importantly we need three defenders - a pair of centre halves who are not over the hill and too slow and a full back - what a tragedy giving away our best two defenders in years to Everton and Celtic - finances driving the team again (I remember a six million operating loss being cleared by selling Robbie Keane - will we see the same this season with the sale of SEB, Eastwood and our bright young Welsh goal keeper?) Time to take a gamble in the managerial stakes - we’ve done the failed internation managers, Hoddle, Taylor (how could the board bring the man who dropped Bully from the England squad to Molineux?) and now MM. Lets get someone with the will to win, a little flair - Ince has proven a revelation as a manager, if he will accept the apology he is due from the board then lets bring him in - Oh and to those who want Alladyce or Rednapp - it would be just our luck to appoint them just as the corruption investigation looks further into their previous antics - lets keep them away. At least the interest stayed till the last game of the season - but the bitter taste of despair is getting a little monotonous add to that the ire at seeing WBA promoted as champions - the only consolation (if there is one) is that at least its two local teams that have gone up. I wish both Stoke and WBA all the best in the Premiership - there is Derbys’ record to break next season - and maybe , just maybe we can go up as Champions next season, whilst WBA are coming back down!

Although a better performance than at Coventry, this was essentially well below what’ needed A team that, overall lacked psychological preparedness. Indeed the performance evoked the conceitedness and complacency of the manager.
The tactics, today, were so predictable. Not quite the hypnosis of Hoddle but, at times…
Quietly seething, that’s me. To boot sampled the basic hopsitality package at Molineux-kid’s portion of chicken strognaoff. As one person at the table remarked-this is like being in prison. Get me out of here, get me out of the Championship!

I am sorry having witnessed another attritional workmanlike performance of working the channels, without any vision from the centre of midfield it is time for an change. It reminded me of previous MM teams. My mind was made up with regards to MM managerial ability after the managers decision to pick Craddock and Breen as centre halves at Cardiff in the Cup. It was nothing to do with the defenders more to do with the fact that the had both been out for 4-5 months.
May Wolves try to get Ince and have a manager who plays football and recognises more than attrition and workrate. In last seasons team we had a combination of Potter and workrate in midfield now we have workrate and no flair. The only visionary on the pitch today was Eastwood his ability to find space was evident in the only moments of vision.

Its a fine line between success and failure. However, the narrow line on missing out for Wolves today is, in fact, a great big chasm. Simply not good enough! Deficiencies at the heart of the defence have not been rectified all season. Mr Morgan, use your cash wisely and invest in a half decent manager!

Everyone needs to accept the fact that McCarthy will be in charge next season. Some will be pleased with this, some will be dismayed but it is the way it is.
For those of you looking forward to seeing the clubs crop of homegrown players establishing themselves as first team players next season I am afraid to say that 2 of them have expressed there wish to move on in the next transfer window, there identities will be revealed within the next 6 weeks

We have not scored enough goals its simple MM should have played Eastwood on a regular basis and we would not have a problem. However because he is stubborn and arrogant he tried to make Keogh a goal scorer and he isn’t look how many chances he misses.
He should go now and take all his mates with him, we can then move forward.

Stoke City, Hull City, Bristol City have all achieved more with far less resources made available to the manager.
Expect a much tougher division next season with some very well financed clubs exiting the Premiership. What an opportunity missed in the poorest Championship for many years.
Poor performances from Wolves throughout a season littered with some incredulous decision making from the manager both on and off the field. Did he really want away to the far east in the summer I wonder? Maybe Steve Morgan and the board won’t stand in his way next time?

The end of the season and the time which the ever decreasing pro MM camp have demanded that the ‘moaners’ keep their powder dry until.
Well we are not going away although the noises coming out of the clubs management do little to give hope that the lessons have been learnt.
In the final analysis we were miles away from the automatic promotion which this worst division in a decade demanded we deliver.
Not even good enough for the play off lottery with chickens coming home to roost from playing an inept striker on the wing for months, picking players out of loyalty rather than form and worse still buying an effective forward who once again today demonstrated the positive difference he brings to the side and then not playing him.
Regretfully the fools that we are we have paid in advance and this gives the management little incentive to change.If millions were not already banked perhaps the message might get through- it has not been god enough and change is needed.
Mr Morgan, please give us optimism to take on our summer holidays rather than the dread of more of the same. A few extra players as has been suggested by some is not the answer, an able leader is the priority PLEASE.

Well this season hasnt been the best n tbh it has all been down 2 MM descions. Sening craddock on loan not playing eastwood and not makin signings that wouldimpact the club. We have need a creative midfielder for a long time now and without one playin alongside with olofinjana then we r goin nowhere.The defence aswell. i personally think craddock deserves another year in the team sooo sign 2 new centre halfs soo we have gd enough cover 2 replace them. get rid of collins breen n D ward etc they are not gd enough 2 start. I have thought long and hard about MM. I want to like him and believe his managemnet skills are up to the job, then I look at the teams above The Wolves and the reality of it all is becomes apparent - He is just not good enough. Are Stoke, Bristol City, Watford and Crystal Palace better than The Wolves? Do they have better resources? Bigger fan base? Better stadiums? Well it seems to me the answer to all the above is NO. So my conclusion is that we need a younger, hungrier manager that can motivate the team to achieve more. Rosa, Eastwood, Little , D.Jones are just 4 names that I feel deserved to have played. Gibson, Breen, Keogh, N.Collins are 4 names who played too many games. All I can hope is that come next season we will see a new face as manager and as the neucleus is definately there. MM has done a great job since joining the club, would fans rather have Hoddle back? I agree that the club needs more experience in the squad. What Wolves needed at the begining of the season was a goal scorer, it took till jan to get one, in EB. Hopefully MM will get some cash to spend on the squad, the sale of Eastwood which looks likely will bring some to spend. Mr Morgan has got his head switched on, i was only thinking the other day that the ground was too small for this club, and the place does need to be more intimidating aswell. Leeds had 38k for the match this weekend, if wolves could get near that, it would bring in more money for the club and players. Bring on next season, lets all get behind the Club.

