Today’s transfer rumours - April 24

goal.jpgAll the latest transfer gossip on Wolves, Albion, Villa, Walsall and Blues.

VILLA

Middlesbrough and Aston Villa are among the Premiership clubs monitoring Albion’s Zoltan Gera.

Christian Maggio has admitted he is flattered to read reports claiming Villa are interested in snapping him up this summer. The 26-year-old is impressing observers for his form with Sampdoria, although he is co-owned by Fiorentina.

The agent of Chelsea goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini has played down speculation linking the Italian with a move to Juventus, with Villa among the clubs reportedly keen to end the Italian’s eight-year stay at Stamford Bridge.

Wilfred Bouma is closing in on signing a new deal with Villa as Martin O’Neill plans to hold talks with his agent.

WOLVES

No news from Molineux.

ALBION

Kevin Phillips insists speculation that he will quit West Brom in the summer after snubbing a new deal is “nonsense”.

Middlesbrough and Aston Villa are among the Premiership clubs monitoring Albion’s Zoltan Gera.

South Korean midfielder Kim Do-heon could sign on a permanent deal if Baggies boss Tony Mowbray gets his way.

Albion are said to be interested in Derry City wide man Paddy McCourt.

SADDLERS

David Kelly, the former Preston and Derby County assistant manager, has emerged as the favourite to take charge at Walsall, says the Daily Mail.

Former Republic of Ireland international Mark Kinsella has been linked with the vacant manager’s position.

BLUES

Fabrice Muamba is set to hold new contract talks with Birmingham City. Wigan are lining up a £5million move if the Blues are relegated.

I’d be happy with Kelly, Kinsella or Staunton at Walsall, or perhaps Kelly and one of the latter as assistant.

  2. Albion Wizards said:

Paddy McCourt from Derry. Must be a mistake it’s got to be MM after him not TM….

  3. terrystilltopbaggie said:

why do papers keep linking gera with a move away from wba? i should think he certain to stay now they are up (bar some miracle)

  6. Arnyking said:

You will get relegated the Mowbury way aswell u concede goals in the championship what will you be like in the prem, i mean just check out your away record :) the way albion play footy is good to watch and yes i wish wolves played as well, so when your attacking in the prem just watch them teams pick you off, im looking forward to it in fact. fair play though over the the season you have been the better team, but you will never be the better club, :)

  7. Wolfie said:

Why dont you try using the atlas you got the other day Terry!?

  8. TonyWBA said:

5: Papers speculate, until these things happen do what I do take them with a pinch of salt as we’ve read that one numerous times. It’s just a repeat.

Now this Paddy McCourt is intriging as this is not the sort of players name that could just be thrown into the hat, I’ve never heard of him anybody else have any information???
I’d ask Jeeves but this time I’ll ask Happy

  9. TonyWBA said:

No worries Happy done it my self, think it may be TM unearthing another Gem

Patrick McCourt (born 16 December 1983, Derry, Northern Ireland), commonly known as Pat McCourt or Paddy McCourt, is a Northern Irish footballer who currently plays as a winger with FAI League of Ireland club Derry City.

McCourt, known to local fans as “Paddy”, is noted as one of the most talented players in the League of Ireland and with his dazzling array of skills, he can break down even the strongest of defences.

yo wont need directions to the bottom of the prem next season.

  11. wolveswolves said:

Gera will never stay at the Tesco’s. Think about it, he could spend the season fighting to stay in the premiership or he can double his salary and go and play at a real premiership club.
Not a difficult decision is it?

  12. baggie_kez said:

Junction 19 might be ur best bet Tez….u can drive through lovely moss side that way!

and once again Terry…. IT’S MOWBRAY!

  13. Wolves9 said:

TWB or as Realist calls you Officer Dooey. What’s the point in buying that Atlas the other day? You still seem to be struggling. As another option you spend about 20 hours a day on the internet, so try a route planner. Guessing the giro won’t stretch to a TomTom.

  14. wbabomber said:

    Arnyking

We have won 10 games away from home this season which is same as Watford, and jointly the most in the Championship, you do correctly point out IF we do get promoted our defensive play will need to be improved, but lets not forget the game is about scoring more than the opposition, and we have managed to do that quite well, albeit in the Championship.

