Chairman Jeremy Peace has hailed manager Tony Mowbray for bringing the 60s and 70s swagger back to Albion.
A delighted Peace paid tribute to Mowbray after he led the Baggies back to the Premier League last night.
And he reiterated his belief that Mowbray’s style of play would enhance the chances of surviving in the top flight.
Peace said: “Tony has done fantastically this season. He came in last season and had to re-shape the squad and we did quite a lot of business in the summer.
“We have built from there and it has been a really successful season. The players have been fantastic, the supporters have been behind the team all the way and they have enjoyed watching the football we have played. It has been a joy to be involved this season. I grew up following Albion in the 60s and 70s when we had great footballing sides and I think to have that culture here at the moment is great.
“As Tony has said before, it does equip us a bit better for the Premier League.
“It will be a massive gulf to cross, as it always is, but we will be a bit better prepared than we were a few seasons ago.
“Getting back into the top flight has been a fantastic thing for us. It’s been a really tough season and every game has been really competitive.
“It’s a difficult division to get out of and we’re just really pleased to be where we are now.”
It was defender Paul Robinson who provided one of last night’s most enduring images as he ‘crowd-surfed’ his way off the field on a sea of jubilation from Baggies fans.
And he paid tribute to the spirit of his team-mates – but admitted the celebrations at the final whistle had been a touch overwhelming.“It’s quite scary out there when all of the fans grab you,” he said.
“I know they want to enjoy it as much as we do, but we wanted to get off the pitch as quickly as possible and do our celebrating in the changing rooms.
“We wanted to finish with a win, but hopefully we can do that in the last game of the season. The title is very important to us. We are a great bunch of lads with determination.
“When we go a goal down we never give up and we want to go to QPR and get a win.”

I think Peace should be applauded for having the vision and sheer bottle to appoint Mowbray.
I just hope he backs him with his Premiership plans, i hear Ronaldinho isnt happy at Barca, sorry think im still drunk.
Come on JP - everybody knows it’s “The Mowbury Way”…. Oh Yes !!!!
The vision of Robbo body surfing the bouncing baggies crowd will probably stay with me forever…
Straight back down again the YAM YAM YO-YO’s
Best chairman the clubs ever had, and best manager the clubs had for many years!
Hopefully the good times are returning…
Strange people you Sandwells. It was not too long ago (this year actually) when you people were slagging off Mr Peace. DAN DAN the Two faced FAN!!
5.. Its not too long ago that your lot where cheering mad mick when you put a little run together that reverted back to the normal boo’s as soon as he lost one!! old proverb matey!!People in glass houses should not throw stones!!

Jealous dingles everywhere
Bye Bye
Dingles beware jealousy is a terrible thing and you might get your come uppance on Sunday.
I don’t suppose it’s crossed your mind to thank us for making sure Blackpool still have to play for points in their game with Watford, which I reckon is your best chance of getting a play off spot. No! you’re to concerned with slagging us off. Oh you foolish people, will you never learn!!
Hopefully, we will bring in enough quality players to keep us up and establish ourselves in the Prem.
But if even we don’t….we are already a well run club, play fantastic football, in profit, money to come for the Curtis Davies deal and Sky news quoted this morning that even finishing bottom is a guaranteed income of over £62 million over the next 3 seasons (Tv deal and 2 years parachute money of £22 million). Thats without the revenue from gate receipts, sponsors, merchandising, corporate etc. We are rolling in it and under Mowbray it will be spent wisely I’m sure.
Wolves fans can make as many negative comments as they like. At least noone is going to be able to by the Baggies for a tenner eh!
Fill the woodman corner in this summer as the season tickets have sold out the fa cup could pay for that.
Well I wish it was wolves although we have a long term plan and it’s only 18 months in, Wolves may see the fruits buying young talented players. We could always look at the Albion squad for players pushed out to the fringes. I for one could see us getting a season out of Philips etc - if he’d come (although being ex-Sunderland he does qualify!).
let the dingles have there say come on the baggie fans do we really mind what they [dingles]are saying we are the one,s thats in the prem [AGAIN] AND IF WE PLAY ATTACKING FOOTY THE TM WAY AND NOT DEFENSIVE THE MEGSON , ROBSON WAY WE WILL STAY UP BOING BOING .
Nottsbaggie “At least noone is going to be able to by the Baggies for a tenner eh!”
Correct! You’d get £7.50 max.
For the record, Wolves was sold for £30,000,010 (read the small print and start using a spell checker - you really need one)
you praise the man peace,,just you make sure we keep him,,,what a manager,,STORMING THE PREM THE MOWBRAY WAY,,IN STYLE OF COURSE,,OH YES
14. BaggiesToDoADerby
Your stupidity is perfectly demonstrated in your last sentence.
‘For the record, Wolves was sold for £30,000,010 (read the small print and start using a spell checker - you really need one)
No full stop and Wolves, being plural of Wolf, ‘were’ sold for £*****, not was.
Can you get a grammar checker? Typical jealous, moronic Dingle.