Two years ago Jez Moxey publically criticised Glen Hoddle for failing to get us into the play offs after being pre season favourites. So come on Jez lets be consistant ! I was not a Hoddle fan, his conduct towards us was disgraceful but this clown is equally bad. This season has been awful and I now hope Mr Morgan will show consideration towards the fans before we end up doing a Leicester (were they really worse than us ?)

Our summer signings were pretty crap apart from gray, jan signings once again come good apart from Kyle which still makes me laugh that we get him on loan.
Now after the last 10 games we are looking a very good team as in results, so in a way it would be stupid to get rid of Mick because it means rebuilding again getting rid of 10 players and bringing in another 10. He should be given till mid nov and then see where we are in the league and how well we are playing.
The backroom staff all need to go expesh conner who’s going to be here when hes 90.
Mick will defo sell or loan freddy out next season. Mainly we need A PLAYER with EXPERIENCE like ince and irwin.
Best thing to do is to forget how crap we was for most of this season. Look forward to the new season and who knows look what happens to some teams who just miss-out on play-offs one season and the next they win the league.
At least now that we havn’t gone up we won’t be like derby next season.

When we lost to Watford in the first match we got the usual rubbish from Mick about how it was a 46 match season and we should judge him at the end of the season. Okay, I could argue that that defeat alone cost us a play off place, but more importantly if we’d won it the team would have gone into the next few matches with greater confidence and perhaps got a few more points than they did which would have made us contenders for automatic promotion.
His persistence with Elliott and Keogh at the start of the season was a big mistake when neither could score or even hit a barn door. To keep on about them being “different class” was an insult to the other players.
“Resting” Eastwood after the international match when he’d scored something like 5 goals in 4 games was the most stupid decision of the year. If he’d kept playing he’d probably have got 20 by the end of the year. We saw in the last 10 mins today what a good partnership he could form with Ebanks-Blake given the chance.
Sadly, if Mick stays he will probably persist with Keogh. The time has come surely to recognise that he isn’t good enough. He’s too lightweight and he missed yet more good chances today.
We saw yer more poor decisions today. Kightly wasn’t having a good game and Gray should have been brought on half and hour earlier. The way Plymouth packed the defence needed someone big and string in the attack (so that’s Keogh out). Mick brought in Kyle as an “impact” player for just such a situation. He wasn’t even on the bench and we had to rely yet again in the impact of Elliott - about as effective as the impact of a fly on a windscreen.
We fielded the nucleus of a very good team today. With a new central defender to replace Breen (he makes too many crucial mistakes - the free kick against Ipswich was the last in a long line) and a more effective striker than Keogh we have a team that could win the division next year.

Ironic we missed out on GD after scoring so few! I can’t understand why MM, himself a centre half can’t understand the need for a decent centre half to pair JC. Our defence isn’t so great - it’s that the central midfield is so defensive, it offers protection to the defence but nothing offensive. We can’t afford to play SGO and KH together, we need a creative central midfielder - more goals!! At least we have a promising strike pairing now to feed off the supply supply (SEB + AK). Last summer MM didn’t do the business on transfers. I think the board need to consider very carefully the next round of requests. I find it worrying Mick gave contracts to NC, SW and bought DP. These players plainly are not good enough. We need to be careful about accumulating an oversized and underpowered squad. Next season will be crucial to holding on to our best players.

2.Terminate jez moxey contract(time for a change in that department.he winds up far too many paying fans.)
3.Appoint Paul ince as a manager.

6.Start playing M Little,D jones,M davies & gobern next year.

Never, ever, have I had to live with a Wolves manager who insults the fans, draws his £1M a year salary, fails badly, and still expects to be the manager the next year. Many moronic things have happened at Wolves, but surely this is one step too far!
I won’t be here next year if McCarthy is still manager. I did not renew the early-bird, but I will find the money somehow to buy a season ticket if McCarthy goes.

Worst year of football for over a decade. No improvement, worse than last year. Football is a results business, and McCarthy has failed dismally in every sense. Nothing to look forward to next season.
I haven’t renewed my season ticket, first time in 30 years!
Unless Morgan gets rid of McCarthy and the rest of the dross that keep us chained in the Championship, I won’t be back again. 55 years I’ve supported the team, man and boy, best in the world, down to the 4th, but now Morgan, Moxey and McCarthy have finally driven me away. Not good enough for a team that is going somewhere! Obviously, McCarthy has to be sacked immediately, as I doubt that he will have the decency to resign. But I must say that this is the most un-enjoyable season that I ever experienced. Even under the Bhatties there was more fun than watching this dire McCarthy type of football.
This is football, without the ball! Just running for its own sake. Put in a shift. Don’t do pansy things like scoring goals!
This is supposed to be the beautiful game. McCarthy has created his own ugly version, which I hope that I don’t have to watch again next season.

VERY DISAPPOINTED.
Based on what I have read (that’s the only way I can get my info) on this and other websites, it seems we didn’t have the wherewithal when our destiny was in our own hands after the WBA match.
During those last 4 games we can, in hindsight of course, point to a few destiny changing moments, namely:-
1. Mick’s decision to change to a defensive midfield when winning 3-0 against Cardiff instead of pushing on to score more precious goals. Several bloggers commented on this at the time.
2. The biggest moment was Ipswich’s last minute equaliser 4 days later.
3. Schmeichel’s last minute save at Coventry to deny us a win.
4. The disgusting result against Plymouth today where in 90 minutes we only had one shot on target and that was the goal. The pressure WAS on us (despite Mick’s comments to the contrary). At start of play we needed to score 3 goals as long as Watford didn’t win, only 2 goals if they lost, and we were sorely lacking in ability to achieve this on the day. ONE shot on target is a terrible result in any game but it is a crime in such a crucial game.
We can also look back to other last minute goals and a couple of missed penalties earlier in the season but in the final analysis we just didn’t have the bottle.
Sometime ago I posted a blog predicting Wolves would end up with 71 points. If only I was right but I was very close (no cigar). Having slagged the Wolves for their performance today, I would still like to add my thanks to the team and the manager for trying even though they both didn’t have the wherewithal to make it.
Now there is only transfer news to look forward to. I for one am happy to admit that at this moment I would gladly swap places with the Baggies but never be happy to be a WBA supporter.