  15. terrystilltopbaggie said:

11wilf wilf, or he could have played for you lot and stayed in the champioship, boing boing

  16. BoingBoing666 said:

the Gera story is exactly the same as last seasons. Boro n Villa after him when we didnt go up. Its all a load of bull…

    11.wolveswolves
the guy stayed with us despite speculation and interest from other clubs so why would he care to leave when he has done what he swore he would help do.

    i re-iterate my philosophy
if you grafted for a year to get a job you wanted you wouldnt turn your back on it once you have earnt it. same goes for promotion to the prem.

    end of story.

  17. terrystilltopbaggie said:

i see banks,s are after the best midland fan,we know where they will find the best whingers dont we,boing boing going up the mowbury way

  18. terrystilltopbaggie said:

i wish the E&S would give prizes out for best post,id win them every week, boing boing prem here we come

  19. BENNYBOY said:

Yes it is MOWBRAY, but I am as bad spelling Zultan and not Zoltan.
If Zoltan goes so what ? I believe he will stay, as the cash won’t be much better at Villa and he may not get a regular game. The squad is alot bigger at Villa than at the Hawthorns and he has started on the bench quite a few times this season.
Tony Mowbray seems to be buying well, so any cash from selling Gera might buy two young and up and coming players in the future. Amazing who will come and play for us once in the Premier league. Thanks Wolves fans for the sniping remarks, I lMFAO everytime I see one. Here is some good advice for you and I am not taking the preverbial. Go and put the effort into writing/commenting on Wolves, (the team you support) as there is alot less wrong at the Albion. Good squad spirit, top of the league, respected manager, players working hard for first team places, no play them at all costs favourites, good home support with a large regular fan base.
Reverse most of the above for Wolves.
Wolves fans negative comments about us and their own team remind me of the Harpies in Jason And The Argonauts. Picking away doing nothing constructive. Discuss your team and management, what you like what you don’t like ?
    Premier League The Mowbray Way.
The path from the Astle Gates to the ticket office at the Hawthorns should be known as, “Mowbray Way”

  20. terrystilltopbaggie said:

7 wilfie, i took it back cuz i couldent find chelsea in there, boing boing

  21. brummie rob wolves said:

Another gem Terry like your many wonderful defenders, Luke Moore etc.
You won’t hear anything from the Molineux as we have already stated that we are not looking at new signings until this season is out the way.
If we start playing Little, Jones, Lee Collins, Gleeson, Davies, Gobern - if we stay in this division- we hardly need any new blood. Just get rid of the dead wood.
Make no mistake, Villa, Blues, Albion are envious of our academy. Only Villa come anywhere near bringing through top quality youngsters like Keane, Lescott, Murray, Hennessey etc.

  22. Phil Summers said:

Ther are 20 teams in the Premier league, said to be the BEST LEAGUE IN THE WORLD, next season we will be one of them, not bad for a small club like ours. This is truly incredible, one of only 20 teams in the entire world, and we are one of them. Nothing else to say really, we don’t have to defend our position, this says it all.

  23. The Real Bully said:

You would think any se;f respecting journalist would be too embarrassed to regurgitate the Gera to Boro’ or Villa story yet again.
Can’t really imagine TM is seriously thinking of any signings until we know which division we’ll be in. The previous Mark Hudson story is a good example. More likely agents trying to create a market.

  24. wolveswolves said:

    16) I think you’ll find the only reason he has stayed with you is he’s been contracted and you haven’t let him go. Now he’s free to pick and chose

  26. Super Stripes said:

I actually think gera will go! He’s a class player which tells you how good our squad is as he’s spent most of this season on the bench!! Anyway if he does leave i’d wish him all the best. Part of the “great escape”.. what a season.. and also scored a “winner” against wolves.. mind you most our players have over the last 10 years!!!

GOOD LUCK ZOLT, HOPE TO SEE YOU IN THE MAGICAL BLUE AND WHITE STRIPES NEXT YEAR ;-)

  37. brummie rob wolves said:

    29) Luke Moore would not get in our team. As for directions to Manchester, I will direct you to Salford - The Chatsworth Estate - you would fit in well with Frank Gallagher and mates.
As for 22) Come back when you are the 8th most successful club in the country. Oh you can’t as you never will be!

  38. terrystilltopbaggie said:

21,rob, keane@spurs,lesscott@everton,murry crocked for 2 seasons, hennessy on his way, anything else come out this academy that we are all envious of,how many from the academy played tuesday night, boing boing loads a money

  39. Weston Wolf said:

All those Baggie fans will be celebrating on Monday evening.

Just a word of caution though…..Southampton still need the points to stay up and is it so long since Leicester scored 4 and Colchester scored 3 at that place.

Tuesday morning could be quite fun on here if the unexpected happens again !!
