Skipper honours the gaffer

wd2764087albion-28-dh-8.jpgJubilant captain Jonathan Greening believes Albion boss Tony Mowbray could be a top manager in the Champions Lea-gue after guiding the Baggies to promotion.

Former Manchester United midfielder Greening paid the highest tribute to Mowbray after last night’s 1-1 draw at home to Southampton clinched a Premier League return for Albion.

“A lot of what Tony Mowbray does and says reminds me of Sir Alex Ferguson,” he said.

“Everything about him – he’s got an aura about him, and you listen to everything he says.

“What he says always makes sense.

“He likes to play the right way, just like Ferguson and hopefully he won’t just be a top manager with West Brom, but a top manager in the Champions League as well.

“He knows everything about the game tactically. I’ve worked with him now for a year and a half and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with him.

“He’s got a clear vision of how he wants football to be played.”

Mowbray has been linked with managing two clubs he played for – Middlesbrough and Celtic – but Greening believes the boss has a real vision of where he wants to take Albion.

“Middlesbrough and Celtic have both been linked with him and the more he does at West Brom, the more he’s going to be linked with other clubs,” said the skipper.

“But he seems to be one of those guys who ,when he starts something, he will want to finish it off.

“That’s the impression I get and it would have to be a big temptation for him to leave.

“It’s been brilliant going in to training every day. Everyone likes training – the sessions are good and that can only help everyone.

“That’s probably why we’ve got such a good team spirit.”

Couldn’t agree more we’ve been given the chance to be managed by someone who is a passionate student of football and whose pattern of play is a reflection of his desire to play the game properly. I’ve no idea how far Tony will go in the game but I hope that he’s still with west brom when he gets there!

Congratulations to him, Mark Venus, all of the players and backroom staff and of course to JP who took a chance on appointing the chocaholic in the first place.

Off topic I know but just a snippet of info..

The shirt sponsors (so I was told last night)is between 2 companys one is Carlsberg and the other one my friend in the club shop could not remember.(muppet)

Carlsberg makes sense as they are the “official” beer of the Albion