There are many who post comments on this board and to mention a few, quality counts, Dingle Dan, Welsh John, Derby Wolf, wolvesnuf….I could go on and on with people (not fans of Wolves) who, week in and week out do nothing but criticize MM and the team. Steve Morgan wants us up there within 4 years and we will achieve this. We have the most promising young squad of players ever at Molineux and they will inevitably get better. The trouble is, that you lot want instant success. That’s not going to happen. Players will go in the summer and only MM and his back up team know who those will be. We have the likes of mark dvies, Dan Jones, Mark Little and many more kids coming through the ranks and will be more than capaable of filling in next season when the injuries start to happen. We are going to strengthen the squad in the summer and I’m sure that will be for our shoddy defence. having said that we have kept 19 clean sheets this season. Our trouble was that we didn’t score enough prior to SEB’s arrival. We can now look forward to a 20+ goal a season striker, coupled with Keogh and maybe even Eastwood. Last season was a bit of a fluke. Our current squad will learn from their mistakes (let’s not forget they are a young squad) and push on next season. We will do it providing we all pull together.
MM is here to stay whether you lot like it or not. So if you cannot accept that fact then go on and support another team. We at Wolves do not want you.

Lack of goals from eastwood, would have been useful if he had actually had a chance to play more often ! Today he was excellent when he came on.
Generally the season was a great dissappointment - why MM with his team selection, tactics and favourites ! We should have won this league at a canter. I have watched many managers at Molineux starting with Ronnie Allen, good ones, bad ones some indifferent but this guy takes the proverbial biscuit. The arrogance of the guy is astounding !

What’s this about building a more ‘intimidating’ stadium? What’s going to be intimidating about a half empty stadium? Our season hung by a thread going into the Cardiff game, and we got 20,000 through the door.
You tend to find the most intimidating grounds are those tight packed ones in the lower leagues. I am not even sure how you go about designing one of these. A half empty stadium ringing of boo’s. Sounds like pleasant place to visit as an away team.

I didnt think he was the best choice for the job but he had my support from the day he got it. I have never sat at a game booing or calling for his head, but the season is over and it is time they made a decision.
The injuries have hurt us, but every club deals with injuries. Compare our squad with those of Bristol, Hull, Stoke. There’s more quality at the Wolves than these 3 put together but who is in the play-offs.
You can’t spend that much money with so much quality at your disposal and justify finishing 7th.

We had 19 years outside the top flight and when we finally got there the team were sold short by the then owner. Do we have to wait another 19 years before we get there again? None of us are getting any younger and a lot of us will be dead by then! And the board demands patience from the fans!! A three year plan they say! Did Gary Megson need a three year plan to transform Tesco City from a bunch of no hopers into automatic promotion material? Did Roy Keane with Sunderland? Did Paul Jewell with Wigan (and Bradford)? This club is finished. It’s washed up, it’s dead. I’ve been a supporter for 32 years, a season ticket holder for 8 years and my daughter with me for 6 years, but we have not renewed for next year, nor do we intend to.

Living so far away in sunny Queensland & not being able to attend matches as I did through the late 60’s through to the early 90’s, so I hope you all think I am qualified to post on here. I guess you guys who attend the games each week see what many don’t. I read these posts daily & have done for some time. Our season collapsed from November (after the 0-0 draw with the Baggies) through to March. We had our customary disasterous Xmas. No strengthening the CB positions, no replacement winger for Michael Kightly….yeah,yeah we have heard all before. The problem is guys (Mr Morgan please note) Derby County are coming down with 62 million pounds in the back pocket & 2 others from 6 (B’ham, Reading, Fulham, Bolton, Sunderland or Middlesborough) with a similar amount of Premiership Cash. Competition is going to be real tough next season with Charlton, Sheff Utd, QPR, Southampton, Coventry, Ipswich, (Crystal Palace & Watford if they don’t make it in the play offs). I believe Hull City & Bristol City will be one season wonders if they don’t make ot & lets not forget Leeds Utd may also be back. Perhaps they should rename the CC Championship to the Premier League 2, there are enough Football Clubs in there who are worthy. If you look at the Managerial tenure of MM it really has been a shambles this season, team selection, purchases, no academy players hardly used. What trophies are listed on his CV? I cant think of one apart from CC Championship with his beloved Sunderland. I don’t believe in manager changes for the sake of change but he really has had his chance with Steve Morgans cash. We need a bright, vibrant young manager who is an absolute winner, who has won many medals & trophies in his time. One who has worked under some winning managers during his playing days at West Ham, Man Utd, Inter Milan & Liverpool. Yes people we all know, please step up Paul Ince. Moxey swallow your pride, talk to Steve Morgan, make a public apology to Incey & take ownership of the mistake not to appoint Paul in the first instance. Bring in your own backroom staff Paul. Hate to say I told you so but my pre-season post predicted slightly lower than playoff spots. I didnt think we would make 7th.
3 points to make;
1. You wont’ get out this league with Craddock and Breen at the back.
2. Yes, it was a weaker championship than normal. The only truly decent side in it was Albion, much as I hate to admit that.
3. MM needs to go because of point no.1, any manager who cannot see that doesnt need to be down the Mol.

The only thing that I felt yesterday was anger. Eastwood to me was the star turn. He provided the goal and some of his passing was superb. Everytime he got the ball you felt something was going to happen.
With Eastwood and SEB up front you’d have a couple of strikers to strike fear into the opposition. But there again I’m not Mick McCarthy and Eastwood will be leaving soon. What a travesty and I can feel just anger that the missing link has spent most of the season on the bench (or not even on the bench) and not in the team.
For once I had to leave the match at the final whistle I couldn’t stomach the words of Morgan. This season was a missed opportunity. I’ve never booed my team and I don’t intend to now. My anger is directed towards Mick McCarthy and in part Moxey & Co for letting this carry on. To me yesterday was like a stroll in the park at times.
When teams like Stoke, Hull and Bristol City can finish higher than us how can anyone be happy. And I’m not a moaner I care passionately about the club. After visiting the Dons on Saturday I could easily have swapped allegiences but no, my heart will always be with Wolves.
The Board aren’t going to sack Mick McCarthy and I am going next season but if things don’t drastically improve my protests and I guess others who have been silent in the past will become more vocal. This manager, if he ain’t leaving, needs a good kicking up the backside. He’s totally arrogant and now believes he is untouchable. Automatical placing next season, nothing less will do and at least top six all the way through the season with entertaining football.