Baggie Boy.Just for the record and why I should tell you this I don’t know, my team is already ESTABLISHED in the premier and has been for a NUMBER of years.
Can’t you see from my name I am taking the proverbial out of you Sandwell sado’s. Not that that is too difficult to do anyway.
remember the mowbray way cos its here to stay,,,,STORMING THE PREM THE MOWBRAY WAY,,,IN STYLE OF COURSE,,,OH YES
baggies to do a derby what about dingles to stay down and out
Good luck in the Prem. You deserve it.
Dan
don’t forget Thompson fella - if it weren’t for him stopping us losing 25k a week and appointing Megson we would certainly not be where we are.
in the other posts in e&s 100% respect to the wolves postive comments. good look midlands
is that right mick mc’carthy was asked on sky how far he is away from a promotion winning side he replied about 10 miles down the a41 boing boing happy baggies fan
@HappyTerryfromWorces
clear off to your own pages if you
have nothing contructive to add.
all this “sandwell” stuff is getting boring.
sandwell, fyi is a “borough”
west bromwich is a “town”.
don’t confuse the two, although i suspect
from your whereabouts you are probably too
drunk on moonshine.
BaggiesToDoADerby, we sold ONE PLAYER for £10M, now how does that reflect on your £30M CLUB.
Go away and get back under your small little rock.
To the proper Wolves fans out there: The play-offs are still a possibility.
Peace has done wonders for this club in the last few years, getting shot of boring robson was one, keeping us financially sound was another, the best was employing a fantastic manager in TM.
Please keep up the good work mr Peace.
14. And wolves to do a… lets think of a few mid table boring never ever going up teams like.. Norwich.. Barnsley… Bye bye dingles miss you already…. ha.
16-I’m assuming that not saying your club’s name in the comment means that you are either too embarrassed to tell people,or you’ve forgotten their name. Also,’established’usually means ‘achieved nothing’.
Not sure about drunk, you must be on something wbabomber, lol!!
Still lots of jelous dingles. Concentrate on supporting your own team, they might stand half a chance then!!
LEAGUE TABLE DOESN’T LIE, WEST BROM 78 POINTS 1ST, WOLVES 7TH 67 POINTS. WEST BROM GOALS 86, WOLVES GOALS 52. ALL FACTS.
Whether or not we do a derby is open to opinion, the fact is there are 23 teams in the championship who would swap with us right now.
Got my season ticket next year for the baggies, cant wait.
BOING BOING!!!!!
20 - beevower
You’re spot on! I desperately wanted Megson to come to the Wolves when he left Albion - best Manager outside the Premiership at the time - no doubt. He did a superb job for you - unbelievable really. His achievements were unexpected as he transformed you from a “mid-table/pushing for play-offs” side (like us … still …) to a top-two Championship side and Premier league side. Most Wolves fans were appalled at the thought of an ex-Baggie coming to Wolves (seemed to work with Bully), so instead we got TWADDLE……
no1baggiesfan said: Apr 29th, 2008 at 9:54 pm BaggiesToDoADerby, we sold ONE PLAYER for £10M, now how does that reflect on your £30M CLUB.
Your point is??? We have sold plenty of players for £5m £6m etc etc, this means nothing when placing a value on a club. When you buy a football club, the price you pay is not necessarily what it is worth because of other factors, debts etc etc. I simply posted the £30m comment because your fellow idiot a****n fan assumed that our great club was worth £10. I don’t know why I waste my time talking to people with brains the size of their teams trophy cabinet………
24 stuffed sorry stfusd.
And whereabouts do you think that might be then???
I don’t need to drink either in order to see good football.
Thanks for the locallity lesson it really is good of you. I was getting mixed between burrow and town. Yes I know a burrow is wher rabbiits are.Get the link????
30. How I agree. By the way they DO NOT have a TROPHY cabinet. Oh I see what you are getting at now. BOING BOING.
Baggies to do a Derby! - with a well thought out constructive name like that do you think that people are going to take you seriously?
Try supporting your own team.
How much of the promised 30m has Morgan spent?
Your club has a lot of catching up to do!
33. I do support my own team mate. Been going to Wolves for 20+ years and haven’t missed a home game in 13 seasons. Nottsbaggie made a stupid comment that wound me up, so I chose a name that would wind YOU (Baggies fans) up … and “YIPEEE” it worked…. By the way, Morgan has not promised to spend £30m, HE SIMPLY HAS TO, LEGALLY. I believe he’s spent about £3m so far - thanks for the question. Yes, we do have some catching up to do, and IMHO Paul Ince would be a good start.
Meggo and Thompson were essential to our club at that time and Meggo could have re-organised Wolves for success, although you wouldn’t have liked the football much. Mick isn’t much different from Megson really, just as stubborn but maybe a little less ego. If he is shown the door, let’s hope your man finds a Mowbray model with the same outlook ours has. You’ll LOVE IT ! I promise. And you deserve it after what you’ve suffered at the hands of Glen Hoddle.
