Wolves fans get the rare chance to see Freddy Eastwood in action tonight – in what will most likely be a farewell appearance.
Eastwood is in a strong starting line up being sent by Mick McCarthy to Walsall’s Banks’s Stadium for the Darren Wrack testimonial clash.
The £1.5m striker, the subject of so much anguish and debate among Wolves fans, has become an even bigger by-stander in recent weeks having failed to make the substitutes bench for two of the last three games and been unused in the other.
It’s all-but admitted by McCarthy that Eastwood will be up for transfer in the summer and that Coventry, having been blocked from signing him on loan before the March deadline, will be back in the queue.
He will play in a side that is not without other major points of interest for Wolves fans as youngsters Mark Little and Daniel Jones, back from their experience-gleaning excursions to Northampton, don the gold and black again.
And there will be a chance to see another of the Molineux Academy’s much-talked about proteges Elliott Bennett, who also gets the chance to display his potential.
In a show of support for Wrack, McCarthy is taking along the many of his senior squad who could get a run out from the substitutes bench.
“Anyone who gets a testimonial these days must be a fantastic servant to a club and it is a pleasure to take a team along tonight,” says McCarthy.

I know the 11 picked are all fringe players (including Fred), but even so, I would have waited until the season concluded before playing any testimonal games.

Freddy Eastwood has been shamefully treated by our Club and in particular our current Manager for the last nine months.
I can only hope that if and when Eastwood does move on to another club that our much derided Mr Moxey ensures that there is a sell-on clause in the Sale of him to wherever he finds a new club.
I have a strong feeling that this fiasco will haunt us again next season when Freddy is a regular scorer for another Championship side.
Of course it is entirely possible that he will play regularly for us next season and that the stubborn Yorkshire man who promised so much is no longer part of the equation !

Even then I don’t think he has a long term future, unlike Freddy who will be a success at his next club and will haunt us when he plays against us (especially as he will know the weaknesses of our ageing central defence like no other).

I think FE started very good but he has just sometimes been lazy. Against Charlton Kevin Kyle sped past FE to deliver that cross for Karl Henry to score. I have respect for him but i have more respect for Andy Keogh and SEBs partnership which could possibly be the best in years. AK has hit the goals since SEB came. Mick is building a very strong team but they are still young so give them some time. MM said he wanted 3 years so give him the 3 years and i think in the next 3 years Mick will have established a premiership team. In Mick We Trust.

i cannot understand why people go on at mccarthy all the time. This season we have underachieved but last season we overachieved. Its all part of the building process. Mick said it was a 3yr plan and it looks that way to me - he has built a decent squad and has got down to the last couple of positions to fill. Kightly, Jarvis, SEB, Keogh, Olofinjana, Henry, Foley and Hennessey are great talents and they all love the club, and we have plenty of long contracts and money to keep them here! Mick has recognised the need for CBs - with that recent trialist and Berra. The future looks promising to me, am i the only one??! Get behind the team, its only going to get better!

Ever thought of getting your facts straight first before accusing fans who know more than you of being ‘idiots’.
Graham Turner, Graham Taylor & Dave Jones were the 3 managers that the majority of fans WANTED to keep. McGee & Hoddle were the ones most fans wanted gone (although personally I thought McGee was doing OK)
If you remember back to Graham Turners days he was hugely popular and it took many seasons of stagnation before some fans got on his back. Out of loyalty for his achievements the majority of fans publically, & even violently, supported him against any critics. Remember the reversible Turner must go/must stay badges?
Dave Jones got us up & because he didn’t get the greatest of starts the first season back in the Championship Sir Jack & Moxey fired him…long before fans were critical. Their lack of funding for him in the Premiership caused friction between him & them…but it had nothing to do with fan pressure.

eg Kluivert at newcastle utd, a proven quality world class player without doubt but couldnt fit in/adjust etc and was moved on. Hes just one of many players far far better than freddy eastwood that just havent worked out for one reason or another.

It’s amazing the Freddy discussion also brings into discussion MM. I myself belive that MM has gone backwards so badly that his three year plan has extended. His first year was better than anyone could have dreamed and for that we will always be grateful, but surely everyone has got to be realistic, and in my opinion MM has severely under achieved this season.
If MM stays with us next year I will back him from the begining of the season fully, but he must repay that loyalty with results and performances, and I would like him to swallow his pride and admit his mistakes, because this season with player selection and tactical selection we have been let down.
Sometimes when you go down one road it’s difficult to turn round retrace your steps and admit you have taken the wrong direction, but if you do that it makes a better person of you.
I was so pleased that MM and Roy Keane buried the hatchet because life is to short, and maybe MM should bury the hatchet with all of us FANS and admit our season has been poor, then maybe we would believe in him again.
No more spin MM tell us the truth, and if you do lead us into next season good luck, but don’t hide behind falsehoods, we see what’s going on on the pitch were not blind.

Even though i’ve never been the biggest Eastwood fan (but that stems from the senseless hype that surrounds him here) i don’t think he’s been given a fair crack. It’s obvious him and Mick have had a bust up, and Mick being the stubborn tart that he would rather play anyone else upfront apart from Freddy. Mick fell out with Bothroyd pre-season and couldn’t wait to get shot of him, and he fell out with Breen and decided to play Collins ahead of him. I just hope that Mick’s stubborness doesn’t prove to be his or our.
Even though i’m not his biggest fan, nobody wants hime to succeed and score goals for Wolves more than me. I hope he gets a hat-trick tonight, to show Mick up for the stubborn prat that he is.

I believe that Freddy has the capability to be a great goal poacher, but a very limited manager like McCarthy can only assess personal pain in his “do a shift” mentality. I think you over estimate the talents. Some of those players are average Championship players at best.
I always get behind the team at matches, but on here, I like many others are entitled to express their opinions where it does no harm.
A building process involves making progress. We may end up in the play offs yet and some will say that is standing still. In reality this was a poor division and we have gone backwards in my opinion.
eastwood has not been picked since he got involved in alleged nightclub punch up in late aug/early sep. obviously MM made his mind up about him then ,but if MM had not gone 4 SEB in jan our
season would have been over long ago so his decisions are not all bad, think he should get till nov if we don`t make play offs.

everyone seems concerned about the freddy eastwood saga,although i can’t understand how certain players get preference over freddy my biggest concern is midfield. we don’t appear to be able to compete physically or skilfully with most teams.look at most successful teams in any league and see how many midfielders add to the teams goal tally. that is why we have not dominated a single match at home this season.we need to improve midfield get a stronger captain to organise on the pitch,and more tactical ideas from our coaching staff

Have tried to post twice but for some reason my posts disappear. Just wanted to say a lot of so called supporters are more like a muppet than muppet Mick are. For some reason they deny the fact that Eastwood has got lots and lots of chances and has figured in a lot of games without impressing. He has not been good enough. Not scored in his last 34 games in the Wolves shirt and when he finally does a lot of you think that he scores everytime he plays. Ok - now he has scored in 100 percent of the last 1 games. YES!.. lets all forget about the 34 games before that. Get rid of him and then he can be lazy and ignorant at lower levels where he belongs.