I am all for stability and building but with some obvious traits that cannot be considered good for a manager (favourites) and some signings that have proven to be very questionable, there will need to be some careful thinking over the next two months as to where this club wants to go. With the squad we have we should have been in the top 2 all season long - yet most of the time we were looking no where near good enough to suggest that we have any right to expect to play in the Premier League ever again. Yes we have a core of good players but we need to get the young ones out there every week, we need to clear out what has consistently proven to be a rubbish collection of forwards (Sylvan alone could hold his head high although Keogh was not too bad in the latter part of the season) and bolster a shaky midfield. Give Mad Mick another season? I will take convincing on that one. Perhaps we need to get used to the diea that the Championship is where we belong?

if mr morgan plans to build us a super stadium would it not be advisable to have a super team first,we have been very average this season and to me the blame lies firmly with the so called manager and his side man conner,between them they have managed to bore the supporters with average displays both home and away,mr morgan should act now,the inquest when mm goes into the meeting with morgam and moxey should be that he has under achieved badly having been given money in the jan transfer window to strengthen the side,the defence was not sorted in the close season nor jan so to me that has to be explained,he should do the honourable thing and resign,has he has not done for the club what he said he could do and that was to start with auto promotion,than the play offs then last but not least it would not be the end of the world if we do not go up this season!!!!!!!!! what sort of manager is he,in my mind roy keane was spot on with his comments re mm when he was manger of ireland and we are now seeing the man who promises so much but achieves so little,i hope i do not have to travel 120 miles round trip next season to watch the same football as this time and a new manager,coach etc would be welcome.

Since the inquest now begins, I thought I’d add my thoughts on how we failed to build on a hugely promising 2006/07 campaign with some of what I believe were defining moments/key issues:
1) The transfer activity before the season started was very poor. The purchase of Darren Ward (and subsequent loaning out of Craddock to a side that gained automatic promotion) and replacing McIndoe with Jarvis (which may still work out longer-term) were examples of a clear failure to strengthen the squad. As has been the problem on plenty of other occasions in recent seasons, the manager seems to forget that if you fill your team with average championship quality players you end up with an average championship quality side.
2) The treatment of Eastwood was shambolic. Whether people are a Freddy fan or not, the manager created a divide between him and a large number of fans, and seemed intent of widening it at every opportunity.
3) Having relied on youth players in 06/07, he totally ignored them this season. What must Dan Jones be thinking following his recall from Northampton, for example? 18 minutes as sub vs Sheff Wed and then back on loan again. However, Mick was prepared to gamble on an untried youth player from Man Utd. What message does that send out to our youth players?
4) Team selection was quite bizarre, especially early on in the season. Playing two holding midfielders in front of the back four did lead to a lot of clean sheets but was ultimately our downfall given the lack of goals scored.
5) Based on what we saw on the pitch, Mick seemed to lack the ability to motivate players. The up-tempo style of 06/07 was replaced, on the whole, with a complete lack of urgency.
6) The injury to Kights was the turning point of the season. However, the decision not to change the style to suit the players led to everyone bar the tea lady playing (and being largely ineffective) at right wing; particularly when still playing the two holding midfielders.
7) The purchase of SEB in January was probably the highlight of the year. Finally, a player that is a natural goalscorer (and our first consistent penalty taker since Tommo!). After all of his transfers, we potentially now have 3 premiership quality players (Kights - scouted by Taff Evans and Henno, through the youth set-up).
9) Complete lack of consistency in terms of team selection and results. Our best run of league wins was three - only achieved once. We claimed 7 points from the 36 available against the six sides above us, winning only once, and scoring only six goals in those 12 games. Bemoan luck all you like Mick, these stats don’t lie.
So, let’s hope Freddy gets his chance somewhere else and he can end his Mick-imposed nightmare. Let’s hope that we are true to our word and start the season with SEB, Kights and Henno still on our books. Let’s hope we sign above-average championship players and get rid of some of the below-average players. Let’s hope we change our style of football - last year was boring and sub-standard.

I think everyone needs to calm down and take a step back.Has it really been that bad of a two years?Look at the state we were in when hoddle left and look at the team now.Many may argue we are no better off but thats clearly wrong.We are young,hungry and strong now and have the financial clout to compete with most teams in our division (bar the 3 that come down).
Yes MM has made some bad choices and i even admit at times his decisions and tactical choices and constant leaving out of players has left me scratching my head BUT…i still think hes the man for the job.We have constantly made the mistake of getting rid of our managers before they ‘peak’ so to speak. We give them 2 seasons and then let them go and it just doesnt work. All im saying at the end of the day is that we should get behind our boys and support them to the end. As long as we lose no players in the summer and build on what we have (with 2 central defenders a MUST) then we have the nucleus of a very good team to challenge for automatic next year….Hopefully.

So, we averaged over 2.03 points a game against the bottom 15 sides. We averaged 0.56 against the top 9 sides.
Mick - Your style of football (tactics/team selction or whatever) generally works against the poor sides. It fails miserably against better sides which was our downfall this season.

This has been a poor season for Wolves with some very poor performances on the field and some bad mistakes off it. Overly it has been very, very disappointing for us fans because both the management and ourselves built up great expectations for this year. However some of the points being made by supporters need clarification.
1. MM did say it would take at least three years to build a successful team and his two first years have not been statistically bad. Many of the players who performed well in 2006/07 have not performed at the same level this year. A number of the younger players have been unfit for long periods and the others lacked experience. Perhaps Mick’s greatest problem is loyalty to players who believes in, are either past it or simply not performing. This is quite a common trait among managers but not really successful ones.
2. Mr Morgan, when speaking about a new stadium, is talking in terms of a 10 year plan not a short term one. This gives time to build a sustainable club with strength in all departments including backroom staff, up and coming young players as well as a strong first team squad.
Patience is a virtue in very short supply particularly when so many of us believe that we a Premier club who are simply under performing by employing the wrong people. The reality is that that despite the Hayward and Morgan millions we are some way short of this gaol.
Good look for next season let’s hope it brings bright winning football that is a joy to watch and produces the results we all crave. Nothing succeeds like success.

