Wolves reserves hit by late leveller

Wolves 2

Huddersfield 2

Wolves reserves were denied by a late equaliser after hitting back from behind and looking set for a deserved victory at Telford.

Denes Rosa’s 12th goal of the season cancelled out a Luke Beckett opener and then Liam Hughes looked to have earned Wolves victory only for Luke Malcher to grab a share of the spoils for the visitors.

Huddersfield took an 11th-minute lead when Beckett forced home Lucas Akins’s cross after Danny Schofield had earlier headed against the inside of the post and forced a fine save out of Wolves goalkeeper Billy Lumley.

Wolves slowly got into the game and Hughes fired over before Rosa equalised in the 28th minute.

The Hungarian sent an exquisite lob from just outside the area, the ball dropping over a defender who was on the line after keeper Alex Smithies had blocked Hughes’s shot.Chances continued to come - mainly for Wolves.

Mark Salmon drove narrowly wide while at the other end, Danny Racchi was just off target from just outside the box for Town.

Ashley Hemmings went close to giving Wolves the lead twice either side of the break.

First he stabbed just wide from Hughes’s driven cross before seeing a piledriver blocked by Smithies.

Wolves finally went ahead in the 49th minute when Hughes finished from Alex Melbourne’s superb through ball.

Smithies kept out a rising drive from Hemmings and Rosa almost grabbed a

spectacular third for Wolves with a falling volley from Melbourne’s cross, but his shot was blocked.

Smithies made saves from Kyle Bennett, twice, and also from Rosa, who fired wide from the rebound before Huddersfield levelled on 82 when the unmarked Malcher slotted past Lumley.

Afterwards, captain Salmon was presented with the Supporters’ Reserve Player of the Year trophy by Wolves manager Mick McCarthy and organiser Mick Harper.

I’m happy to jump on the Rosa bandwagon - with any other manager, he would have forced his way into the team by now. MM reckons he doesn’t suit his system - do they play a different system in the reserves then? I doubt it - most clubs prefer their reserves to play the same way as the first team - then again, we ain’t “most clubs” are we?

Rosa is not good enough for the first team FACT. If McCarthy gave him a chance then you would disgracefully boo him like elliot and collins.

I just hope that Rosa keeps thumping them in. Each goal increases the money the club will get for him.

Mr Morgan will make a killing this summer when all the transfers are complete! And all for £10 and only a pretend investment, what brilliance!
