Kightly: Fans have a part to play

kightlyceleb2.jpg

Michael Kightly today began banging the drum for a memorable Molineux finale in Sunday’s Championship Play-Off deciders.

Wolves squad will get a run out at tonight’s Darren Wrack testimonial at Walsall before resting up and returning to training on Friday to begin preparations for the all-important Plymouth clash.

And Kightly is appealing to the Molineux faithful to help Mick McCarthy’s team deliver the result which will pile the pressure on Crystal Palace and Watford, the teams barring Wolves entry to the top six.

“We need to come out all guns blazing on Sunday and if the fans can make it a fortress for us then it will really help,” says Kightly.

“I’ve no doubt in my mind that is what they will do, really get behind us and we can come out flying.

We need to win the game and hopefully we can do that. It is a pressure game but that’s the same for Watford and Palace.

“We’ve had some big games now even though we’re a young squad. At Leicester last year we went a goal down after two minutes and turned that around.

“We’ve got big characters in the team and that will help us get the result we need.”

Kightly has made a triumphant return to the first team after a five month injury lay-off and is desperate for the season to be extended by a second successive appearance in the Play Offs.

Wolves need to win while hoping Palace or Watford slip up and will be encouraged that Southampton’s draw at The Hawthorns last night raises the stakes for Blackpool, still not sure of safety, at home to Watford.

“I got 60 minutes last Tuesday and just over 75 at Coventry so hopefully by Sunday I’ll be full throttle,” he says.

“If Palace draw and we win we’re there and if Watford draw and we get a few goals we’re there so we’re still in with a chance.

“Conceding late on against Ipswich and then drawing on Saturday when we feel we should have won makes it a bit disappointing we’re not in there already.

“We’d have preferred to go into the last day with it in our own hands but we’ll keep fighting right to the end.”

WE ALWAYS DO OUR BIT MIKE..UNFORTUNATELY IT’S YOU LOT ON THE PITCH THAT ARE LETTING THE CLUB DOWN..IF YOU WERE GETTING RESULTS YOU WOULDN’T NEED TO KEEP GOING TO THE MEDIA AND BEGGING FOR SUPPORT.

DO YOUR TALKING ON THE PITCH MATE.

Talking of ‘banging the drum’, whatever happened to the Southbank ‘band’. How awful were they!!

    1, Completely agree.

We’ve done our bit all season. 6000 fans at Cov, full house against Sandwell etc etc, yet nothing to sing about.

Shut up and win and dont forget, we pay to watch, you get your cheque whatever the result.

You owe us for this seasons support.

ridiculous comments from kites. Season has been a shambles due to you and your mates failing to deliver on the pitch week in and week out.I will not criticise kites performances and his injury hasnt helped but as far as i am concerned the rest of the team should hang there heads in shame for not gaining automatic promotion in the weakest championship for years. simply not good enough, end of !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    2. And I thought it was just me, not an easy name to make a decent song up to though is it, and thank god the bands gone, all they did was murder a few classics

I’ve got to admit, this is getting a bit tyresome, whether its the E&S making up the stories, but one for for sure the fans do know exactly how important the game is on Sunday.

More great spin from the Molineux spin machine!

I wonder who could be responsible for all the clapp-trapp this season?

Does they have a fake tan and three chins by any chance?

Can’t wait till Monday, I bet they’ll be spinning for England!

I am confident of a Wolves Win and SEB to dish out the punishment against his old club.

Nathanwolves, I think ive been quite positive this season, Ive been one of the few to back Mick all season, and ive always predicted a Wolves win on match day on these pages, just ask abdonwolf and my stubborn loyalty.

Truth is though, with so many false dawns this season im left really disappointed with this Wolves team, I cant stand losing to the Albion and we never seem to win our big games.

Im getting fed up, only a miracle Sunday will cheer me up, its unlikely, so im gonna be negative for now just to let off steam.

I have been positive as well Sandwell all season. Although I have always said that MM will be judged at the end of the season. He said at the start, judge him at the end, he said he wanted to win it and that can’t happen now.
He now has no excuses, it is totally his own team and if they do not do it this season then I will join the “dark side” as abdon put it.
Just hope I don’t have too!!!!

Anybody who has played football at any kind of competative level will know that the fans have no bearing on what happens on the pitch! Players and management only talk like this when what they are doing is not good enough! It must be our fault then that our manager and team have performed so poorly this season. I have been a Wolves supporter for 50 years now and I have never seen this club with such a poor manager and we have had some bad ones!!

  29. quality counts said:

..just how many more articles do we need to read from substandard players suggesting the fans are the reason we aren’t the Baggies and going up!

We are a championship team and based on Morgan the Moron’s comments yesterday, likely to stay one for the forseeable future. He doesn’t want premiership football at wolves.

If we did get promoted he would have to spend real time sorting out the club and he can’t be bothered as long as he has a nice “little earner”.

You and your conspiracy theory buddies on this here site really do none of us any good. What evidence do you have of Morgan not wanting this club to get in the premiership ? Have you spoken to him ? Do you have Watergate type recordings of him and Moxey chuckling to themselves like Bond Badies, smoking cigars and stroking white cats ? Seriously, you’re entitled to your opinion, but before you start airing acusations in public forums, some form of concrete proof is required for your argument to hold water.

#38. Proof? Morgan came in with, he said, 30M to invest in the club. He didn’t do it. If he had I am sure we would be there with the Baggies who did spend the money to go up.

The reality is that his investment of 10 quid and a bit here and there has gotten him a good extra bonus when we sell SEB, Hennessey and Eastwood.

If you have an owner wanting to get into the Premiership and have the type of money he said he has then we would be up there.

For sure he hasn’t invited me to a board meeting so there must be a bit of guesswork.

The question to you Londonwolf is simple, if he wants to get us promoted why hasn’t he invested in the players who have the experience to get us there? “Where’s the beef” as an old commercial enquired years ago.

No one with half a brain can see any indication of Morgan wanting to get out of the championship. The effort, read money, hasn’t been forthcoming has it? Have we seen any statements in the last four months that Premiership is his goal? He did mention the playoffs though. That’s championship football.

A few pennies and a lot of hype from Moxey has us with a long shot at getting beaten in the playoffs. That’s a double statement as if we get there we are going to have our asses kicked.

May I just point out that Im not saying that Morgan is in this to make us a top half premiership team, just that I dont know if he is or isn’t. The guy’s been here 5 minutes, and Im not gonna shoot my mouth off like you with wilds accusations until Ive got some form of proof.

All I know is that the guy has been an immense success in anything he’s done. He’s spent money to make money in all his previous business fields. I like the fact that the Wolves attitude is to buy younger players these days - too many years we spent big on so called (as you would put it) “beef” and it never worked.

Point is mate, you - do - not - have - any - real - proof, just your opinion that his approach will not work.

Can you explain the benefit of spending 30 million on championship quality players or ex pre star who only come here for the cash?

Can you not see the fact that the player over achieved last season and for that have been shot in the foot by you so called fans. They are a young squad with potential, they just need time. we are 7th and can still go up so lets all stay positive.

With the players we have now with another year of experience plus a few more players in certain positions the future looks bright the future looks gold and black.
