Essex’s classics go down a storm

David EssexBefore the lights even went out, die-hard fans rushed the stage. These teeny-boppers of old knew what to expect and David Essex didn’t disappoint them.

Decades on, he still has the audience in the palm of his hand from the moment he steps on stage.

He sang a good mix of old and new, opening with the title track from his new album, Happy Ever After, and treated us to a few more including Before I Met You and the hauntingly emotive Remember England.

He talked about his up-and-coming musical All The Fun Of The Fair, joking: “It’s terrific. I’m in it.”

Although I enjoyed listening to his new stuff, what many in the audience were waiting for were the old favourites, with all of us dreaming that we could be the one he’ll ask to Hold Me Close.

In the encore he tells us he’s Gonna Make You A Star. To his fans he already is – and always will be.

Well reported Karen. I was also there and yes he did have the audience eating out of the palm of his hand b ut then he always does. I have followed him for a very long time now and he never ceases to amaze me.

I am off to Blackpool and Liverpool to see him and I am also looking forward to seeing All the Fun of the Fair musical.

I wish David all the best of luck in everything he does.

    I couldn’t agree more!
I travelled over for the show in Cardiff last Saturday and he was fantastic!
His current album is my all time favourite now.
“Before I met you” is such a beautiful love song.
David appeals to all ages and the fact he always gives his time, after each show, for autographs, really rounds off a perfect evening!
Long may he continue to entertain us!

I was one of the front row ‘die-hards’ who rushed to the stage Karen. After 36 years of following the man he still delivers. He has the talent and charisma that most of the young ’stars’ of today wish they could duplicate! I have another 8 concerts to go and I wish I could afford them all. Rock On David!
    Love ……… Julie xxx

David’s new album ‘Happy Ever After’ is yet another self-penned winner. His songwriting skills are amazing, as is, his ability to deliver on stage with that charm and endless wit!
I’ve got 9 concerts booked and I know each one will have a certain individuality.
As the song goes… Rock On and On and On, David!