Why is it everyone keeps saying we have young players they need to be given time do you really think young players are going to get us promoted next season ? WBA their average age of their squad ? and stoke city ? i just cant see our side getting promoted next season if we are still basing it on players still learning their trade. me personaly i think mcarthy is making a huge mess. We had eastwood any other side in the championship would have him playing week in week out! cant morgan see this, two top managers who sore this a long time ago and made it public coleman and toshack and now warnock looks very interested in signing him. i cant say what i’m going to do next season until the summer passes.

It is time for McCarthy to go he took us backwards this season because he is not the sort of intelligent progressive coach who can build a squad and successful team. He lucks out occasionally with the odd transfer (Kightly, Blake) but the failures (Eastwood, Elliot, Ward) have far outweighed those signings and led to the squad being bigger but performing worse.
Paul Ince is winning things in style and showing signs of the intelligent progressive coaching we require.

So history is going to repeat itself. Mr Morgan seems set to embark upon redevelopment while it’s the playing side where the focus should be.
If memory serves then automatic promotion was the realistic target and the playoffs a minimum requirement from this season. In the cold light of day Mick McCarthy has failed to correct the areas of weakness and should now go with our thanks having rescued Wolves from the wreckage left by Hoddle.

Yes, when Hoddle(thankfully) slid away and we had sold Lescott et.al Wolves were actually looking only like relegation candidates. Mick McCarthy saved us last season and once again provided the usual, and often unwarranted, expectation of promotion in 2008/2009. I think that he has deserved a chance to build a team but unfortunately this season I haven’t seen one single performance which showed the promise of future strength or the ability to dominate an opposition. There are individual bright performances - Keightley cannot be faulted neither can Hennessey, Grey, Foley, SEB, and a few others have had some very good games and looked exciting and skillful, however our defence has not been strong enough to allow a creative midfield to provide a platform for the strikers. The MM work ethic of covering back has been too often a necessity which has blunted any hopes of our strikers pressurising the opposition.Most seasons will see the teams that achieve automatic promotion do so on the back of a very niggardly defence, but more to the point that kind of defensive solidity allows the rest of the team to play to their strengths. We have a very young squad, which may account for the somewhat immature performances this season, in which case we have every right to expect some of the undoubted talent to come through next year, however I am very uncertain as to whether the tactics and training have served to make the most of strengths or have sought to minimise the weaknesses of our squad. Much of the football has been formulaic and pedestrian with occasional flurries of effort which have usually almost but not quite resulted in goals.
It is quite possible that a fresh and creative approach is needed, both on the training pitch and during matches, or on the other hand it may be that in fact we start the next season with a bunch of more mature and stronger youngsters, a few signings in defence and midfield to add class, pace and maturity plus hopefully some authoritative direction on the pitch. The alternative gamble is that we have to start all over again with the season a few weeks old and our next messiah parachuted in to make an immediate and dramatic difference.
I think that MM is a good and decent bloke who deserves a real chance to build a Championship winning side, whether he has had that chance is another matter. Paul Ince could be a fantastic choice as an alternative, likewise Richard Money ? Dave Jones dismissal was shameful - he did the business and was then let down by the club. Will someone please tell us what the hell the Freddie saga has been about ??
Steve Morgan has some serious decisions to make, how he can be criticised for his contribution thiu far ?? We could have had Milan Manderic !

My final comment. Last September, 2-0 up against Norwich. Second half, Norwich down to 9 men. Remember what happened ? We play “keep ball” in our own half with all the morons cheering every pass. Mick asked for three seasons and if we get a new man in he will say the same and completely change the players ect. Mick needs his third season and if we can keep Kightly, Jarvis and Ebanks-Blake fit for 90% of the season then we should be close to an automatic stop. I think if we spend £6m-£7m on 3-4 players it should add the quality that we have been lacking and next year we could be champions! Also we will have the added satisfaction of watching Albion lose every week!

Mick has made some bad errors this year, with personnel he has bought, played and how he has handled them. He has also made some great purchases, SEB, Jarvis and Kightly to name a few. I believe that with a little more luck with injuries, Kites out since Nove, Jarvis not fully fit until last ten games, Davies, Gobern out all season etc we would have got the extra goals or points we needed for second place never mind the play-offs.
However, the football this year has been of a lower standard than last year and the infamous ‘Patience’ of Wolves fans is now wearing thin. I personally would like Mick to continue his building of a young hungry team, but he needs to be bold and accept his mistakes. We need more 8/10 players like Kites SEB and Hennesey and need to get rid of the 6/10 players we have who,(whilst you cannot fault there work ethic), do not enough the quality we need to take us to the next stage. Players like Elliot, Potter, Ward x2, Collins. Be bold Mick and raise the bar and im sure you will lead us to the promised land. If not and Christmas time we could be having another manager, and that for me would be a waste. The summer building will be watche dwith eager anticipation. Good Luck Wolves.

Mick McCarthy has spent £7.5M since he has been in charge, double the amount Dave Jones had to spend to stay in the Premier League. There is no excuse for saying he wasn’t given a fair shout.
Players of the calibre of Elliot, Kyle might have been good players of the past, but, you can’t have the reputation of the past dictate your decisions of the present or future. That is where MM is getting it totally wrong. Sadly, MM has to leave this club, but he is too proud and stubborn to do what is good for the club, again, he is thinking about what is good for himself. I mean think of the difference a player like Jay-Jay Okocha would have made? Good enough for the one season to get us promoted. Problem is I can only see players like this coming to Wolves if Ince or someone else was in charge, giving them the freedom to play their natural game (sadly, we will never see the true potential of Eastwood. Flair players do what is best, not the “put a shift” in. That is not what these players do or what us fans pay our money to watch.
We need to change managers to reflect on the growing trend of managers who know what todays game is about, not what “yesterday’s” games were about.

