West Bromwich Albion fans were today celebrating a return to the Premier League after a night of high drama at The Hawthorns.
The Baggies are boinging their way back up to join England’s footballing elite next season thanks to last night’s 1-1 draw with Southampton.
Today talks were being held between the club, Sandwell Council and West Midlands Police to organise a grand open-top bus parade, followed by a civic reception at the council house in Oldbury where fans will gather in the town square.
And manager Tony Mowbray will now plan for a Premiership campaign, bolstered by an estimated £62 million that promotion will bring to the club.
There were scenes of jubilation as ecstatic supporters poured onto the pitch at the final whistle when the draw effectively sealed Albion’s return to the top flight.
Those scenes were mirrored elsewhere as many fans unable to get a ticket to the match squeezed into pubs to watch the drama unfold on big screens.
After the disappointment of play-off final defeat last season and the bitterness of relegation the previous year, the Albion faithful were determined to enjoy the night.
Speaking of his delight after leading his side to a glorious promotion, Mowbray said: “I generally don’t show emotion outwardly, but inwardly I enjoy things just as much as anyone else and, vice versa, when we lose football matches I feel it the same as everyone else.
“I’ll enjoy the moment when I get home with my family. I feel a certain warmth about the achievement of getting into the Premier League. I’ve got lots of chocolate in the fridge in my office and I’ll probably have a cube or two to celebrate.”
Delighted Sandwell Council leader Bill Thomas said: “We have offered to provide a civic reception at the end of any open top bus tour. We will now have a premier team and hopefully a premier town, with the extra investment this will bring.
“Any arrangements for a tour are in the hands of Albion. We will spring into action as soon as the club fires the starting pistol.”
Famous Baggies fan Adrian Chiles was unable to attend last night’s match, with a hectic filming schedule meaning he watched the match on a live feed to his dressing room.
He said: “I was filming The One Show and the Apprentice, which we film on a Monday, but fortunately they set the Sky up in my dressing room and I watched it there.
“When Southampton scored I knew we would get a few more chances – God bless Chris Brunt. I did celebrate last night, but my kids had me up at 6.30am. But you never mind waking up early the morning after promotion!”

Did anyone see Mick McCarthy’s interview on Sky Sports this morning?
He was asked how far he thought he was away from a promotion winning side?

I DID THAT YESTERDAY MATE.
Well done to Albion.
You have shown a lot of bottle this season especially scoring late goals.
Think you will have the best chance of staying up next season out of the promoted teams unless Wolves manage to get there with you!
Did’nt want you boys in the play offs anyway!
Good luck.
Live and let live Wolves fan.
A great night regardless of the surprisingly subdued atmosphere. I suppose most of us are getting used to promotions, big games, Wembley etc. Its all getting a bit old hat.
Just like the good old days a football team to be proud off, next season ill settle for top ten and the cup.WELL DONE BAGGIES
Premier League havin a laugh!!!

I have had enough of nothing happening down to wolves every season, i always see albion improving and now they are back in the top flight again….I have had all i can take so im off to the dark side with all the quality and vision that west brom can offer its supporters….goodbye and good riddance to the crappy goin nowhere drivel served up by the gold shirted every week and hello to a future that looks bright and inventive with the blue and white stripes!!!
How much are your ‘##;* sorry our season tickets this year cos im gonna buy two for me and my mate.
COME ON YOU BAGGIES…!!!
COME ON YOU BAGGIES…!!!
Am i saying it right?
Well done Albion. Good to see another midlands team in the top flight. Hopefully we will join you ( i didn’t say when !!)
It hasn’t sunk in yet. It will next Sunday!
So come on Wolves, get in the play offs, win the games and lets have a Black Country derby in the Prem!
heres to n04 … bookies favs to go up were dingles.. bookies favs to stay down dingles…
how times change… well never play u again
1. Romsley baggie, Its the sort of stupid and childish remark we have come to expect from our manager.
Anyway, from a devoted Wolves fan and football supporter, well done to you at Sandwell Town its good to see another Midland side back in the Prem. Hope you do well next season.
32 - I don’t think Romsley was being 100% truthful - although you are right when you say it’s the sort of thing MM would say…
C’mon Wolves and join us~
Well done to you lot down the road!
I heard the chants ‘are you watching Wanderers?’ and yes I’m watching closely as are thousands of other dingles, so you wanna hope you can stay up cause if not you know we’ll be reminding you of all this ‘back amongst the greats’ and ‘elite’ talk, personally I’d keep these kind of comments to myself if I were you!!
As for the Wolves, well to be honest I reckon although we’re in with a shout, we’re not quite ready yet but I believe that these youngsters have a bright future, whether that is under MM is debatable, let’s see?
Fair play to you Baggies!
Fair play Tescos, fully deserved as much as I hate to admit it. I honestly don’t think I’ve seen a better “football-playing”, attack minded team in this division for years, and think you deserve your chance and that you will most likely stay up next season. As said before, sincerely hoping we can renew our epic Black Country battles in the Promised Land. Deep down pleased that there is another Midlands club in the Prem.
Again, Congratulations and enjoy your moment.
forget playing wolves, we got the real derby
to play next season THE VILLA !
Why do some Baggies fans assume most Wolves fans are bitter about WBA getting promotion?
All I’m bothered about is my own club, I couldn’t care less about WBA being promoted, other than some of my mates are happy and might actually get their hands in their pockets to buy the drinks for once.
They deserved it, no arguments there and should enjoy their moment, as given the yoyo pattern of recent years, it’s best to party while you have the chance. I think they are the only Championship side who stand a realistic chance of avoiding relegation next year, but it will be tough.
32 Wath Wanderer, I was joking mate, but thanks for making me laugh out loud again!!!!!
Come on Plymouth!!!!!!
Boing Boing
I would like to thank all of the Wolves fans that have come on here congratulating the Albion on their promotion.I think you will find that most albion fans will not be gloating at the fact that we are up and you arent.I think the more local clubs that are in the prem, the better.
We are very lucky to have someone like mowbray after years of suffering with the Wolves having the upper hand.I think it is essential for you lot to get up either this season or next, or it will start to get tough for you. It is still possible this season and as we have seen, anything can happen in this league so you may well be joining us.
Don’t want to be the bringer of bad news but I have just heard off a good source that the FA are looking into last night’s pitch invasion. Due to the fact the Albion aren’t officially promoted they are taking the view the pitch invasion was a breach of FA rules and may fine the club and dock the club up to 10 points! Don’t get excited just yet as you may find yourselves outside the play offs come the end of the season!
Grimreaper.
Are you talking pants mate.
Was your source Daddy’s sauce??
Grimreaper.
Prat!
one sentence. straight back in, and straight back out again

well done you baggies by far the best team in the championship, cant fault you . like i say well done,,, and dont come back down right away please .
Well done! Enjoy the new season back in the top flight. I am now off to run a hot bath and open a vein.
Well done from a Dingle. Please God, stuff the Villa-now there is a team I really do not like.
You were the best team in this division by a mile.
Still love the Old Gold and Black though!
Can’t quite bring myself to say “Congratu..” ..no just won’t come out!!
whats alex wolves on about how long has wolverhampton been in the black country never as far as me and my family all the way back to year dot have been aware of
And come on you baggies well done and Tony Mowbray vindicated for his entertaining style of play without a doubt .
Lets hope our chairman has the nerve Tony has and does the right thing and stands by him and the supporters in the transfer market when needed boing boing staying up boing boing with some luck
Grim reaper 41, well we’ve had the going straight down brigade, we’ve had the not bothered cos more important things than footy brigade, and now the clutching at straws brigade like you!!
