Dozens of cannabis plants have been seized from a house in Staffordshire in a police raid. Three people were arrested following yesterday’s discovery in Cannock.
A team of police officers with a search warrant raided the home in Clarion Way, where they discovered more than 30 marijuana plants hidden in the property. The three people arrested, a woman aged 37 and two men aged 42 and 43, all from the Cannock area, have been released on bail and are expected to appear in court in a few weeks.
Sergeant Ant Richards, from Cannock Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: “We got the warrant at around 9.30am and the raid was carried out by members of the Chase division proactive unit and Cannock NPU.
“Three people have been arrested for offences concerning the cultivation of cannabis.”
They have all been released on police bail and are likely to appear in court in early June.
The drugs raid was executed by 10 police officers, and scenes of crime officers and representatives from the electricity company were also present.
“There were a total of 32 plants some of which had been harvested and some of which hadn’t,” Sergeant Richards said.
“A quantity of harvested vegetation was seized.”
The raid follows the discovery of hundreds of the illegal plants in a sleepy south Staffordshire village at the weekend.
Police seized around 400 cannabis plants from a house in Codsall on Saturday.
Officers swooped on the property in Strawmoor Lane after a tip-off about a supected drugs factory.
Officers removed the plants and equipment used to cultivate them in the raid on Saturday, for examination by forensic specialists.
Inspector Pat Shannaghan, commander of Wombourne neighbourhood policing unit, stressed the importance of the community’s role in the fight against drug dealers following the raid, and urged anyone with information about drug related activity to contact police.

nothing better to do with their time…. and who are they fooling taking the plants out wearing masks…. the moron who criminalized weed should be burning in hell!!! which i think would resemble gornal!!
Well done to the police! Keep up the good work!
yeah, well done the police..LOL
So it takes over ten police officers to up root some harmless plants as well as wearing i presume, jack boots and waving guns to arrest some non violent, pot smoking, flipflop wearing horticulturalist yet do nothing to find and arrest real and proper criminals that commit violence and murder in our streets..
good’n lads, got your nice little ‘crime solved’ box ticked for the government, can have a few beers tonight then..
Can anyone actually remember when the police did anything else apart from this?..
How can a plant be illegal?
I don’t see the police tearing up deadly nightshade - which will kill if consumed.
Pot is illegal because people enjoy its effects, and a plant that anyone can grow can’t be controlled by tax-grabbing control freaks who run a protection racket in £4 pints.
Nanny state Britain run by the Ministry of No Fun.
3/4 People who smoke this crap are fit for nothing and are the scum . the police did a good job well done guys you have just saved 3/4 from smoking it or why would they get so upset
what an excellent result!
now all the people that harmlessly smoke cannabis (a substance which is much less harmful than alcohol) wont be able to buy it from their dealers but instead buy the hard drugs such as cocaine or heroin that their dealers will offer instead.
wonderful to think that the police are moving all your children to use hard drugs isn’t it?..
over 100,000 people die from tobacco use in Briton, over 40,000 direct deaths from alcohol. NO related deaths from cannabis….but well done the police, the community is so much safer..LOL
All that will happen is 3 more people will set up in their place growing more cannabis..
Legalise and regulate, its the only way to keep your children away from hard drugs. Its worked in Holland and it will work here..
Comments above numbers 1.3.and 4 just goes to show how damaged some peoples brains have become. One can only wonder if it is due in some small way to smoking this rubbish.
WELL DONE STAFFORSHIRE POLICE.
Re 4: seems like you’ve smoked too much today. Most people ‘enjoy’ alcohol but its not illegal. Should you wish you can also grow tobacco but please be sure to ‘cure’ it properly. Seems like your only ‘fun’ in nanny state Britain is to get high.
good day
I work hard all week to pay all my bills on time, i have no debt other than my mortgage [of which i have never missed a payment]. I have no criminal record, with the only ever crime i have committed is to of used cannabis.
And now i discover that i am a scumbag, thanks pal.
Good day… Excuse me for pointing out PC correctness but… if you are going to make a sweeping comparison like, that which is just a bit tar and brush - I mean - thats like saying 3/4 of muslims are terrorists - and clearly they are not, and to be honest I have yet to see someone who smokes it start brawling and kicking someones head it for nothing! thats the others - that have had a skin full of legal lager - Should we ban that too? The point I am making is if it was legal the police could use that time else where…

So because some people abuse something and don’t know how to regulate themselves, the rest should suffer? In that case, why is drinking illegal? Alcoholics are far more useless and good for nothing than any stoner I know.
On topic, I’m all for busting dealers because it all contributes to other, more serious criminal activities, but if that stuff was just for personal use then it’s a waste of time and money seizing it.