Give MM his third season, see how things pan out and then take it from there. MM is a victim of his own success from the 1st season and that ain’t his fault, everyone realistically knows we over achieved last year!!!
Everyone is frustrated, that’s understandable,but don’t let your heart rule your heads. We are heading in the right direction, another change of manager at such a crucial time is not the way forward.

The point that seems to have been missed by Steve Morgan is that MM has had 2 attempts at promotion in 2 seasons - One season with little or no money and the next with a 7m kitty
First attempt - resulted in failure and the second same result but did not qualify for Play Offs
So what happens - MM is given a 3rd chance to get it right?
MM has proven that he could not care less whether he offends players or the fans - does this man not realise that the fans pay his wages and without them there would not be a club? (Last game of the season and Mr Arrogant cant be bothered to show the fans (Nuggets) his appreciation
More importantly, this season was probably the best opportunity at promotion - we should have learned lessons from the previous season as to our defence etc but did we?
Next season - we will be up against a well funded QPR, and 3 teams that will be dropping into the Championship with funding to make a solid charge at the league - not to mention teams that just “missed out” on the Play Offs
Does anyone really think that MM has the nouse, tactics or abillity to make a Top 2 position? Or are his tactics as dour as his pre and after match talk?
Could MM or JM attract players at a higher level? Or are we just kidding ourselves and MM and Moxey are very “comfortable” with themselves and its really down to the “united front” that MM and JM have maintained all season that keeps them both in a job?

I’m amazed that some people are saying that the team has improved and we missed it by a whisker and things of that nature.
I missed the first half of the season as I was in Afghanistan and I couldn’t understand how many of the fans seemed to have lost faith in MM when I got back.
I do now though, as having watched the games since 1st Jan, we don’t look a patch on the hungry team we were last year. Our defence looks shaky despite 19 clean sheets, the midfield looks to lack quality and only now are we seeing a decent forward line emerging.
Yes there have been injuries, but all teams have those. We have to look at the teams above us like Hull, Bristol and Stoke with smaller squads and fewer resources. Should they really be finishing ahead of us and playing better football at the same time?
Because let’s face it, the football we have watched hasn’t been good and the opposition at times has been awful, yet we have still struggled to beat teams.
I thought we made a mistake getting rid of some managers too soon, Dave Jones and Graham Taylor for example, but were right with Hoddle and McGhee. I think MM should be leaving to make way for Paul Ince or Darren Ferguson.
I won’t be buying another season ticket while MM is in charge, as much as he is straight talking down to earth guy, he really doesn’t know what he is doing.

i do not particular want to come on here gloating however the number of wolves fans having a go at us because weve just won the league and scored more than anyone else seems like very very sour grapes, so what if we come back down we will still be in a very strong position, however you have a major major fight on your hands to even get out of the league next year with qpr, derby and probably blues all being very strong maybe you should debate this a bit more and the fact you have two of the worst players in the league in collins and ward who have played far far to many games for you and shouldnt be wearing a wolves shirt, surely you should debate things like this rather than having a go at us!

Was at the game yesterday. there was no booing and the crowd were really behind the team, but understandably got nervous as the game went on without a goal. For me and other fans around me, we played possession football, with no cutting edge.We were shotshy in front of goal for a team which knew it had to win by 3 goals.Kightly wassnt match fit,SEB hold up play was poor and really needs working on.Keogh was ineffective on only when Eastwood come on did we really look like scoring.
the body language from some of the players when he came on suggests he’s not a favourite in the camp.Many did not pass to him when he was in open space, and i think without a new manager it best for him to move on.
IF MM stays he needs to get a quality central defender with pace, and a creative midfielder, who can really pass a ball. He needs to think about changing his formation. Guys like Rosa, little have been ignored when the likes of potter, gibson, collins,elliot have played.
MM has too many favourites. one last point its performances on the field that count not in training, alone, just look at matt le tissier, trevor brooking,ledley king,who were poor off field to be fair or could not train.

The team is not strong enough, this league was the weakest for many years, Stoke city gaining automatic promotion proves that! Unless they spend a massive amount, they will be lucky to overhaul Derby Countys thrilling points total.
If you are going to compete rather than exist in the premiership any team being promoted would need to blow away all comers in the championship and win the title in style. We need to build that team around the few talented players we already have. I dont think MM is the man and his comments prior to the final game were badly timed and tells us just how poor a man manager he is.
If you want the Premiership you gotta pay for the talent on and off the pitch. Wolves has the following, 40,000 week in week out is easily achievable if the team is performing. We used to be one of the greats a MU or Liverpool of our time and can be again with the right investment.
Come on Mr Morgan put in the investment and watch it grow or spend a little and watch it GO! Congrats to WBA and Good Luck in the prem unfortunately you may need it.

We need 2 quality centre halves with a bit of pace 1 playmaking midfielder but don,t forget mark davies is due back soon if mm plays him some good cover for the flanks and another striker to go alongside seb who,s going to score 20plus goals a season keoughs goal ratio this season has been very poor.Eastwood is a proven goalscorer and over 90mins he would of proved so i would of played keough as a supersub bit of pace last 20 25 mins its obvious though our poor defence and lack of goals has killed this season mm needs a tactician alongside him and not someone as second rate as terry conner.Lets get behind the boys for next season UP THE WOLVES

You cannot criticise Moron Morgan for his contribution as he didn’t make one! This was the season to a great extent was forseen based on the preseason and the first few games…never was an upside. The twaddle about “better next season” is a groundless statement.
Players will be sold, keep the team in the black and again I foresee a middle of the league finish.
To make this a better team we need a better manager and quality players. Neither of which will happen with Moxey there. Won’t spend money as we have seen for years and happy to keep clueless Mickey Mouse who will not demand the players we need to succeed.
IF I see changes then I will indeed be happy to have a more cheery atitude. Right now it all a waste of time. Roll on the excitement of getting to play Ipswich and Coventry and ooohh Derby!

