Hail Caesar at art gallery

An exhibition featuring black and white photographs by renowed artist Pogus Caesar has opened at Wolverhampton Art Gallery.

That Beautiful Thing will run at the Lichfield Street gallery until July 12 and features photographs taken over more than 20 years.

Most were taken in Mr Caesar’s home town of Birmingham and feature events such as the Handsworth riots and the infamous tornado. He has also snapped well-known personalities such as Stevie Wonder, Desmond Tutu and Julie Christie.

The artist, photographer and film-maker said: “I had one of my first exhibitions here in Wolverhampton in the 1980s and it’s great to return with a new body of work.”

Pogus will also be giving at talk at the Light House Media Centre on July 3.