OK so we missed out by the smallest margin possible from the play-offs. I do not think we would have beaten either Hull or Palace anyway. As yet I have not seen anyone commenting on the fact that Tesco’s won with the smallest number of points since the early 1980’s. So not such a great performance then more a reflection on the poor overall quality in the division. However it aurgers badly on Sandwell’s chances of staying up.
My gut feeling is that Mr.Morgan will put up the nesessary funds to achieve promotion automatically next season. Look at his history, he is not a man who has ever failed in anything he has set out to do. MM stays or goes not the point the players win games. Go back to Plymouth, pinch their two Hungarian’s midfielder and center-half.Job done!

Time to take stock.
Look at what we have and what we need.
Elokobi needs refining and could be put in the centre, leaving DJ at the left back position.
D Edwards can run thechannel in front of the C halfs, I hope Fred will stay and try and build a partnership with SEB.
To come back M Davies, Gobern Little.
If we believe in these guys and a couple of experienced players then the tide will turn.
Dont think we have money to burn or you will believe we deserve to be somewhere we shouldn’t.
Injuries did us this year and maybe a few decisions by management did not help.
We should not be scared of any team coming down and only Sheff Utd can be better than they were this year.

Buy a very experienced midfield ‘leader’ who has quality and premiership experience.
Two defenders who model them on Stokes players. Big, brutish and unyielding but bloody fast.
EB to lose a stone over the summer.
Keogh to spend the time learning how to shoot accurately.
Kites, Hennesay to be given premiership contracts to keep them. Indeed promise them a cheapish transfer at the end of next season if we don’t go up.
The kids to have decent workouts in the friendlies to see if they could make it.
Freddy to be allowed to leave but NOT to a championship side and definately not to Coventry. He will come back to haunt us and I wouldn’t blame him.
let Oli go and preferably to walsall. I cannot believe a premiership club would want him.
Clear out some of the lesser souls but try and get players with premiership experience…
We will have to be better next year than this just to get 7th. Morgan should forget about the new ground until we haVE A VERY COMPETITIVE TEAM. I remember a new stand nearly destroying the club…
As for Mick ……give him to Xmas. if we are challenging then fine but if not….
Finally, lets face it. it’s more fun in the championship. we will win more games, have happier saturday evenings and the dog won’t get kicked half so often.(We’ll probably talk more to the wife as well)

MM aint good enough as quite alot of the team isn’t. The players i would keep is:Hennessey Keogh ebanks blake eastwood kightly olifinjana craddock elokobi henry edwards(both gleeson gobern davies and daniel jones. All the rest get rid they are no good and take mick mcarthy with them.

Bottom line - we were not good enough to get promotion this season. We do need a mix of youth and energetic older players. The lads played better away from home and is it any wonder the way a minority of the home fans behaved. Mick McCarthy is a good manager and things were looking good until the team were hit with injury and Taff moved ‘upstairs’ It is easy to blame the manager but coach Terry Connor and fitness coach Tony Daley should be moved on. We need to get in possibly 5 new players over the summer with the likes of Keogh going out on loan to improve his strike rate. Look how the team benefitted from Wayne Hennessey going out to Stockport. How many more points would Wolves have lost without him in goal. A well deserved PFA and player of the season award winner. Unless supports get off their backsides and support the team week in week out they should keep their comments to themselves. Stop living in the past, those were the days, get real and accept we are where we are and support Mick and the lads next season. A positive start with automatic promotion as the target. Well said on Monday, Steve Morgan. The team will need your investment and so will the stadium. The Steve Bull stand is looking very tired and it so obvious an elevated area for our disabled supporters is needed as everytime it rains, they get soaking wet. Let us all stop comparing ourselves with that lot down the road, if you are one of those supporters,then bugger off and go and support Sandwell Town. Only real supporters are welcome at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Don’t panic.MM saved us from relegation. All we need is few very good signings of palyers who are committed to improve their careers through wolves.We can not change manager every year. mick is incapable of changing his tactis and too arrogant and stubborn to admit he is wrong. Bearing that in mind, and with freddy en route to punish us next season, and a bumbling back four to leak in goals it is a certainty that we will go nowhere again next season.
a poll on one of these pages asks if we will win Automatic, and a (not suprsing) 80% of people are under no delusion, that under mick mccarthy’s reig we wil struggle to even make playoffs. I am baffled however by a mysterious 20% who think this incompetant manager would get us up in font of Birmingham, Reading, or even Derby…

I’ve commented a few times that Wolves should stick with MM this season as I thought he would get you in the play offs at least, even though his style of football is as dull as dishwater. He hasn’t and the time to make decisions is now. Do Wolves fans really want to go through all that again next season? I think not. I could imagine giving a manager time when you can see some development, some excitement, but the guy is too set in his boring ways to change. If I was a Wolves fan I’d want to get someone with fresh ideas, brighten the place up. An up and coming manager could transorm the place. Paul Ince seems ideal.

Mac must go. We will NEVER get promotion with him in charge because of his negatve tactics. The football is boring to watch because his team gets one nil up against even the poorest teams and its sit back and defend to hold the one goal we have. We have spent millions on forwards but we dont attack so dont blame the forwards. Sideways, bacwards, sideways,backwards…….. not the way to get out of this division. Goal differnce over one season, us 5 the champions 35. Bit of a difference and the lost 11 we lost 12.

I really do fear for next season.I hope I am mistaken but MM seems to think we are not far off from getting promotion.He is living in dreamland.But the big beef I have got is the lack of entertainment given to the fans this year together with the low number of goals.I heard Tony Mowbrey being interviewed and he said teams have a duty to entertain the fans.This fact seems to have escaped MM and the powers that be.This story about the stadium etc is the same old Wolves ie jam tomorrow!!.Mr Morgan needs to start wielding the axe and quickly.

We are all fed up of the same old excuses.If we keep him we will be in the same position next year - constant underachievers. 4-4-2 against a team playing 4-5-1 at Molineux when we need to score goals - What a joke. He has brought in some good players, but for every good one there is a dud one too. We need fresh ideas. His team selection, positional play and tatics are appalling. Our best central defensive pairing this season was Breen and Craddock, who he split up and spent money on poor replacements. Freddy Eastwood is quite simply one of the best players in the squad and if MM cannot put aside any personnal issues he may have with him for the good of the club (who are paying him to do so), he does not have the club’s interests at heart. Freddy must stay or we will regret it in the future. So come on Mr Morgan show us your bottle, sack MM, keep Freddy, splash the cash backing a new manager and let’s go forward. By the way who the hell is Terry Connor, what are his qualifications? Sack the lot. If MM thinks it is acceptable to not walk around the pitch and thank the supporters who pay his wage I suggest he takes one long walk North and not look back. It is nothing short of an absolute disgrace and insult to all Wolves fans. I can only hope he knows he is on his way. Lets look to the future - UP THE WOLVES. (Stoke and Albion to come straight back down, hopefully)

I think Eastwood playing in the “pocket” behind the front two would cause great issues for next seasons defences, I dont think Mick should go, however next season will be his last if we dont go up. Morgan said at teh outset, stabilty is key, sacking a manager after a season and a half, although, not quite a Manderic type of unstability would be sending out the wrong message..

I completely agree with the decision to build a 40,000 capacity stadium and I think we need a new manager too to restore the optimism that has been squeezed out of the supporters in the last year as it has for many seasons over the last twenty years.
Wolves need to set their sights on being the top team in the midlands - at the moment we are not even the top team in the black country.
When the team broke up two years ago we could have done what Mowbray did and build a team to be ready for the next year. Instead we opted for the lower cost option of getting in young players from the lower leagues. If we keep this team together for a year or two it MIGHT turn out to be good enough. Isn’t the likely scenario that the likes of Hennessey, Kightly and Ebanks Blake will move on before we get to the premier league and we will have to start all over again?
We already have question marks over players like Keogh, Potter, Olifinjana and Henry that were not there a year ago so who is to say the other prospects will move on in the way we hope.
Jam tomorrow is what has been promised at Molineux for over 20 years and a long term plan is a nice theory but doesn’t work in this game. You have to build to get progress every year and this last year Wolves haven’t progressed as team or as a club. Take away Ebanks Blake and I think we have gone backwards.
So lets move on from MM and Moxey and lets get hungry for success NOW and not live on false promises.
Incey has been successful from the word go in saving Macclesfield and getting Milton Keynes promoted and thats cause he wants success now not tomorrow. Anyone that says this ex Man Utd, Liverpool, England and Milan guy won’t do it when he moves on to a bigger club are talking rubbish. He will know what it takes and he has been sensible learning his new trade at the lower end of the league. His next job will be at a big club and I reckon we will need to get him now or never.

I think there are couple of things that need to be done over this summer for next season:
1. Get rid of mcarthy.
2.Bring in ince or martin jol for manager.
3. Get rid of all back 4 except for elekobi and craddock.
4. Get rid of bothroyd elliot and ward.
5. Make sure no players except for the ones above go.
6. Make sure the younger players eg gleeson davies play.
7. Get in another centre midfielder.
8. Get rid of olifinjana.
9. Get another forward.
10.Get a whole new defence including elokobi craddock.

What i can not understand why MM brought in fredy eastwood who is a proven goal scorer and did not play him. If MM has personal issues he should put them to oneside as wolves football club is far more important you should always play your best side. We need to get rid of terry connor and bring in some backroom staff with good coaching ideas.

Mick has had money and wasted it by not playing a talented striker who could have made the difference to our season and buying sunderland castoffs who got regular play with very little contribution to our cause , that and negative tactics all season ,mind boggling team selection and positions. How many seasons did it take Roy Keane to take sunderland up and then keep them up ,and even at that he is not happy and wants better next season, thats a manager with drive and ambition ,what do we have and what can we expect next season ,more of the same for a good guess, is that what you really want Steve Morgan.

It’s sad to see Wolves so determinedly under-achieve yet again this season, as I would much prefer the continued presence of keenly contested Wolves-WBA “derby” matches…
As has been commented earlier however, there will be a number of clubs with arguably significantly better finance, tactically aware and competent managers, and more skillful squads to compete with in the Championship next season…

First, I think it likely that MM will still be manager at the start of next season…
Second, I would not see Ince as regarding Wolves as the most practicable stepping-stone to his career whilst Moxey is still in place…
Third, the younger Ferguson would probably be regarded as an attractive potential prospect, though views may differ as to whether he would yet be equipped to be in charge of team matters at a club that will be likely to have a very “challenging” time next season…
Fourth, I do not see “Big Sam” viewing Wolves as an appropriate opportunity to resume his managerial career…
All in all, I cannot see much likelihood of Wolves either being able to make an unreservedly sound managerial alternative to MM, or (to be honest) of Wolves having the ambition and courage to chase down a “Tony Mowbray” type of candidate…

Being stubborn is not how you will get your team into the premiership. Freddy hasnt had a chance to play football for the first team start up since boxing day now and cant show what he is capable of. Why not try him with Ebanks Blake. But with MM there is no chance of us gettin anywhere, a new manager can try different ways and will play what he thinks best u dont put a good striker on the bench when he can clearly score goals. Come on get some sence here. Freddy shouldnt leave, sorry its the manager that should go this time!

Yorkie Bar Mcarthy is a hopeless mananger.
He bought 9 strikers and struggled for goals, he blamed the atmosphere the expectations, the fans, the ref, he has excuses coming out of his ears.
I have seen every game - cant remember being entertained at all this season- bored by it all, crazy tactics baffling team selections, poor defence 1.6 mil of striker wasting time bench warming, Rosa scoring for fun in the reserves not even making the 16, the list goes on and on
Im startled by the blind faith that some Wolves fans have. Stickiing with MM (the stuborn one) will see Wolves remain as they are now a poor side in a poor division.
I didnt renew this year because Wolves want £950 for two season tickets thats EARLY BIRD PRICE!!(4 me and my son) and frankly the quality of product is not worth the price tag
Wolves have been poor value this season and the last game against plymouth was a meek and mild “one shot on target” surrender. It was just awful
